SoZ Cohort Guide

SoZ Cohorts

There are a total of 11 cohorts available in Storm of Zehir.  Cohorts can be customized on level-up just like any other party member. They each have their own unique packages so if you don't want to hassle with leveling up all of your cohorts, you can just choose the "Recommend" options.  A description of each cohort, where they can be found and how they can be hired along with a summary of their primary skills follows below. Starting HPs, AC and stats may vary slightly depending on when you find each of the cohorts.  Click on the name in the table below to jump to a detailed description of that cohort

Location: Temple of Waukeen in Neverwinter

How to Hire: Pay her fee of 5000 gp (3000 gp if use diplomacy)

Location: Underdark Black Market in Samarach

How to Hire: Kill the Mindlflayers in the Underdark Black Market in Samarach to free the slaves.  Then pay her 2000 gp fee and she will join.


       
Finch  Finch

Race: Half Elf 
Class:  Bard (10)
Alignment: Chaotic Good (0/100)
At Start: HP 60  AC 19
Starting Ability Scores: Str 12  Dex 16 Con 10 Int 11 Wis 8 Cha 20
Primary Skills: Concentration, Diplomacy, Heal  (Bluff, Intimidate, Listen, Taunt) 

Location: Any inn near (but not in) Neverwinter.

How to hire: Finch needs help to get into Neverwinter, so agree to help him get inside Neverwinter. After you've obtained a permanent pass of your own, convince Sir Nevalle to help you.  Then talk to Lady Jeanelle and get her support as well. Return to Finch and give him the good news.  Finch will appear later in the Crossroad Keep merchant hall and will be eager to join the party.

Location: Wailing Wench Tavern in Neverwinter.

How to Hire:  Convince him to join, then donate 1000g to his monastary when he mentions it.

Location: Open Palm Bazaar in Samargol

How to Hire:  Talk to her about her job and her sister.  Ask her to join.  She'll agree if you pay her a 500 gp fee (300 gp with diplomacy 6+).  You can get her for free when casting the cards with a "Sleight of Hands" score of 5+, (secretly removing the negative cards).


       
Lastri  Lastri Kassireh

Race: Lightfoot Halfling 
Class:  Swashbuckler
Alignment: Neutral (36/51)
At Start: HP 44  AC 19
Starting Ability Scores: Str 8  Dex 19 Con 12 Int 13 Wis 10 Cha 11
Primary Skills: Diplomacy, Lore, Move Silently, Parry, Taunt, Tumble 

Location: Samargol Tavern (after rescue)

How to Hire: Sa'Sani will ask you to locate Captain Lastri who has gone missing since the initial Batiari attacks at the shipwreck.  Find the Cave of the Stone Knife Batiri tribe (the cave is located southeast of shipwreck).  After rescuing Lastri, return to the inn in Samargol and talk to her about her missing second mate.  Return to the shipwreck and use the stone key that Lastri gave you to enter the cave and rescue the second mate.  After you've completed the rescue, return to the inn and ask Lastri to join you.

Location: West Harbor first, then Crossroad Keep

How to Hire:  After dealing with the issues plaguing West Harbour, ask Goodwife Aruna about Quarrel and then talk to Quarrel.  He says he needs to go leave to go looking for his former master at Crossroad Keep.  Follow him there and he'll ask to join the party.


       
ribsmasher  Ribsmasher 

Race: Human 
Class:  Monk (10)
Alignment: Lawful Neutral (100/50)
At Start: HP 10   AC 8 
Starting Ability Scores: Str 22 Dex 14 Con 16 Int 8 Wis 16 Cha 8
Primary Skills: Hide, Move Silently 

Location: Onyx Cave northeast of Neverwinter.    Spoiler:  The Door at the front of the cave can only be opened by casting Darkness on it in Dialog.

How to Hire: Once he's been freed, simply talk to him and ask him to join.  If you don't have him join the party after he is freed, he will be back at the keep.

 

       
Septimund  Septimund  

Race: Human
Class: Cleric (10), Doomguide of Kelemvor (3)
Alignment:  Lawful Neutral (100/50)
At Start: HP 124  AC 20
Starting Ability Scores: Str 14 Dex 12 Con 14 Int 12 Wis 22 Cha 14
Primary Skills: Concentration, Diplomacy, Heal, Lore, Spellcraft 

Location: Port Llast Garrison (north of Neverwinter)

How to hire him: When you enter the Port Llast garrison for the first time, you'll find Septimund having a conversation with the garrison commander.  After the garrison commander refuses Septimund's request for help to end the undead attacks, Septimund will leave the garrison building.  Go talk to the commander and ask him about Septimund, and accept the mission to end the undead attacks. Leave the garrison and talk Septimund into joining your party to help resolve the situation. (SPOILER: When the party reaches the source of the problem, they find that it is Septimund’s long, lost lover Nya who, through madness and grief, has turned to necromancy.)  After resolving the final battle peacefully, return to Port Llast and you can convince him to join. Chose your dialogue choices carefully, because it's also possible to lose him for good.

Special Abilities:  Summons Yushai a dinosaur companion.

Location: Open Palm Bazaar in Samargol 

How to Hire: Simply ask him and he'll join.
