Neverwinter Nights 2 Walkthrough

Tutorial

tutorial

Once you’ve created your character, the story begins. It opens in the home of your step-father Daeghun. This part of the game is a Tutorial.

And if you're playing for the first time, I suggest you play through. It will give some pointers on controls, actions, and the Interface. Not to mention, a few things you can pick up and sell later for gold.

After a little speech by Daeghun, he’ll have you retrieve some furs from a chest under a picture, near the front door. Bring the furs back to him, and he’ll tell you what to do next. (The Fur Quest) Now it’s off to town to meet with your friends. Once you step outside, you’ll see a bridge in the distance, with two people standing by it. Go over to them and an auto conversation will begin. It seems as though there is a competition at the fair in the village. You and your friends, Bevil and Amie, are part of the competition. The next person you will want to talk to is Georg. He is running the competition, and will give you a rundown on what’s happening. There are four events in which you will compete. It really doesn’t matter in which order you do them.

We will start with the Archery Contest. It really is quite simple. You find Daeghun is running it. When you talk to him, he’ll tell you to get a crossbow from a nearby barrel. There are some practice dummies at the end of the field. Take a couple of practice shots at them. When your ready, approach Daeghun, and tell him. Shoot the bottles. You’ll have 10 shots to hit 10 bottles. Don’t worry, it’s easy. If you get 10 out of 10, he’ll tell you he hasn’t seen anyone do that since the old days. You have finished . (400XP) -

On the way to the next event, nearby, is Galen. He is the merchant Daeghun told you to see. You’ll talk to Galen, and sell the furs to him. Then with the money from the furs, you will buy the bow Daeghun wants. It should leave you with 10 gold. Which Daeghun later tells you to keep. Take the bow back to Daeghun and give it to him. This will complete the fur trade quest. (400XP)

Off to the Tournament of Talent. Right across the road, you will find Retta Starling. Your friend Amie will be the contestant in this event, at it will start automatically. The spells she uses are setup,. You just have to point and click. When she is done, talk to Retta again. This will complete this quest. (400XP)

Once you're finished, you’ll be approached by a fellow named Orlen. He wants you to look at a pig. He thinks another farmer's pig is enchanted. The farmers name is Lewy Jons. Orlen thinks the pig is too big to be real. You have a choice here. Talk to Lewy Jons, tell him you know his pig is enchanted. Try to get him to withdraw. He won’t. You can either let it go, or Amie can use a spell to remove the enchantment from pig, and expose the ruse. You can also take a bribe from Lewy. (Potion of Bless) If you expose the scheme, Orlen gives you some pork jerky. Either way you get 150XP.

Off to the next event. The Knaves Challenge. Head down the road a little further. You come to a tent with a man in front. He is Tarmas, the local Wizard. This event requires you to be a little underhanded. So, if your character is not a Rogue, then you will need some help. Somewhere nearby, is a young lad named Kipp. He is the local thief. Ask Kipp to join your party. Tarmas will tell you a riddle. It has clues to find three feathers. Okay. Go back the way you came. Along the fence, just before the archery field, is a pile of logs. The blue feather is in there. Let Kipp get it, because it is trapped. Go back down the road further, and you will see a chest between two buildings. Have Kipp unlock it, and grab the white feather. Head back toward the bridge. By one of the last buildings, are two men standing. One in green. Kipp has to pick his pocket, in order to get the last feather, the green one. Once you have the last feather, go back to Tarmas, and give to him. He’ll declare you the winner. That ends this quest. (400XP)

The last event is in the corral next to the archery range. It’s The Harvest Brawl. Yes, you and your friends, duke it out with three opponents. Talk to Brother Merring, and get things started. In a nearby barrel are clubs. Make sure each one of your party has one equipped. Then practice on the dummies first. Then talk to Brother Merring again and enter the corral. You fight three noobs the first fight - easy win. When you're ready for the championship fight, talk to the Mossfelds, standing by the fence. They go down fairly easy. After the fight, go see Brother Merring again. This ends the quest. (500XP)

Talk to Georg. He’ll tell you to meet him at the stage for the big ceremony. There you will get 1000XP, a Harvest Cloak, and a Harvest Cup.

Now, grab a sandwich, a soda, or whatever. The Tutorial is over and the fun begins. Things start to get tougher.

Editor's note: I left the mention of exact XP amounts in tact, though don't expect to find the same for the next parts of the Walkthrough.
