Gem mine: books
After completing the gem mine, the librarian spirit gave me three books on Illefarn history. That's fine, but all three have an activated ability on them. Or, even, a custom, targeted, Bard-only activated ability. I tried using them on everything I could think of, but got absolutely no noticeable result.
Anyone has an idea, what to do with them?

I don't travel with my bard, so I just sold the books. LOL

Also sold them. For good money, heh.
Aww, bards can use them? Heck, I wasn't playing a bard

Re: Gem mine: books
I set them in the last page of my pack and never even looked at them. How sad is that? I did not even know they had any special abilities

Re: Gem mine: books
I've picked things up, knowing that they must be of some use to one of the characters. But I end up selling half of it, because I don't want to take the time trying to figure out who uses it, and what it's used for. Add that to the fact that there is no one place you can store things throughout the whole game. I lost a ton of stuff at the Sunken Flagon, not realizing it was going to disappear off the world map. After that, I just sold everything I couldn't use right away.

Re: Gem mine: books
Actually, these books' description (R-click, examine) says that they are usable and by bard only, but any character with decent UMD skill (like my wizard -- has UMD of 12) could use them. Still, I can't understand what are they for. I finished Gem Mine 3rd, and thought they are needed to activate the Song Portal. Spent about 40 minutes trying to use them there (different order, whatever)...

Re: Gem mine: books
Haha, that happened to me too, I stored a load of my good items in the box there (after the trial by fighting) and suddenly... it disapears off the map, with no way to go back oh well. I'll know for next time I go through the campaign.

Re: Gem mine: books
yeah, that's why Khelgar makes a glorious pack mule... just load him up with a belt of giant strength and those Ironfist guantlets.. and he can hold a ton... even more so when he's got the belt of ironfist... I think at the end I had him upwards around being able to carry 700-800 lbs...lmao

Re: Gem mine: books
The song portal will open automatically after all the other statues have been activated.
