Hi there,

I just started playing and am experiencing a very strange issue. My character seems to be in God Mode while my NPCs are dying the instant they take any amount of damage. I used a trainer (1.05.912) to adjust my character's ability scores but nothing else. The trainer is not running in the background during the game.

Any ideas?

Are you running any other hak's or mods besides the trainer?

This is a new one on me. Never heard of a trainer causing issues like this to the NPCs.

CHeck out this thread (http://www.thieves-guild.net/forum/showthread.php?t=768) to see if you can see any issues from the installation of the trainer.

No, nothing else is running.

No, nothing else is running.

If you don't have any other haks or mods running or installed, then I am at a loss. If you have a save from before using the trainer I would suggest reloading and forgoing the changes you made with the trainer. Also make sure that any haks or mods you have installed have been installed in the correct directories as well, whether or not you are actively running them.

Did you autopatch anytime after using the trainer? The autopatch process is notorious for causing problems with corrupting saved games.

Do the NPC characters appear to have suddenly lost hit points or dropped back to level 1? That would help explain why they die on the first hit, but not how it happened. If that's the case it might be possible to fix them by restoring older versions of their .ros files but that's a long shot.

Sorry, but I'm afraid I am stumped on this one. It sounds as though a game file has been corrupted but the only possible causes would be corruption from the autopatch, the trainer itself or simply a random bug. I can't suggest anything better than a reload on a previous save. Perhaps someone else here can offer a solution. I doubt this has anything to do with video drivers.

Edit: I also searched the official Bioware/Obsidian Forums and could not find another reference to this problem. That leads me to believe that it's not being generated by the patch itself although corruption from the autopatcher is still possible. The problem is most likely due to the use of the trainer but exactly HOW the trainer has caused the problem is beyond me. Which trainer were you using?

Neverwinter Nights 2 v1.05.912 PLUS 8 TRAINER
ISO By : RELOADED

I only loaded it once during characer creation and haven't used it since.

I believe you, honestly. :D

Does the trainer version match your game version?

Best I can suggest is to try reloading a save prior to the use of the trainer and see if the problem persists. If it does, then the basic game files have been corrupted somehow and a total reinstall is likely in order. If the problem does NOT persist in the earlier save, then the trainer must have been the cause and I would replay from the earlier save.

Sorry, I can't offer more advice.

Well unfortunately as I used the trainer in character creation there aren't any prior saves :)

Oh well, I will try starting the game over and seeing if not using the trainer at all fixes it.

Thanks for all your help.

Sorry I couldn't solve the problem.

At least you don't have to replay a lot. :)

This is a long shot. But maybe try going into the commands and entering the dm_god. maybe it will reverse it? As I said. I am sure it is a long shot. But ya never know.

Good luck!

GAK, I should have done a better search.

Liso has the right idea, but here's the right path:

~ (Open the console)
type DebugMode 1
hit enter
type dm_god 0 (which deactivates god mode)
hit enter
type DebugMode 0
hit enter
~ (close console)

See if THAT works. :D

Actually I just decided to start again given that I wasn't terribly far into the campaign :)

Thanks again for the advice.
