View Full Version : Purgatorio
Less than two weeks, and Purgatorio by Roguedao studios will be released.
Check here (http://www.roguedao.com/) for details.
For the Plansecape:Torment fans in the crowd, this promises to be a great single player mod. :)
Purgatorio is the first of a three part series. Part 2 is called Inferno and part 3 is called Eschatologia.
Edit: The release dates for Inferno and Eschatologia have been changed to Winter, 2007 and Winter, 2008 respectively. Purgatorio is now undergoing internal beta testing. After the internal beta testing is finished, an external beta test will be conducted. :)

Very exited for this. I haven't played Planescape yet, so the story'll be somewhat new to me. Also, I see it as a great learning experience. This'll be the first mod released by a really big talented team, I'm very exited to see how high they can raise the bar and what I can learn from them.
The release date of May 31st might be optimistic. According to their website,
"We are beginning the first round of extensive internal beta testing on Purgatorio this week.
The whole team will be playing through Purgatorio over the course of the next few weeks.
At the conclusion of this phase of testing, we will begin the public closed beta."
Sicar, if you can find a copy of Planescape:Torment I urge you to buy it. It's one of the best CRPG's made. :)
Yea, Torment was pretty sweet. Nothing quite like fighting side by side with a sarcastic, disembodied skull.... still haven't ever come across somethin like that anywhere else either....

Morte stole the show, but Nordrom came a close second. lol
Note: According to the latest from Rogue Dao, Purgatorio is going to be delayed until AFTER the release of Mask of the Betrayer. Apparently they saw some content that they are thinking of adding. :)
Latest update:
According to Monty of Rogue Dao "Purgatorio will officially and finally be released on September 12, 2008. This date is firm. It will never change. We're to the point where we can accept a hard deadline."
What a disappointment - a 6+ month delay. One can only hope that date IS firm.

And that it has been worth the wait.
And that it has been worth the wait.
That too, but from everything I have seen it certainly looks like it will be. :D
I'll throw in some tidbits from the official forums on information about the game as I have time. :D
Here's a start:
Tentative List of custom PC races:
Outsiders
Bariaur
Githyanki
Githzerai
Rogue Modron
Bladeling
Khaasta
Planetouched
Axani
Cansin
Chaond
Tuladhara
Zenythri
And here's the latest trailer:

And here's a few screenshots of some the creatures from Purgatorio:

I think it might be a little funny when Purgatorio is released and does far more things with NWN2 than MOW does. All this time has been spent with security issues on MOW, yet Purgatorio is free, (at least so far).

Anyone have word on release date(s) for anything out of the Planescape trilogy? I can't get anything to load on their main page...and gawd, did I LOVE Torment.

I spoke too soon, I guess...
The Purgatorio website went down recently due to a mistake over payment for their website fees. It should be back up shortly according to Purgatorio members. As for the release date, I do NOT expect it to be ready in September.

Let's hope that never happens to us [there is no us!] :D Ok, when roughly do you expect them to ship it out? :D

Haven't a clue. The Rogue Dao folks just haven't been talking and their site is still down. I just don't have a lot of confidence with groups / companies making deadlines lately. :wtf:
Rogue Dao site is back online. A hosting problem shut them down for a while. :D
This old news but:
The Vault interview is here:

31 Screenshots:

And there has been nothing new posted in the forums on the release date.
Yes, it's a shame. The latest entries in their news and announcements thread are from spam-bots selling WoW cd keys.
I hope they can pull this off eventually.
That's not a good sign at all. :(
It's hard to tell if the silence is because they are busting hump trying to get purgatorio finished OR if the project is slowly dying. Hopefully the former.
Update:
This is from the purgatorio forums as of november 8 (yeah it's a bit old I know)
We have got the project packaged for release and I am running around making sure all the area transitions work now that the game is configured differently. We plan to release what we have in about 4 weeks.
So they've already missed another time point. *sigh*
