I started last night -
my first character was a female human cleric of Waukeen NG (I used to play a cleric of waukeen /wizard in one of my preferred pen and paper groups) -
the second one was a female drow barbarian/fighter CE -
both very funny so far - but I will try other ones before I seriously start with the game ;)

I am playing a drow walock, i am now level 9. it was in the beginning though but now it is getting better. But does anybody know at which level you will get level 9 spells for the warlock???? but level 1 and 2 is fun but not so strong....
I am playing a straight up fighter right now. But the next game I want to play the darker side, so I might be a rogue. I'm not sure yet.
jimvanbekhoven sez, But does anybody know at which level you will get level 9 spells for the warlock????
I'm not positive, but I think it's level 18.

im playing a level 8 rogue, 5 SToA, 3 assasin at the moment lol
Neutral Evil..
And so far its going good,
Except for Elannee keeps making passes at me lol
Druid and Evil Assassins dont really go together
I have a couple of characters, the main character that i've progressed the farthest into the game is a chaotic good half-elf 13 ranger and 3 divine champion, probably going to finish him off as a divine champion... it's really nice since everything you go against is pretty much evil... and divine champion has feats like a paladin(smite infidel, lay on hands, holy wrath) but doesn't have to be lawful good... smite infidel gives attack bonus to anyone not of the same alignment. holy wrath is an area effect, deals nice damage against undead... plus with the favored enemies of a ranger... teehee... humans, outsiders(githyanki, bladelings, etc), and demons don't stand a chance
I'm also working on making a chaotic evil drow pale master, i had a lvl 40 palemaster in NWN1... and duude was he vicious..but can't get to lvl 40 in NWN2.. and no epic level spells... oh well =p

I am playing a Deep Gnome Monk. Lawful good alignment. The first so many levels I certainly didn't do as much damage as I wanted, but as much to hit increases and the unarmed skill of the monk increases he is ok. But he is very, very hard to hit with a wicked high AC.
The first run through I played a female half elf druid/fighter. I really like the combo. However I have a hard time with "nutral" characters. It must be my personallity :p I am good with lawful good, chaotic good <--- this beaing my favorite or if the mood strikes me right "lawful evil" I am now trying a female Aasimar Pally for my second run. I'm going to try some sort of lawful evil for a 3rd run.
hehe .. personally i love "lawful evil" the most.
i just love to manipulate people and watch their loss become my gain and all that within the law :P

I'm playing a Rouge, however he is lawful good, slightly ironic in some ways, but very nice all the same, love the NW9 suit i'm in now too ;)
well, robin hood was also a thief....but he was good also, though not lawful hehe
now that i think of .. your right .. hehe lawful good is quite unnatural for a rogue .. how do you do that? :)

Well, you have be kind and understanding of the people around you, yet you're still able to do things you shouldn't necessarily be doing without being questioned ;) It's a kind of "Divine Wrath" type figure, powerful... yet good and pure - It's a very interesting mix, and a bit like I am in real life - i'm usually good & fair to people I know/around me, but if needed I can make people’s lives rather difficult – however usually I’m just the nice & fair part :D.
After looking in player.bic using Gffeditor, it shows me as 100% good/law abiding. Even though I made some occasional mistakes within the game
I figured it'd be an interesting perspective to see how it goes basing decisions etc. in the game, on what i'd do if I was actually in the situation - and that's what I did.
Next time I play solo again - (i'm sure i'll do solo again soon enough) I may be tempted to do the opposite of what i'd actually do and see how it goes.
Anyways I should probably stop boring you now :p

I'm playing as a chatoic evil Rogue/Shadowdancer, although really I think I should have chosen something else. Rogue has always been my favourite NWN class, played them thoroughly in singleplayer campaigns and a LOT online but in NWN2 it seems the campaign wasn't designed for YOU to be the rogue in the party. I'm also playing a co-op game as a chatic good barbarian although that's only recently started.
For example, there is never any need to sneak about, after all you have your party following you and you ALWAYS have to fight your way through. Also, any attempt you make at being subtle is blown by the conversation triggers everywhere, if you are told to go and silence someone, even if you sneak past all the guards you still trigger the conversation and end up having to fight the guards anyway and the person you were planning on killing silently knows you're there. This also means that stealth mode is fairly useless unless you have hide in plain sight, back in NWN1 I used stealth mode a lot even without shadowdancer since you didn't 'need' to talk to everyone you were planning to kill and as a rogue you wouldn't be too good at 'fights' so you'd try to deal with people individually and quickly. You didn't 'need' henchman helping you, and they might die leaving you alone so you had to be able to cope by yourself, NWN2 relies on you having a small army with you to deal with all the 'big' fights. In NWN1 you could also tell your henchmen to use stealth when you did so ambushing was much better, sneak attacks also seemed more reliable (you could have someone chase you into a room, slip to the side, they'd run past you and boom! sneak attack) in NWN2 you can never be sure when sneak attacks occur, I've had sneak attacks against earth elementals (wtf?) and been behind other enemies I know are vulnerable and had no sneak attacks at all, it's just weird. Also, I can pickpocket anyone on the streets and even if they detect me, they just go about their business. I've killed maybe 100 city watch (evil route), robbed houses, murdered, threatened, yet Nasher seems to love me and everything i've done seems to get forgotten. Finally you get a rogue anyway to join your party and all the traps/locks are easy enough for Neeshka to deal with automatically, and since you can't die it doesn't even matter if you walk over the traps anyway, they only fire once, besides even if you do sneak past any traps your idiot companions will run straight over them when they follow you disarming them for you.
Really this campaign seems mostly suited to a fighter (or specifically combat based class) since there are only two options for each encounter, diplomacy (talk your way out of it, which doesn't always work) or fight (usually everything). If you go paladin then you can do both and the 'good' side seems to make a lot more sense in the plot, not to mention that nearly all your friends are 'good' or at least neutral and prefer you to be nice to them and others. Even Bishop is hard to please while being evil since a chaotic evil person is generally nasty to others and a lawful evil person is lawful which he hates.
I'm starting to think that the evil route was just an add on, since it could be a lot better and doesn't tie in with the story much. Rogue always has so much potential in NWN campaigns because it's such a diverse class but unless the module makers think about how each class is used then it just becomes a hack and slash series of fights which best suits the simplest of classes (eg. fighter) where you just point and click on enemies.
The multiplayer issues don't help either. I remember in NWN PWs I might be in a party (as the rogue) and when we came across a cave i'd be sent in ahead of everyone so I could sneak around and see what was inside (and maybe do some looting before the rest of them enter). Once checked I could say what was inside, were there any traps (since death was bad). Even playing co-op on the NWN campaigns and 3rd party modules (great fun to start a campaign as a team rather than with an AI henchman). Another fun aspect was that when dealing with 'neutral' NPCs the rogue could set up position nearby, ready to strike if they don't do as you want since you could attack non hostiles (like tell someone they're free to go and then sneak attack an arrow in their back, just to be really evil). This isn't possible in the campaign and again, since you don't worry about death and have all those AI henchman to help you out you can be as careless as you like.
I have always played with good the guys.
Just like I have done in NWN1, I also planned to play with the same Chaotic Good dwarf-tank-fighter... who would have been exactly the same as Khelgar. When I met him first, I stopped playing NWN2 for a week. The two characters even had the same attributes.
Than I have decided to go with the Strongehat halfling Warlock. Noone would guess that peaceful loking halfling - from the Shire - will cast some devil magic... he-he-he.
After the 9th level, it became quite strong and in the Act III invincible.
I salute you for playing with a rogue, or anyone else playing with a bard. For me, as a GM, it was always the hardest part of any game session to provide the same level of excitement / thrill as for the mage or fighter characters.
I started playing as an aasimar paladin and want to become a divine champion.
After I finish the campaign as a goodie I wanna try something evil buhehe:D
The first time through I played a fighter, with a neutral-good alingment. This time I wanted to play a more evil type and cover the darker side of the game. I ended up making myself a Teifling Rogue Bandit. I am having fun with it, especially since I picked up Neeshka. We look like twins. Not to mention the fact that we are really ticking off Khelgar, with there being two of us now. Makes me think, be nice if someone modded me some matching armor and weapons. We could look like the Doublemint twins. :D Actually, there is a method behind all this madness. By playing that character myself, I don't have to have Neeshka with me all the time, and I don't have to listen to that high pitched, squeeky voice of hers.
I'll most likely start another character. Maybe a Warlock, or Sorcerer. I can play multiple characters by swapping my "save" file, back and forth. This way I can cover more for my rewrite of the walkthrough.
I played a Chaotic Evil tiefling rogue/shadow thief of Amn/Neverwinter Nine female char. Stabbed all those henchman people in the end, muhahahaha!
Also wanted to try with a CG character, but got bored too soon :p
I recently started with a CN female halfling ranger (if I remember the class well :o ), but don't have time to continue right now.
I usually choose the dark path first, and play a goody-goodie if I have time left. I have long since stopped playing typical fighters.
I play the characters/classes I possessed in the PnP game:
a LG Human Monk, NG Human female Barbarian, a CN Human Fighter/Priest of Tempus, a NE Human Rogue/Shadowdancer, and lastly a CG Elven Fighter/Mage
I've always been biased towards humans, and, as I get older, towards Good. I do have to admit playing the CN Fighter/Priest is a blast, he had the perfect adventuring personality. It didn't hurt that under NWN's ruleset, being a Fighter/Priest (eventually 10th/30th) kicked supreme butt, especially since his domains were War and Trickery.
Soon i'm going to be starting a Ninja, and no, i'm not joking... there really is a Ninja class :D you can download the mod from: http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=NWN2Hakpaks Original.Detail&id=25

Dude. Drow ninja. *drool*
I'm currently still on my first NwN2 character, a chaotic neutral drow rogue/duelist. I forgot to select a deity in character creation, but didn't notice until fairly recently, so I guess I'm Faithless. Whoops.
The Running Potato <------ that name is funny! lol I'm not laughing at you. It struck me funny and had to comment. :p
Well, my first run through I always play a female Human Fighter. In NWN1 I liked to play a Paladin.
Now, my 2nd go at NWN2 I play a Female Human Rogue - chaotic neutral. I just love giving all these snappy "I don't give a crap" replies now hehe
And it's so great to be able to unlock everything. LOL
No need for Neeshka. I'll dump her first chance I get heh.
I've found so far that the game & the quests are mostly towards good characters & what I'd play in the solo game vs the multiplayer is different.
In MP I'd normally go Neutral so I'm not affected by weapons that do extra harm to lawful or evil & I'll play anything from an Archane archer, ranger, fighter/rogue, barb, rogue/***/sd, pally/cot. Haven't had a crack at spell casters yet as in MP due to RL & work I don't game for long sessions that much these days & hate leaving parties out in the sticks.
For NWN2 I have taken on a the cool role of a dex wood elf ranger using rapier & kukri. The feats that the ranger gets now really bring some balance to the class & if you're an elf always having ure spot skill working has saved my butt many times.
The ranger gets a tracking feat where the enemies appear on the mini map. As you get higher it gets better & eventually they all appear even if ure running. Lets you halt the party, sneak up & scout ahead to see how many. I have my Sorc cast greater invis on me as well. Then move fighter types in front, casters just behind. Pause to cue up command & cat like hell. Halt all chars. Fighters use bows for 1st few rounds. Cast walls of flame, mass destruct spells like missile storms, ice storm, fireballs & some bigbys as they get closer. Then the fighters finish em all off.
So if you haven't played a ranger, with the amount of outdoor areas in NWN2 it is a blast to play. I've really enjoyed it. Only thing is that diplomocy/intimidate/bluff skills never win the day & I just have to choose the smart talk options from all the info I've gathered by talking to everyone.
Best char for NWN2 solo would be a fighter/rogue for the massive skill points u get as rogue & put em into diplomacy etc for all the chat options.

I just started a new lawful neutral half-orc monk file. We'll see how this turns out.

The better servers use a lot of stealth & Spot, I agree. Its good to see Rangers finally come into their own, also; those of us who have always loved them have waited a long time. Druids, too, seem to have gotten a few extra perks (new spells and abilities)
i have a Chaotic Evil Fighter/Frenzied Berserker (Fighter level 7) (Frenzied Berserker level 3)
and i just started a Chaotic evil Sorcerer :P
god i love evil :D
Currently going for a human (or elven, havent decided yet) mage!
The run I'm on now, I made a wizard. This is my first time ever not being some sort of melee class. I then went prestige class Arcane Archer. I really like her. The end is coming up soon and that will tell me how good she is. ;)

Same here, for some reason I suck at micromanaging spellcasting classes so I always end up playing as a fighter or combat/diplomacy oriented bard! :D
But of course, with my new human mage I intend to change that!

hehe I have the same problems as you. Thsi time I played with all my spells, paid great attention to what did best damage overall etc. As I went up in levels I played with them some more. By Goerge I think I got it!! :D I'm a nukin machine!! I may never play a fighter again

After spending close to 90 minutes reading up on the classes and prestige classes and trying to decide what class to be, I finally decided to just play the damn game as if it was really me...
So I'm a bard. A jack of all trades with some musical talent who's somewhat combat oriented (blade). I have it set up to either become a Red Dragon Discicple, a Duelist, or a Harper Agent but I'm not sure what I'm going to do... but I figured I'd just play and see what happens... I was kinda focused on Duelist since I envisioned somewhat of a swashbuckling bard, or some other kind of fruity "Wesley" guy from the Princess Bride... but I'm not sure...
Err, not that I'm really a fruity guy or anything...
I'm playing an Wizard - Necromancer, I guess this is what I wanted to be in real life, so considering is next to impossible, I'm playing one in the game. ;)

Atm I'm playing on a evil fighter - blackguard. But I also got a monk in act 2. Im already thinking of my next PC :P My next PC will be a lawful, evil player. I'm thinking of taking the Light path with it.

90 minutes ... ah ha ha ha. That was what i did back in NWN 1 before i finally, actually start moving my mouse and start playing.
I'm enjoying my Cleric (lv.17) so far. Can't see the benefits of prestige into Divine Champion or Warpriest ...
Next i'm gonna get me a Sorceress and see if i can top my last Wizard. Oh, if only there's option to taunt Qara !!
" See, i told ya so. i'm a better at the Weave than you'll ever be Qara! " :)

ne druid, and the alignment sys is rather annoying.
I'm actually playing four different games at the same time. I do this by swapping the save file from one character to the other. Play for a while as one, then switch the save files, and play as another one. Thewe are the ones I'm doing.
Male Drow- Warlock/Battle - Chaotic Neutral. I may split him off as a fighter later.
Female Halfling - Thief/Assasin - Lawful Evil.
Male Half Elf - Cleric/Crusader - Neutral Good.
Male Assimar - Wizard/Generalistic - Neutral. I chose general hoping to get a broader range of magic experience.
If I can pull this off without getting things all screwed up, I'll be lucky.

for panjer and liso, the pause button is your friend.
I kept telling myself many months ago that the story sounded like a good idea and excuse to play a Paladin. Game came around and instead I decided on trying a Fighter/Weapon Master (one point toward chaotic in that planning). After 10 levels of Fighter, I'm just now starting my Weapon Master levels. I'll likely finish at Fighter 12/Weapon Master 7/Undecided 1.
An enjoyable story indeed.
I played through the first time with a Lawful Good Human Fighter, joined the Watch did all the good things.
Now i'm playing a Chaotic Evil Human Sorcerer, joined the thieves guild, telling heaps of lies and intimidating my way through alot of troubles.

Hmm Characters. I got many of them thanks to me being one of the people having had all the little glitches with the game so let me take breath.
*inhales deeply*
drow sorceress lvl 15
drow warlock lvl 12
human fighter lvl 7
elven ranger lvl7 mage lvl1 archane archer lvl 7
half elven ranger lvl 8 sorcerer lv 1 archane archer lvl 6
thats about all I am now starting my 6th char thanks to a lot of corrupted save games. The pro side to all this is, even if annoying I know what people I keep and which to boot and what to say in the game. Still annoying.
I only have one char, originally it started being a druid, but due to alignment change i was unable to continue through (damned chaotic points xD) , so now im stuck with druid 6, fighter 2 (yay!, feats), barbarian 2 and frenzied bezerker 5
i know.. its a mess of a char... but well, i wanna end the game asap, so im not willing to start it over just yet with the perfect melee char i posted on the same-named thread ;)
you know, if you ever have played the game with a well made sorcerer I can assure you that you will know why some people tend to say that they love the Qara character. When I read on this forum that she helped them winning the bosses and through other difficult parts, it was just my character that did the trick. The best spell in the world: wail of the banshee. In the last part of the game when some of the other characters betray you only neeshka could survive that trick. Only the damn undead cannot be killed by it. Oh I even can remember from the NWN the first that I killed two dragons at once with one spell!
Anyway, since there are drows now, and believe me, they are veeerrryyy powerful, I chose for a drow sorcerer. Why not a wizard? Because sorcerers have more spells a day and that is the only thing you need the most in this game :p. And as someone noticed before: necromancers rules!
Oh yeah the alingnment: chaotic good. Sometimes difficult to maintain but this is how I am in RL a bit too, that is all.
And of course, no multiclassing. Sticking with one isnt always the worst solution...

First time through the campain I played a Human CN Bard10/RDD10. Was fun, especially in the performance in Act 2. He was fun, but I didnt really get that many chances to role play him that well.
Now I'm just waiting for my PW to go up (Sundren baby! woop!) so I can start this nice little character I've been planning for a while.
Moon Elf Female
LE Warlock/Blackguard of Hoar.
VERY Rough background:
Her village was infected with a plague by a couple priests of Helm masquerading as traders because they "consorted with devils" (hince why she is a warlock). The demon blood in her veins what the only thing that kept her alive while everyone around her suffered an agonizing, slow death. She started praying to the God of Retribution and Vengence (Hoar), and set off for Sundren where she heard the Helmites traveled to. In Sundren, she is under the guise of a traveling alchemist, but secretly she is weeding out the names of those who descecrated her village through guile and deciet. She specializes in acid and plagues, and uses most non combatant warlock techniques (such as Beguiling Influence, Walk Unseen, Retrubutive Invisibility, and her favorite, Tenacious Plague). However, when it comes to battle, she is never far from her scythe, which she uses to honor the old God of Death Jergal, whom she believes to have saved her from an untimely death.
She is like a ghost to her enemies, prefering to attack her enemies when the least expect it, and plans on extracting a certain ironic, poetic justice on those who wronged her.
never played an Evil character before, so it should be fun.
