I voted other.

I kinda like the history of waterdeep, which dosnt belong to any of the mentioned,
regions. It was tied with the underdark. I just love reading about a all evil race
dominated by women. Enslaving dwarfs, killing elfs and all that jazz :P

Sorry, it dosnt. In nwn2(tips and lore loading) and wikipedia both state that
waterdeep is not part of the swordcoast.... But you could say it belongs the the
region.

I'm still a fan of the Underdark and the hells itself

I'm with Foxy here. The Underdark and the hells for the win!

The Frozen North,
The Sword Coast.
Because i read RA Savlatores books which where mainly set in that area, and icewind dale was there 2.

Someone forgot to put the Moonsea and the Dales as possible choices. I personally like the Moonshae islands. Waterdeep is definitely a region unto itself, nearly as large as the Sword Coast.

From the above, I think I like Thay.
Thayvians... red wizards...

Guess it has to be The Frozen North. Anyway, I liked Icewind Dale...
And The Underdark.

I've read some of Salvatore's books, too. :o

The Sword Coast: So many stories have taken part here already and it often seems like the pivot point of the D&D world.
The Forzen North: I just like this harsh, hostile world theme.
Waterdeep, The Underdark&The Hells: Foxy already mentioned the why.
The City of Sigil: It's obvious, isn't it?
Cormanthor: Myth Drannor.

faerūn would be nothing without the swordcoast i think ...

I'm all for the Underdark. x3
Dark elves pwn every other race.
End of story.

But only R.A. Salvatore can portray them properly. :/ Most every other author I know of just can't... just can't pull off the whole evil elf matriarchal society thing without making it sound too typical or so dramatic and dark and sinister that it all back-fires on them and seems just plain cheesy. The "Frozen North" without a doubt for me.

And I too read R. A. Salvatore!

It depends on whether you're asking which you prefer reading about or which you would want to see as a setting for another game. Frozen north has already been done in IWD and IWD2 so I would prefer something different for a game setting. But I loved the Icewind Dale Trilogy by Salvatore. :D

I would be very happy to see Icewind Dale III, followed by IV and then V.

Do you see the pattern here? :D

kgambit

Yes I think even I can detect that trend. LOL

I would rather see them set a new game in a different setting. Amn or Calimshan or even Kara-Tur would be a nice change of pace. :D

Amn was already partly covered with BG2
still my personal most favorite RPG of all time :D

The Sword Coast
The Frozen North
AmnI just installed BG2 again; my all-time favorite is BG1, however.

yeah the story ... all that corruption and intrigues and betrayal in BG1 is awesome :D

And let's not forget the quality mods out for it.

The Black Wyrm's Lair (http://www.blackwyrmlair.net/) has a compilation of some of the finest modding done with the Infinty Engine.

I was fortunate enough to work with Baronius on The Grey Clan Episode One (http://greyclan.blackwyrmlair.ne t/ep1/) and it is a must have for any sincere Baldur's Gate fan, (requires TotSC).
