I know that most computer games set in the Forgotten Realms are actually set along the Sword Coast. This is not meant as a complaint, the Sword Coast Cities are certainly a fine place to perform herioc deeds, and all the major races are encountered frequently there.

That said, Faerun is still much larger and I think it would be quite interessting to know which other regions and countries are popular settings for our campaigns.

E.g. I like the Unapproachable East a lot and set the P&P campaigns I DM mostly in that region, especially in Aglarond or Rashemen. Chessenta would be interessting too, especially now, as it is ruled by the red dragon Tchazzar.

What are your favorite Faerunian regions and where would you like to see the next Forgotten Realms computer game?

a personal favorite is Evermeet, land of the elves...a novel describing the entire history of the elven races by Elaine Cunningham I would love to see a graphical representation of this place.

and I bet any game that plays through the life and trials of Drizzt would be a major hit...from Homeland to The Two Swords novels by R.A. Salvatore

sword coast is my most favorite region. i just love the idea of a huge city which was built on top of the most dangerous dungeon in all of faerūn. :)
how exciting ... and all the sinister stories in just one city.

cheers,

Unfortunately i don't know much about FR, i've played icewind dale I & II, NWN I & small amount of II, and read same RA Salvatore books. I would like to see a NWN like game for DragonLance.

Sword Coast (covers it all, suitable for ANY range of character, very rich in history/big myths/grand heroes and so forth), Spine of the World (Quite harsh region and filled with tough monsters, pretty fun though), Cormanthor (Myth Drannor anyone? :D).

We once tried to run a Campaign in Kara-Tur but gave up pretty quick, not much Background on that one, few weapons and the 'normal' Weapons don't fit in that well and so on.

Vaasa, Damara and Narfell. Those areas are sadly quite undeveloped (to my knowledge :p ). They would be an interesting place to develop a new storyline in.

Also, Aglarond is probably the top of my favourite places in Faerun. Lots of history, lots of magic and mystery. And of course it's ruler, the Simbul, is just awesome. :p :D
