Hi there, and welcome to the Thieves Guild. Take a minute and introduce yourself. We have a great site here, and more being added all the time. So sign in, and make yourself at home.
Greetings everyone
I found this site by chance and very happy that I did. I've been reading and browzing for a couple weeks now. I decided to introduce myself. I have been playing NWN for a long while now and have just finished the OC in NWN2. I really love this website and all the information it offers. I also noticed the community seems to be really helpful. Not so much flaming like several others.
The only problem I have with this website are the colors! Very hard to read w/out high lighting. This could be just me though. I have visual trouble with color contrast.
I am a mommy of a 2 yo son and 9 yo daughter. Full time mom, Full time wife, part time gaming nerd. BTW mom's game to!

Guess i could say a little about myself. :p I'm a 24yr old in the us military. Work hard, play hard. I've been a soldier for about 5 years now, and gaming since I was about 11 when I got my first computer. Have played every forgotten realms computer games; including ad&d games on diskette back in windows 3.11 days, BG, BG2, icewind dale1 & 2, NWN1 and now NWN2... I also played Everquest for about 4 1/2 years, and have played World of Warcraft since release. I'm a member of what some would concider an "elite" guild of players called Fusion, that has spanded over the past 6 years, starting on Everquest and filtered into most of the MMORPGs that released and now settles on WoW. Also a moderator on our lovely Thieves-guild.net :)
maybe i should reprioritize...lol.. since i'm not married nor any prospects :P oh well, life goes on...hehe.. full time soldier, hardcore gamer, social slacker :P
PS.. the boss is going to flame the heck out of me for saying i play MMORPGs, he hates them..lol

I do not find MMO's as engaging as RPG's. The only reason I am still playing WoW is b/c my husband does. Oh yeah I like the Battle Grounds! :p

Okay Okay! I have played Final Fantasy but not online. I've played Diablo I + II as well. And Guild Wars? I read about it and found it not something I would be interested in. The others I've not played. Remember I have kids! hehehe. I'm lucky to have found the time for the ones I have played :p Oh and not to leave out all the fantastic modules from the NWN Vault community. I have played some that are far better than the OC or expansions.

I'm 29, 've been livin' in good old germany since I hit the world :)
Currently studying Computer Science and always have been a RPG freak since I discovered this genre back in 1990. "Eye of the Beholder" was the first real RPG I played, of course set in the Forgotten Realms ;)
That was/is the game where four adventurers slain the Beholder "Xanathar" beneath the City of Splendors, Waterdeep.
Later on I played "Eye of the Beholder 2". Those two games are still one of my most favorite games of all time. With "Baldur's Gate" and "Baldur's Gate 2" I was so happy that I again had the chance to explore the world of Faerūn. Then I played NwN like for 2 years straight. Was a member, then Head Dungeon Master in ALFA (A Land Far Away, one of the best Persistent Worlds out there, re-creating Faerūn with more then 10 Servers etc). I covered Undermountain/Skullport with my DMing and had a lot of fun, met very nice people all around the world and neglected my stuides :P
I've also always been a fan of Morrowind. I was looking forward playing Oblivion. That is where this site came in. First, I started thieves-guild.net as an Oblivion Fan Site. But I quickly realized that its support was crap. And with having NwN2 in the back of my mind I decided with lurchman (Thanks again, mate) to change this site dedicating it to NwN2 :)

Hello everyone, guess I'll follow suite and say a bit about myself. I am 30 yrs old and divorced. I have 2 sons, 2 and 4 whome I get to see every other weekend. (really sucks). I've been gaming since I was around 7-8 yrs old, started out in DnD first addition and gradually migrated up to AD&D. I haven't really played in the d20 stuff mainly for the fact that I don't like how the rules changed. I've also played VtM first and second addition (stopped playing when 3rd add. came out), Rifts, Palladium <sp>, Star Wars, everything that White Wolf has released save for Changling, Swords and Sorceres, and Exalted.
As for my MMORPGs:
Started with Everquest 1 (1 year, got bored)
DAoC: (about 5 yrs)
Star Wars: (up to the point that they destoryed the game)
Final Fantasy Online: (almost a year)
Lineage 2: (almost a year)

My name is Drew, I go by the handle "ADnD'R" (which seems to have confused peeps elsewhere, its just short for "A D&D playerR").
I'm a Software Engineer (fancy title for coder) and have been a D&D fanatic since the 70's, a coder before that, and a NWN scripter, DM, builder, since, umm, late 2002 or so. Its combines the best of both worlds for me, that is, my two biggest interests, C coding and D&D. My first world was Thousand Thunder Mountains (local vault world), and I've worked on several others since that time, finally ending up as a scripter/builder for the SV PW World of Haven X.
I was originally in the Greyhawk camp, although I've warmed to FR over the past few years.
Loved: NWN, Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, Temple of Elemental Evil (despite its bugs), Oblivion, Diablo2, and especially Dungeon Keeper (the original)
Liked: Planescape, Dungeon Lords (it had such promise)
Disliked: World of Warcraft
Hated: Dungeon Siege, Dungeon Keeper 2, Ultima Online
Anyway, dat's me. I quested hence in search of an answer, and although I think the answer is unlikely to be found here, I like the look & feel of the place, and maybe I'll hang my helmet here for awhile . . . .

My name is Hazach, I have been playing D&D games since they bagan in the 60's, and wizards and warriors before that. I look forward to meeting some of you and possibly adventuring in cyberspace. I have played all of the NWN modules I could get my hands on, finished NWN2 with 4 class/race builds, played BG1&2, wizars and warriors, ToEE, and many other games I thought might have some roleplaying feature to them only to find, to my dismay, they did not....blah. I am looking for an online world to play in. I don't know if this guild has a PW that it is currently using or recommending, but I would like to find some folks I could join on some campaigns. I hope I am writing this in the right forum and not just rambling on the tavern like some drunken slob,,,..

My name is Peter Panjer, Just an ordinary 17-year-old Dutch guy.
I used to be a fan of Japanese RPG's (Final Fantasy, Chrono trigger, Lufia etc) but ever since I discovered Baldur's Gate and the possibilities it offered for character development I've been totally hooked to D&D RPG's.

Planescape: Torment (Best storydriven RPG IMO, with BG2 a close second)

I'm a big fan of bards and lately I've been thinking of trying online roleplaying but I've yet to find a group of people that would have me, hopefully I'll meet some nice people here who share my interest in roleplaying. (But like I said I'm still a bit green in the online department but I'm eager to learn)

I though I'd introduce myself before posting anything else. I'm a 20 years old girl gamer and a student living in Finland. I actually started plaing computer games at age of 12, first game being an arcade-style shooter called Tyrion. Since then I've discovered the wonderful world of RPG's and online games, and played through quite a long list of those games, including all of the "Neverwinter" titles.
I guess I can also call myself a roleplayer, even though I haven't actually ever tried anything involving actual game board and a Dungeon Master. I've mostly done live RP (I think the correct term in english is Larp), text-based roleplaying on the forums and plenty of In-character action in online games like WoW and Everquest. I like roleplaying very much, but I think I have to study the DnD ruleset a little more before I manage to gather enough courage to participate in some RP'ing here.
I have to say that I really like your site, there is a lot of useful information and the community seems very nice. The walkthrough has helped me greatly in getting past some tricky spots in the game, and few tips in here have stopped me from going crazy over some particularly nasty bug. Keep up the good work!

I'm Joka the Bardess, 16yo, live in Belgrade, Serbia. I can only access the internet using my brother's computer, so I appear here periodically, like, every 2 or 3 days :o
I adore bards and, as much as that is possible here, on this Earthern plane, consider myself one. I'm a pupil of a gymnasium famous in Belgrade for torturing the poor learned ones, and I study hard, so I guess that gives me some lore points :) I write tales (working on a longer one I hope I'll soon finish and get published) in Serbian, and songs in English. Can't live without music (especially Blind Guardian and Iron Maiden made). And rpg-s, of course.
My favourite ones (forgive me if some of them aren't exactly rpg-s?):
BG2 (SoA; Throne of Bhaal made me really mad at certain points (read: super-monks immune to time-stop - "sorry lass, you've just made your case worse by casting a 9th level spell, dough!" and invisible stalkers that kill only and precisely your PC after finally slaying a dragon and not having an opportunity to save!))
BG1 (with tutu)
Planescape: Torment (really rules!)
IWD1, IWD2
NwN1, NwN2
KotOR1, KotOR2,
Fallout2 (didn't finish it, but I like it a lot)
Morrowind (now, Oblivion - that thing made me *really* mad, because it gets unstandably hard to play at a higher level)
Now I'm playing Lionheart (the holy crusade, I think? :o ). It is somehow easier to depart from than NwN2, sorry :)
My brother introduced me to these great games, every time cursing the day he did so (back while we were stuck on one computer). Eventually, I got more looney about them than he is LOL

To answer your question: It all depends on what you want with your bard, you want him to be a diplomatic person who can sway even the foulest of orcs? (my favourite choice) you can do that! You can make a fighter-bard with powerfulsongs or a dart-trowing buffcasting bard or maybe a crossbow-slinging desperado-bard, needless to say the bard class is very versatile! :D (and my personal favourite)
Anyway enough rambling, hope you enjoy the forum, I certainly do! :p

Playing a bard is cool, you can do many things, cast spells, sneak or pickpocket if you develop that way (which I like, but still do only in games :) ), optionally be good at fighting, and, most importantly, sing and play... weeeee! Also, bards should have great lore.
All in all, just like the students in my gymnasium... we (bards) know a bit of everything, yet are good in nothing :D Joking, of course. Wouldn't like to make Panjer mad LOL . Besides, I, at least, have my favourite subjects (maths and chemics - alchemy :) )
Bards are also poets, tale tellers and, possibly, writers, but that doesn't concern beating up Garius and KoS, does it?
That's all I can think of. It's not very easy playing a bard. Sometimes it feels like it's one really mixed up multiclass character.

I've got my own forum (civilizationcenter.com/forums), which i co own. I'm 14 and i'm heavily involed in the mega civ4 mod Rise of Empires. I know many different computer programs and i use them in my mod.
The colours are a bit dark but otherwise a great site cal1s!

Looks pretty quiet in here - is this a new site? I was directed here by someone who posts on another forum. Said you had good info on Crossroads Keep. Haven't checked it out yet, but I will.
About me: I'm 70, female, love computer games, and have been playing since I was in my 50s - but it was Daggerfall that REALLY got me hooked... :)
I also do cross-stitch, write stuff, and compile crosswords for a local mag.
I have played all the Baldur's Gate, Icewind, and NWN games.
I have also played all the Elder Scrolls games from Daggerfall onward.
And the Might & Magic games.
And lots of other games besides, some good, some bad, some loved some unloved - and some of the ones I loved are NOT those generally regarded as 'good'! They just appealed to me a lot... :)
And I talk a lot! I am a member of 11 other forums, but mostly only post regularly on five of them... after all, I have games to play... :D

I am still a little new to the whole neverwinter nights 2 games. i do love playing rpgs and mmorpgs. i'm a huge fan of final fantasy series and few more for the consoles. Hello everyone,
I'm Christian (that's my name, not my religion), 25yrs old and I live in Bremerhaven, Germany. I'm currently busy with my fulltime study of Maritime Technologies. I came across this site when I searched for modules for NWN2.
I started playing back in 1990/1 with the good old Jump 'n' Runs like Commander Keen and such. My first RPG to play was a great Shareware Game called Aethra Chronicles that sadly never got finished. My first AD&D based game was Planescape: Torment, which was great and really made me a fan of RPGs and me and my friends even bought the P&P Version of AD&D. After playing a lot of RPGs that've been mediocre at best(I'm sure I forgot some great game now, so correct me if I'm wrong), Fallout came along and it was great! A year later Baldur's Gate finally got released and that got me hooked up to the whole series, one of the greatest games I've ever played. Other [MMO]RPGs I really like inculde: Ultima Series, Elder Scrolls Series, Ice Wind Dale series, Fallout I&II (thinking that part III may become Oblivion with guns makes my stomach turn by the way), Some parts of Might&Magic, Lands of Lore, Diablo(all of them), [Lineage 2, R.O.S.E. Online]. Well that's about it. I hope to learn about a lot of modules here and some other interesting stuff.

Kyllroy here I found your very nice site , a week or so ago, by means of a search for Crafting recipes. I am amazed that it has only been around a year. I love the structure around which you can find almost all of the interesting NwN lore you can shake a stick at under one roof.
I have been around the community since the release of NwN1, Played on Nafka and Neversummer servers there.
For the last three years I have been the sole moderator on a Yahoo Group called Neverwinter Nights Crazy, and have built a core of interested players, builders and craftspeople that love the game.
The first thing I did, after finding the Thieves Guild, was link this beautiful site so more of the community can merge.
The first impressions were and are all good ones. Thanks for the hard work guys. I may be here a long while if you keep it up.

Gruthrz, welcome. I'm a long time Elderscrolls fan too. But I started with Arena, but really got hooked with Daggerfall. Morrowind was my favorite though. I really liked Tod McFarlanes concept art for it.

I'm a RP she-geek who's into PC gaming, chess, wuxia, prolly a few other things. I've been roaming Faerun since since the first NWN and am currenlty playing the OC for NWN2. Other games I'm playing are Jade Empire, Oblivion (Elder Scrolls IV), World of Warcraft, and Guild Wars. I also theme game fansite message boards as a hobby. Hello, My name is Elmo and I have also been a D&d player since the '70's. I have played on NWN 1 since it came out and was found on aw's poa mod and then EW POA and of course Bardo's POA. I have enjoyed RPG games on the computer since the old SSI series and have really enjoyed the Baldurs Gate series, Icewind dale series and of course NWN 1&2. I am a computer tech and am retraining for network engineer now. I have never built anything for NWN other then servers and I am considered an advanced player that can do playtesting on beta mods. Oh by the way does Mechcommander count as a RPG? :)

Hiya Elmo Syclya and Schalafi. I play with Elmo on occasion, do either of you play multiplayer?
never have but something I always wanted to try. Are there generally level requirements? I'm under the impression most servers are for max level so I was waiting to finish OC and MotB. I currently have a Paladin 5/Spirit Shaman 2 and a Fav Soul 5/Cleric 13. My NWN-1 chars didn't survive a re-format so I would have to reroll those to play on old school multiplayer servers.
Oh my no! There are basically two types of multiplayer servers. Local Vault and Server Vault. You can filter out one or the other to find things easier. The Local ones allow you to choose one of your pre-built characters to begin with. The Server ones require that you begin fresh and level up within the particular server from the ground up. I prefer these, even though its more work, you make friends and usually find someone to watch your back in the tougher areas. This equals more fun and challenges that solo play cannot give even with the AI of the henchmen. Plus the henchmen never laugh at your corny jokes....;)
well no wonder my jokes were falling flat! All those Luskan Lagers I bought Khelgar and he just sat there scratching his head. :p

I have been playing on Iniquity, in PW Action and Soul Forge in PW Story. There are several more linked here on this site (PW-General Discussion). I do reccomend both for new players since the warring factions in the lots of the other Action PVP type servers can put you off if you haven't been there before.
However, if your forte is pure RP, you will be more at home in a Pure RP server on the Roleplay section. You are on your own here, because I get rediculiously sick of rule lawyers citing various infractions and talking in King James English like you were in attendance at a Rennisance Faire.

As with all these user created servers there are pros and cons. Some, like the one you linked show many hours of hard work, but may not be for everyone. I, for instance, would never play a server that featured "perma death" no matter what. I value my time spent in development of a game character too much to see it dissolved in a mistake. I do see the challenge however and it is intriguing.
oh man how did I overlook 'perma-death' lol? Yeah I'm with you on nixing that. I'm way too lazy to reroll chars :p I might re-roll a toon under level 10 if I really wanna change the build but not after every lost battle ugh. Thanks for bringing that to my attention.

Dice is a nick-name from my habit of rolling dice for choices I don't care about the outcome for. And other things, besides that. I'm 23 years old. Well, I didn't stay long enough to get any more than annoyed. I can't even remember the server title. Probably mentally blocked to save energy for better things. ;)
Anyway, more goes on to make your stay enjoyable in these servers, than the other way around. I think there are beginning to be more to choose from also.
Thieves Guild seems to have all the resources to arm you for the long haul, anywhere you go.

i dunno. imo i dont see the difference between baulders gate III and nwn2.
its just another forgotten relmes game. gameplay will be completely different due to a new engine (with possibly sucky cameras). oh, it also says that its being done as a nwn2 module.

JE Sawyer is still working by himself on the Original BG3 that was named "The Black Hound". The product (code named Jefferson) I believe - got canned for a variety of reasons and Josh is picking it up. There's a thread on it in our forums. He hasn't done much lately.
Whether RPGCodex and the article from PCGamer UK have an alleged BG3 confused with Josh's effort is debatable.

Hi guys, i'm back in town, finally played NWN2 and will start posting again.
Wow, I'm so behind everyone else.

First of all, I haven't even played NWN 2 in a few months, because the downstairs computer in the kitchen is twenty years old (no joke) and my dad wiped his computer, and hasn't reinstalled anything on it besides Oblivion and the old NWN.

And I've never really gotten very technical with making my characters.
Usually I just come up with something simple.
The only two successful characters that I've had that I actually liked were:
a) a worthless half-elf Bard that dies all the time
b) an equally worthless dark elf Arcane Archer (but he was hot)
I play RP games for the story.

Is that like one of the old TUBE style computers that fills up an entire wall? j/k I do remember those old computers though - current computers have as much video RAM as those old goliaths had in MAIN RAM; and the hard drives wouldn't hold a patch let along an entire game, LOL

shadowmar, If you get the chance to experience a true session of DnD with a good dungeon Master that leads you on an exciting and rewarding campaign you may change your opinion on "board games". Most of the game takes place in your imagination...can be a lot of fun. :)

I stumbled across this useful looking site just now whilst looking for useful, detailed information pertaining to all things PW/ multiplayer NWN2.
I'm an old player/ DM of NWN1 (long live Avlis!), and now with the release of numerous fixes to NWN2, I have decided to attempt my own multiplayer Module(s) which will eventually culminate into a fully fledged PW. The website in my profile, has just been put up, and currently there's no content there. I will update it as and when I can (total n00b to website building).
I have a feeling that this will be a very steep learning curve, but what with this site and a few others, I hope to get to grips with the toolset and make some half believable modules!
