I haven't been able to find anything in the manual regarding how many attacks you get with bows, crossbows, etc (feats notwithstanding).

Is it the same as the # of melee attacks you get?

well actually it all depends on your AB (Attack Bonus)

cheers,

The BAB?

So for example, a level 6 fighter with a BAB of +6/+1 gets two attacks with a long bow?

It used to be that crossbows were somewhat slower, with a heavy crossbow attacking once every two rounds (barring a Crossbow of Speed or a specialist).

It is based on your base attack bonus, not your total attack bonus, for example fighters get 1 BAB per level and every 4th point of BAB (I think) you get an extra attack per round so fighters/paladins/rangers/etc get a maximum of 5 attacks per round at level 20 (7 with dual wield) and other classes get less. Ranged weapons use the same BAB as melee weapons so you get the same attacks per round (excluding feats). Crossbows are slower but tend to do more damage than longbows/shortbows and can be used by any class/race

Ok, if crossbows are slower, how much slower? Does this mean a level 20 fighter/ranger/paladin also gets to throw five shuriken or five throwing axes a round?

no.

you have to fire, then reload.

you will only get one attack per round with a crossbow, and maybe 2 with a longbow.

as to the bab rules i posted them somewhere else.

EDIT: ok, back, here is a conversation about combat rules, and it includes bab. http://www.thieves-guild.net/forum/showthread.php?t=612&page=2
you can only get 4 attacks due to bab, and the increment is on every number over +5.

as far as i can see. reloading a light or hand crossbow is a move equivalent action. you can have one move-equivalent action and one attack action a round. so you can reload and attack, but both actions can incur attacks of opportunity.
reloading a heavy or repeating crossbow takes a full round action, so you have to attack seperatly. with a repeating crossbow you can make a full attack action, but i dont think they where included in nwn2.
i cant find an action listing for reloading a bow, so im assuming that it is a free action and that you can make a full attack with it.

Umm.... ookay...

So... does this mean that to reload it is the same as an "attack"? So while a 20th level fighter would have 4 melee attacks, he would only have two attacks per round with a bow because he has to spend an "attack" reloading, and even less with a crossbow?

no, as far as i can see, a bows reload is a free action, so if you make a full attack, you can have 4 attacks.

however a light crossbow takes a move equivalent action to reload. you can only have one attack action (first attack) and one move equivalent action (reload) per round, you only get the other attacks on a full attack action, and you cant make that with a crossbow.
a heavy crossbow needs a whole round to reload, so its 1st round)fire 2nd round) reload.
