If I am to multiclass my paladin or go for a prestige class, which should I go for? Best combo!

Also, what is the earliest level I can change to a prestige class? Level 7? level 10?

Thanks!:p

first of all, hello and welcome ..

second, we got a quite comprehensive prestige class section to your left. have you tried reading it? there you can get info on what prestige class could fit to your paladin and your playing style besides the requirements you need to fulfill...

WOW...that was a fast reply. Yes, I've taken a look at the prestige classes, but am still confused with what to go with. I want a character that can hold out on its own in case the other members of the team die.

was thinking about Paladin-Divine Champion or Paladin-Weapon Master.

Paladin / DC is a natural fit as their feats both build off Charisma. In fact, its a nasty combo.

Weapon Master might be doable but I think that's a better fit for a fighter.

personally i love playing character concepts which arent the norm.

have you considered becoming a harper agent or a neverwinter nine? :)

i especially love the idea of a paladin becoming a harper agent ... but since i am always focusing my self on roleplaying and forget all about numbers that would really only make real sense in terms of roleplaying.

if you are all into numbers a harper agent wont be the first choice i guess ...

Is it possible to multiclass/prestige class the other characters on my team?

Would be nice if I had a tanker/slasher with lots of armor and hp, a spellcaster/healer/booster, trap&lock expert proficient with the bow, and the final guy with "flair" and "great dodge/evasion" eg. duelist, assassin, or monk.

thats not possible .. but as far as i know there is a mod out that makes it possible ... so you could make khelgar go dwarfen defender for instance ....

if you find that mod please PM me the url and i will put it here in the download area ...

umm...sorry...what do you mean by "into numbers"? I'm still kinda new to D&D style RPGs. Don't know how and when to multiclass. Is multiclass better than prestige class? or do everyone go for prestige classes?

If you play as a paladin/harper agent, will you still be in the front lines or "supportive role" from the back?

As far as I have seen, it is not possible to multiclass the npc's.

I guess that depends on your style. I usually play pure classes - like paladin 20 or mage 20; but that's because I don't particuarly like "munchkinizing" my characters by tossing in an odd class of monk or sorceror or some other bizarro class just because it takes advantage of an exploit. :D On the other hand, I will use some multi class combos and prestige class mixtures - t achieve something like an arcane archer build. Awesome character. :D

If I want to play as the "flair" guy on the team, will there be a character that I can choose to be my "supertanker/frontline guy"?

I kinda like characters that parry, dodge, duck, whirl, etc. ....."FLAIR"! LOL
But of course I will need a tanker/slasher to take care of most of my enemies.

Do you have a list that shows all the different "team member options" I will meet in the game and where I can get them to join my team?

cal1s
01.17.07, 11:43
the dwarf khelgar is perfect for being your tank ... keep in mind equipping your characters accordingly ... you may want to specialize khelgar in dwarven waraxes .. but you dont need to .. you can specialize himi in every weapon you want actually ...

but khelgar is definatly the first choice of being a tank ...

Look at the duelist prestige class then :D

As with any PrC, read the requirements carefully. :D

by pure class, I understand it means no multiclass. Do prestige classes pass for pure class or mixed? sorry ...i'm still new at this...

if I want to do the "duelist" prestige class, at what level should I be able to change? level 7? level 10?

cal1s
01.17.07, 12:33
i believe going prestige class also means going multiclass ...

I'm still confused with one thing. If I "multiclass" from say a rogue to a duelist, how many levels can I get with a rogue and how many levels with a duelist?
eg. 6/10? ....what is the maximum number of levels I can achieve in this game?

cal1s
01.17.07, 12:48
you could go 10 rogue / 10 duelist ...

maximum level you can achieve in the OC (Official Cmpaign) of nwn2 currently is 20.

can you please tell me what the maximum level is for a duelist that I can achieve? some other classes such as the harper has a maximum level of 5; an the divine champin 10. But how about the duelist?

alphanfred
01.17.07, 12:50
could i go, for example, rogue 5/duelist 15? or rogue 15/duelist 5?

cal1s
01.17.07, 12:52
rogue 5 / duelist 15 no, because you can only have 10 levels in duelist
again, please read the according section, its all listed there :)

rogue 15 / duelist 5 yes ... :)
but in that case you need to calculate if you wouldnt miss out features that more duelist levels could provide ...

:) err...some prestige class "pages" don't tell the max level that we can achieve. but thanks for answering! you've really helped me a LOT! It's kinda lonely playing games like this in Thailand. Most Thais aren't very fluent in English nor have the patience to play a game like this. Most go for FPS or MMORPG (did i do that right? LOL). I like challenges though. That's why I bought this to play. Unfortunately....no one to consult with. duh!

cal1s
01.17.07, 13:03
well you found your home then :)

and if you carefully read the duelist page you will find out that it is mentioned you can have max level of 10 with that class ;)

cheers

if I have any more questions later (which I definitely will!), can I ask more by just continuing in this post/thread? or should I start a new one? I'll have to go to sleep now. I had a lot of fun "chatting/forumming" with you! It's midnight here now though. haha! Gotta go to work tomorrow at 6:15 AM (thailand time). Thanks again! :)

if its fitting in this thread/topic than post here. if its another question related to another topic, first search the forums...if you dont find the answer, create a new thread.

Awesome character. :DI just multied a fighter I started at 8th level to add a level of Cleric. Being used to playing a Paladin, I was rather chafed by not being able to cast magic *at all*. So, adding a level of Cleric made sense to me. It got me Turn Undead (Sun Domain) and Heal Domain, three cantrips and two first-level spells. I might do that the next Paladin I run through. Oddly enough, Paladin/Rogue works well, too. I always added a level or three of Rogue to my Paladins in NWN/HotU/SoU. That way I didn't have to put up with Tomi.

!! interesting idea....i don't want to be stuck with the rogue ...i'd rather add a cleric or ranger to my group.

my main character that I played my first OC with was a 13 ranger(2-weapon fighting) and 7 Divine champion... he could heal alright, buff, summon aid, run stealth'd, track, and pwned almost anything he encountered... and use a mean bow if needed. I loved that character.. and had some fanciful acrobatic melee battles as well.. :D
