I know this will interest a few of you. If your looking to spice your game up a little, try this.
Press the tilde key, (~). This will open the command console. Type in "DebugMode 1". Hit enter, then type "commands". This will give you about 80 - 90 options to edit the game, cheat, etc. There are some limits, so if you have any questions, post them here. Have fun!

P.S. Leave out the parentheses.

Please tell me SetAppearance is still around? Anyone had the time or spent the effort to make a list of shapes from it, assuming it's still there?

As far as I know SetAppearance was around. But the latest patch removed it for the time being. We will do a complete list of the codes anyway soon.

Stay tuned ...

check out the "Cheats" section on this site. It isn't completed yet but it should give you an idea on how the console stuff works.

But before you do anything, save your game!

If you should have any questions, post them here.

Cheers

If I were you, new to this. I would make a game just to try out the commands. Some are pretty simple and don't do much. Some can alter the radically. The ones posted in the cheat section, (see menu), are pretty safe. The rest I would be careful with.

As for commands, the giveitem and givespell commands require item id's to work... These ID's can be found in the toolset.. i'll try to work on a list of this stuff if you want, but know that's alot of crap to write down and organize.. lol

That would be great. I wanted to do it, but I'm still busty with the walkthrough. Besides, I'm on dialup, and have a hard time getting the tool set.

I have all the ID numbers for the feats and the Items, but the list is quite extensive and would take up ALOT of room on the forums. But I can email it to one of the Moderators if they like and they can post it here how they see fit. Or I can just post them here and they can take them off and compile them into something smaller if need be. Let me know and I'll post/send them to where I am told.

OK this is how you need to do it.

1.) Open your console (the tild key above Tab and to the left of 1)
2.) Type in DebugMode 1 (this is case sensitive)
3.) Close the console and click on the person you want to give the item to.
4.) Open console again and enter the following: dm_spawnitem "xxxxxxxx" (don't use quotation marks) x being the item code. So for your expample it would look like this:

dm_spawnitem nw_cloth010

Hope this helps. :)

new to the site ... glad to have found it ... somehting things I've found ... none of the SetSTR, SetINT, etc seem to do anything, I have found lists of the feats such that you can add simply the feats you want ... however, I've found that simply using givefeats all works very well ... it's just the hour work to get all the usable feats into the quick launch bar at the bottem thats a pain ... spellwise, I've simply took the time in the console to enter givespell 1, [press up] [press delete] increment +1 and [enter] ... nice way to blast through them all if you looking to get a specific spell ... ie trying to get the darkness spell on Qara so that I could craft the summoning tool for Mephisto<sp?> ... interestingly enough if the spell isn't for the class person you're on it WILL NOT add the spell. givespell all 1 is a command I've found listed, but doesn't work.

commands listed in various helps that have not worked for me:
SetCHA/INT/WIS/etc

resetlevels
dm_allspells 1 (supposedly gives you all the spells... no such luck)
dm_givegold # (supposedly gives the amount of gold commanded....)
(work arround: if you're cheating anyways each time you
enter "irolltwenties" you also get this uber katana ... it sells for max return
10k in most places, 20k in your keep ... however, I've had my 4 buying NPCs
run out of money ...

Fun, but basically useless commands:
Polymorph/unpolymorph: if you enter polymorph # (1 through something like 46+ you'll get to "try on" various creature costumes ... Dragon included (field of view issue with the dragon ... ESPECIALLY while fighting the red dragon!)

For clarity, cause I haven't seen it specifically explained ... DebugMode 1 turns on access to use the console commands, it also reveals all "mapped" locations in the area. (ie, while reforging the Gith Sword you are approached by a Shadow Reaver there are 5-6 fires burning around the participants on the ensuing fight ... DebugMode 1 will show a "world map" like icon for each of those locations... get's visually messy real quick). DebugMode 0 turns the access off... also, reduces some of the "live" spot markings...

personal note. I like to go in use he console commands I'm going to use, then qquicksave, then reload... cleans the screen up a bit.

I found an item list (PDF) for the giveitem command... but it's in German ... I lucked out and took a lucky guess at Mortar $ Pestal ... hammer and nails in the german... hehe interesting.

have not found a spell id list.

also have not found a listing of scripts that are available... console command :rs kr_roster_edit: is a real nice command for rustling up some extra backup later in the game... also allows you to circumvent the "remaking the blade golem" quests ...

I think that'll do for me tonight...

hey Aerandir,

console commands, personally i haven't been able to get the dm_* commands to work either, dm_god or dm_givegold.. haven't tried any others, but there's really no need for these unless you just totally want to ruin the gameplay. and since there's no DM client out yet, i'm guessing that it wont be until there is, that these commands can be fully implemented..
the stat commands, like all the others are CaSe SeNsiTiVe.. so if you were typing them in like "SetSTR..." it wouldn't work, because it should be "setSTR" with the first 's' lowercase...

instead of typing in "irolltwenties" where this can totally mess your characters stats up and prevent proper leveling, even while cheating... if you only want to get ahold of the weapon, type "giveitem roll20s" this will give you the enchanted paprus blade and only the weapon.. =)

as for an item and spell scroll list... i just completed this, as stated in my post prior to this one... it contains all items listed in the Toolset for NWN2... all ID's are usable with the "giveitem" command.. this list should be added onto the site soon

I appreciate the trueness of leveling and playing the game through with proper leveling and such. However, I consider cheating much like what was expressed in the NeverWinter 2 forums ... "I play a game to enjoy the story line of it. Not to experience how hard the programmers were able to make it." Using the cheats I have I've been able to progress through the story very easily while still needing to resolve the puzzles that are put into the game. Also, the monotony of the fighting is greatly decreased... so I'm left to be able to enjoy the conversation and story line...

I'll be very eager to see the item list! thank you for your work!

ps... I did try to use setSTR it still did not seem to effect my character ... is it known whether there is a set maximum of 20? After entering irolltwenties, all your stats are set to 20 as well ... ths may be a reason why SetSTR isn't working. In argument: the command list in the console has it entered as SetSTR with both "s" being capitalized? they wouldn't list the command in the commands list as it should be entered?

yes, stats cannot be raised higher than 20. the only other way to raise your stats past 20 is by the equipment that your character is wearing. which is why i say it prevents proper leveling of the character, due to stats being raised at certain levels and with the stats maxed the leveling process cannot be completed.

And in no way, am i putting down people that use cheats. Developers put them in the game for added experience of the game. hell, i cheat when i feel like it. But in order to maximize characters of whatever class, i'd use "givexp 210000" on your main character, which will level to 20, and any companion you get after this should be lvl 20 as well.. complete the leveling process for the character, then type in "irolltwenties" for maxed stats on your character and your companions, just to avoid any unwanted complications and be able to maximize the class you are playing. :) With this done, you and your companions can still very much die, even on "EASY" difficulty, but it will take an army to do so, without buffs. and since the "dm_god" command doesn't work at this present time, it's the best you can do, by my guess

Hi all,
Through my tinkering I believe that when you levelup using XP the game will compensate with higher powered enemies.
So should you wish to make the game easier stick to giving specific spells (especially importent to Qara), Items & of course Feats - you can use the "printfeats" command to list a character's current feats (& their number) & then using the givefeat - add it to a different PC/NPC?
Hope this helps...

Actually the dm_god does work. It's just kinda wonkie is all. What you have to do, well this is how I get it to work anyways, is to first open the console and type in DebugMode 1. Then close the console and select the last character in your group. Then open the console again and type dm_god, and close the console again and select another character. Rinse and repeat for each character.

Now what I have found is that there is some sort of timer or something that turns it off at time. Be it leveling, entering into another area, or just random. I just repeat the process when I see that one of my characters are takeing damage.

Hope this helps.

Maljinn is right. God mode has to be entered, for each one individually. Kinda stinks, but that's it. Haven't got the gold one to work yet either. Never had any problem with getting gold though. I also found thar raising things like INT, STR, and such, can only be raised as far as your current level allows. I had to raise the level of my character to raise a stat. I don't know if anybody ran into this.

I'm twiddling my thumbs ... half watching ... when I notice all my henchies are incapacitated ... 8 of them then I noticed that I had gone to like 20% health ... WHOA ... this was different ... I watched during the next few heart heaving moments while I landed a couple criticals ... [immune to criticals] ... ack ... another few hits and the reaver went down... yeah you can still die even with:

Level 20 Drow Thief w/all skills 20+, all Feats ... armor <shrug> I've no idea I hadn't given it much thought...

then just after putting the Silver Sword back together I fought the 3rd reaver ... SPOILER COMING!!! in case you hadn't heeded the warnings thus far ... well I forgot to read the scroll ... lemme tell ya ... them silver sword abilities coupled with 8 magical and/or mighty warrior companions attacking with all their might ... for ..... NAUGHT! creates some multitudinous (word?) battle spam! I actually let it go for about 45 minutes while I researched what I was supposed to be doing ... left to go out to lunch, came back ... no difference ... I think all total us and the reaver fought for like 2 REAL TIME hours ... whew ... I don't even wanna imagine what that would have been like at a table, character sheets and a bunch of die being thrown... ugh.

I agree, it gives an edge, but it can still be tough. I know, because I've been using a couple of them. Doing the walkthrough, I've been powering my way through it, to get the WT done. Mostly for the purpose of covering the Main quest. The second time I go through, I will go a lot slower and look for more. And I will include a lot more info. Also, I'll have more fun playing normal.

Hi.

I have major difficulties getting these cheats to work.

I have both put the debug mode in manually through the ini file and in game by writing DebugMode 1 in the console.

Does anyone know if these cheats are still functional in the 1.03 beta patch??
thats the one I have installed.

First of all, the 1.03 patch has been finalized. You should get the removal patch to get rid of the beta, and install the final version.
I have not heard of any problems concerning the cheats and the V1.03 patch.
What cheats are you having a problem with?

I just checked my nwn ini file and found DebugMode=1 under game options,

i open the chat window pressing enter

i write "setSTR 20" ( without the exclamation marks) i press enter, nothing happens but i see the text floating above my chars head.

my version is nwn 2 LE Nordic ( im from Norway) this also means i have a european keyboard so the ~ key is located to my right, my top left key is this paragraph (§)

these are the only cheats im interested in as i just wanna goof around with some builds and nothing more.

i have tried all of the different stats and none of them work

my race is wood elf ( currently) and i just downloaded the latest official patch.

Any clue what I might be doing wrong??

You open the chat window?

To use DebugMode 1 in game you have to right click a character to make sure they are highlighted. A second character box will open on your screen of the highlighted character. Then hit the ~ key (this key is left of your number keys at the top, not the keypad) This will bring down a hazy console screen that covers around 1/3 of your screen. Then you type DebugMode 1 then enter. Once this sends the message to the server you can proceed with your commands. Once finished you just type DebugMode 0 to end this.

If you plan on using any cheats for your henchman, you must do them the same way. Each will have to be highlighted and done individually.

Open Console, and type
DebugMode 1 (then hit enter)
setSTR 20 (then hit enter)
DebugMode 0 (then hit enter)
Close console

I know adding some options in my nwn.ini file didn't work for me, which is why I am suggesting this.

Hi there and thanks for the input but, here is the problem I have a NORWEGIAN keyboard. I cannot use the same button configs as u guys do ( unless youre also norwegian but that wouldnt be my luck would it?

so the ~ key is located to the right of my keyboard ( next to enter) and the top left of my keyboard would be a button with a § on it. ( yes esc is still top left)

I have tried every key on my key board with and without having the character window open, i do not get this console to open up, and it annoys me.

again i dont have a US keyboard so i need to know the european or prefereably nordic version of the keys that have to be pressed.

these commands are case sensitive.. the command should be inputed for example

" SetSTR 20 "
with the S in Set capitalized.. I never mess with this, but you should be able to get it with that... also there is a list of commands available through the console, but since you are having to use the chat window to input everything... try typing " ##commands " this should/might print a list of commands in your chat window..:)

Nope, still does not work :(

and now i put it in like this ##SetSTR 20, the following pops up in my chatwindow

**console**SetSTR ( no number mentioned)

if I put no space in after the command: SetSTR20, the message is
**console**SetSTR20 but nothing happens.

I remember using the CLUAconsole on Baldurs Gate and it worked as a charm, but this one seems to be all trouble:(

also i tried the ##commands but unfortunately this did not do anything:(

I have also tried to switching to lower numbers and this does not seem to affect the process.

maybe i need to space the numbers more with "20", Im all out of ideas, arrrrrg

Ok I know the console itself works now as I tried the irolltwenties comand and got a sweetass katana and a fubar character, had to reload, but I know it works now.

any updates on the status of the Set... commands? Do they work at all?

Hey there, great web site you folks have going.

I never felt like bothering to craft anything till the middle of act 3, where I am now...but I sold off my morter and pestel to a merchant who is no longer accessable. I found the list of item tags, but it did not include the morter and pestle or the smith's hammer, anyone know the itemID of those two items? Thanks much in advance!

Just remember to open console and type "DebugMode 1" first otherwise it won't work.

MaljinnI would really appreciate a list of the numbers on the feats.

Nope, still does not work :(

and now i put it in like this ##SetSTR 20, the following pops up in my chatwindow

**console**SetSTR ( no number mentioned)

if I put no space in after the command: SetSTR20, the message is

Outside the debug console, make sure you do both a left and right click on the character you are trying to change/give items too....I had problems with Stats untill I made sure to select the character and then right click on him before doing a SetINT command on him
