Description
Traveling on a Caravan bound for Sundabar, a terrible storm has whipped up forcing Caravan Master Sergei Wettell to pull in for the night in the tiny hamlet of Tragidor. But a sinister secret is brewing in this little town where nothing is as it seems. A town full of life where it's people hack their lives out of the wilderness bearing their children along the way.

A town where everyone has a story... some spanning generations. This is the remake of the old Tragedy in Tragidor updated for NWN2.

General guidelines are...
5th level character for Hard
6th level character for Medium Challenge.
7th level character for Easier Challenge.

This is a harder module and in some places requires some tactics. If you decide to play this with Bloom on, remember to turn down your brightness a bit, I have noticed the Bloom really brightens everything a bit much. Might want to turn down the shadows in the forest, they get a bit intense there. This module includes No Rest areas... they are... Ruined Keep Dungeon Ruined Keep Catacombs Goblin Caves Obelisk/Drow Caverns Abyss Tragidor Town Outdoors Safe Rest areas: Moonwood Moonwood Plateau Moonwood Deepforest Ruined Keep Secret Passage Tragidor Buildings Edge of Nowhere Strange Room This has never been tested for multiplayer so I don't know how that will turn out. That said if anyone wishes to adapt it to multiplayer they are more than welcome to.

Cool. My husband directed me to this module in NWN ( *cough* I think he mentioned something about it being better than the name suggests *cough* ;) ) and I remember enjoying it a lot, so I'd like to try it again in NWN2 :)

I downloaded this from the Vault last week and started it today.

There are some funny bugs in it and if you read the comments at the Vault, you'll find that the author, Phoenixus, believes that it might be corrupted.

The discussion can be read here

http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=NWN2Modules English.Detail&id=83

They've pulled the file from the Vault while Phoenixus looks at the issues, and he hopes to have a fixed version up soon.

The version provided here, appears to be the original version.

thanks for sharing this information.

we will put the file ahold until the fixed version is online.

I had no idea that this module was going to be such a remarkable experience when I downloaded it, and to be honest, I almost didn't bother because I thought the alliteration in the title sounded a bit lame. Now that I've played through it, I'm profoundly grateful that I decided to take a look.

In fact, I'm so profoundly grateful that I've become slightly evangelical about spreading the good news about this mod. That being so, here's a quick, spoiler-free review/comment written so that other people who enjoy this sort of gaming experience won't overlook it through lack of information, as I almost did.

('lack of information' is slightly inaccurate - you can get a good idea of what this module's like from the author's comments in the interview and on the rest of this page, but anyway...)

The particular strengths of 'A Tragedy in Tragidor' are the dramatic and original story and the detailed characterisation of NPCs. Describing a module in those terms usually means that players can expect to spend most of their time as spectators who get to listen to other (supposedly interesting) characters waffle on endlessly about their emotional hang-ups and dark secrets while occasionally making persuade checks and very rarely being sent out on childishly simple quests to fetch random plot items so that the NPCs can do something cool with them - 'Tragedy in Tragidor' isn't like that. No, the main focus of 'Tragedy' is not listening to conversations - truth be told, it's killing things (and quite a lot of things, when you get right down to it). The point, though, is that time spent in 'Tragedy' taking part in conversations (and potentially, there's a lot) makes the adventuring interesting and meaningful. And because the characterisation and story are so good, it makes it very interesting indeed. And very meaningful. Oh, and it's also the basis for resolving various sub-plots, which balances out the central focus on combat nicely.

At this point, it's worth noting two groups of players who won't enjoy this module. On the one hand, this is not a module for the super-hardcore roleplayers who seem to regard a mod as a failure if they are at any stage required to actually pick up a weapon and fight something. On the other hand, players who find themselves to be easily bored by dialogue that surpasses the level of "Monsters! Over there! Go!" should also steer clear of 'Tragedy'. What is the target audience of 'Tragedy', then?

Most people who don't fall into those categories, I would venture, but especially players of pen-and-paper RPGs, as stated in the author's description. That's because this module really plays like there's a DM on the other end making things as real as possible - it hardly seems like a computer RPG at all, in fact, because the effort that Phoenixus has invested in creating plausible, context-appropriate NPC dialogue means that rather than talking to one-dimensional cookie-cutter types who exist solely to tell you "kill monsters over by the hill to earn $$", the player always has the sense of interacting with real characters. Not once did I encounter an NPC of whom I could simply say "ah, this guy is the res point/plot exposition/random passer-by/weapons store/whatever", which meant that there was a sense of always being in a real world requiring realistic behaviour. The resulting experience was practically unique in my history of playing CRPGs

Thus, 'A Tragedy in Tragidor': the action's exciting, the character interaction's enthralling, the story's engrossing, the level design's original, the detail's incredible - download it.

Phoenixus, on the off-chance you still read these posts, thanks for a great mod. I'm in awe of your skill.

Yeah, i've enjoyed it so far and i think I've pretty much finished, but a bug is currently preventing me from doing so. Will look at the updated version once I've finished the other modules I've downloaded.

I am about halfway through the Mod, and am finding it excellent in the main, despite the lack of hot female NPCs, LOL.

Well I did put the V-7 Version up on the Vault, so you might want to update this link.

Its not a major update but it does include a work around for an engine issue regarding the fog that made the characters disappear. You can still play your current version, but you may get disappearing characters in the Ruins Secret Passage area.

Just alt-tab out, and call it up from the taskbar again and it will fix that if you are one of the people getting it.

I have played it through the Drow headquarters, but the damned key that I got from the Goblin King has disappeared from my inventory! Anyone know a workaround?

P.S., I have made some maps with notes if anybody is interestied in posting them.

I'm nearing the end of this mod. I LOVE it! I had gotten a little lost at one point, but it was recoverable. So for a major thumbs up for this mod. They did a great job! :D

It is an excellent Module, deep, emotional, and true. In many resects, it is better than the OC. More, more, more...:P

It is un-noticed by some. a fleeting thing in games. I see.
Usually its teen angst.

It is an excellent Module, deep, emotional, and true.
