I just have to vent a little about the game. Let me start with how (insert favorite word here) the AI is....Im not a patient person...but its BAD!!! And is it me thinking that the cinemas got taken a little far??? i can vaccuum and make an espresso while they take place. Even the puppet mode sucks...Ive tried everything...The stupid party still won't follow orders. I exported my character last night and went back to the beginning because I have to have done something wrong for the screwed up state of the game. Wish me luck and hope that no one gets in the way when i start throwing things. I loved NWN, but this is a huge dissappointment.

Thanks for listening:mad:

Yes the AI is terrible in NWN2. The only way i've found to cope with it is to keep using the commands over and over (there is a delay when using them so don't keep clicking or they'll never move).

I'm using the XUI interface mod so the commands are shown as buttons on the HUD. Keep the party in Follow Me mode then as soon as a battle starts click Attack Nearest. If you need healing click Heal me and if they walk off click Guard Me. It can take up to 5 seconds for an order to be obeyed so you'll have to be patient. You don't need to use puppet mode but you may need to switch character if they get stuck or just become inactive.

I always have my companions on puppet mode so I don't really have that problem, I'm sure there will be some good AI mods released though. (Maybe Obsidian would be so kind as to improve it in it's patches!)

I really hope they do something with the next patch, I hate to complain..i loved NWN 1. And one more thing to add to my rant...I have been crashing so much after the last patch and i never had before it. Its just frustrating me....badly

I think my biggest complaint so far, is targeting. The enemies seem to have such a small targeting area, even the larger beast and demons. It's really difficult to target a particular one when there is a battle going on. I wish they would increase the targeteing area.

The thing I found annoying was how the "guard me" command seemed to have changed so much from NWN1.

That was the default setting I used for just about every mod, and the henchmen always were able to figure out that meant kill the enemy attacking me (melee, range, magic, it didn't matter)

They seemed to get a whole lot stupider in NWN2.

I had numerous situations where the other NPC's would stand there and watch an enemy attack me and do nothing.

It got to the point that I left it on "attack nearest" most of the time, and then watched them run off right through traps and pursue the bad guys furhter than I would have preferred.

I agree 100% with that, especially the small stuff...i keep trying to dble click and target, and I think they did get stupid with the AI...but I've complained enough about that

I've felt disappointment at times with the game, but I have to remind myself that a direct comparison between NWN1 and NWN2 is unfair. NWN1, today, is a mature product with a lot of its early bugs hammered out.

It would be more accurate to compare NWN2 to the very first version of NWN1, no (or little) custom content and its plethora of bugs. I'm sure many of us remember the "possession" bug in NWN, and the lag problems, and hoards of other bugs the game had. It's easy to forget them, but NWN was a nightmare in the beginning, it could be very frustrating at times, especially multi-player.

Graphics is the area where I feel the keenest disappointment. The graphics that they touted so hard are not good enough to justify the system requirements. Sure, spell effects are beautiful (and probably what requires a hefty graphics card) but they fell down on creating what is (to me) the most important aspect of the game - the ability to customize & create unique looking characters. While this will likely improve once they add more heads (and custom content providers do also) its still a limited system. Why couldn't they employ the same style of the facegen system used in Oblivion? That's on my wishlist for NWN3. The combat graphics also need improvement.

Things like NPC AI (monster and allies) is the easiest to improve and likely will, as it involves scripting and not dramatic game engine changes.

I also wonder what happened to the Z axis they advertised . .. . the ability to actually fly.

Hi all 1 :D

Ok, this is what i'm frust about. i have no problem using the SpellCasters standing at the back, then yelling 'Stay rooted to this spot!'. Immediately, cast some Area of Effect (AoE) devastating spells (but not cloud kill... this one's lame) which change my cursor into a big radius pointer. Select your target area and Kaboom!! But ...

No matter what i do (so far ...), for the love of RPG, how on earth do you cast any Dispel Magic onto a Single Enemy Target only ?? Seriously, i can't get this one done. I don't want all my Tankers to lose their protective spells, just dispel on that Single mongoloid sub-boss.

Your spell casters are suppose to be able to target single creature right?

Or maybe i m doing something wrong in Dispelling ??
