Greetings,

I was wondering if anyone knew of any multiplayer RP servers that I could join or if anyone is interested in RP on any server that I could join. I have played PnP for years and have been trying to find a group of people to RP with that was more into playing something other than run/slash/bash/level as fast as you can. I am more interested in content and adventure than anything else.

Thanks

I would be interested in doing something along those lines. It's been several years since I have played PnP D&D, but I have been playing other PnP RPGs though.

Let me know.:)

P.S. Would you be wanting to start all new characters, or use one that is already built? Only reason I ask is because I haven't tried the multiplayer aspect of this game yet. So I don't have a character online yet.

I haven't used the multiplayer aspect either so I don't know how it works. I was kind of hoping to get some people interested that have played the mutiplayer games before. I play mostly either alone on my pc or PnP because I like to RP, but the pc version is rather limitted. I don't know if the multiplayer games is any different unless someone is running it as a DM.

I'm talking about NWN2. I don't know about Hazach though.

i thought so, was confused as pc games offer little rp ability, if you want stuff, and wont untill there are a few decent modules out.

I disagree that pc games offer little RP ability. There have been plenty of NWN servers, (mainly PWs) in which i've had some fun role-playing. The only real problem is that not everyone agrees to play along which can ruin it, also the NWN engine only allows so much to happen. Still it is very possible and can be very entertaining, just as long as you play with a group who are also prepared to role-play. You don't 'need' a DM for a good role-played party adventure, but it does help, although PWs typically don't have enough DMs to create RP events for every party, you'd end up with half the players on the server being DMs.

NWN2 however has a far more limited multiplayer experience, it is unlikely you will find many servers with people playing frequently, not to mention that you'll have to pre-download any modules you plan to play with others. Perhaps later more will be made available but as it is now I wouldn't really bothers with trying to find a NWN2 server to role-play on, they're all still in early testing anyway.

sorry, but my point was your second paragraph

I am sorry for the confusion...I think Mac answered my questions though...thank you. I am looking for some adventuring in RP in a game with some other like-minded individuals who want to play in the world RP'ing on a server. I understand it is difficult to find a good group of people to RP with and that is why I play alone or PNP for my RP'ing experience. I just thought there might be some folks out here that were interested in RP'ing and might know where we could go to do it.

I haven't seen any rules (or I missed them) concerning touting Persistent Worlds . . and perhaps this is better suited in the "Modules" threads, but I might as well put a "plug" in here :)

I'm a DM, Scripter, and Lead Builder for our current NWN1 PW, "World of Haven X". I've been working on or supporting Persistant Worlds for the last four years. WOHX2's philosophy was to try to strike a balance between RP and Hack N Slash by promoting a world that is rewarding in both arenas. Playing styles that we do not allow:

1. Griefers / Player Killers
2. L33t speakers
3. Power Levelers (i.e, non-Rping players)

We not only discourage non-RPing players but encourage and actively reward RPer's. We require that players be In Character in all messages save private tells (party, too!) and we "shoo" those who don't comply out the door.

Most PW's out there that adverb themselves as "Rping Servers" drive XP and loot down to minuscule amounts, relying on DM-granted rewards to keep a thumb on PC levels/power. We believe in nice loot & drops (if stingy overall) and also rewarding adventurers for what they do best - adventuring. So we take a different stand by rewarding both aspects of the game, with the possible employment of level "soft caps" to discourage power levelers.

Anyway, we're hard at work on our NWN2 offering currently. It will doubtless share these same ideas; if its permitted on these forums to tout it (perhaps a "Persistent Worlds thread"?) I'll be sure to invite y'all to come participate when we're ready to put it out there. We greatly value RPer's and would be very pleased to see new faces :)

hi ADnD'R,

yes, mentioning your module on the modules forum is mayhaps better suited but no problem at all since someone was actively looking for a place to play on :)

email me a banner and more info on your PW and i will add yours to our current PW list we promote ...

cheers

Sounds like something that I would be interested in as well. Keep me posted on the progress if you would please.

This all sounds rather intriguing, so count me in. I've never tried the multiplayer part of the NWN games, but would love to.

I am also into adventuring than rather going through the world in hack n' slash mode. :) I RP in different forums (writing based) and I definitely prefer IC games.

So, let me know if/when/where you all are going to RP together. I would love to join the experience. ;)

If any of you have found any online RP servers please let me know, I've been dying to try online RPing on NWN2 :D

Adndr's PW sounds pretty good too!
