It's me again :)

I couldn't make Crossroad keep much profitable (spilled a lot more gold than I should have). Never could find those ore deposits or whatever. Where are they?
Also, are you ever supposed to come across a place called Redfallow watch? (not really sure, it sounded like that only)

Greetings

The ore deposits are randomly placed in areas you travel to. several caves etc. There are not tons of them. The well in Ember. The Hill Fire Giant area, The dragons layer, That dragon that you kill his heart to release him. There are two there (one as you land there and the other deep in the grove). One or two were in the Ironfist camp area. These are the ones that come to mind. I don't want to quote anymore so that I don't have you on a wild goose chase. hehe :)

I forgot to mention. The ore looks like sparkly chunks on a wall. They do highlight if you hit your "z" key.

Good luck

I've found a total of 16 ore locations so far. Five of them are at locations visited in chapter 1. Here's the list -
.

Chapter One: 5 locations all told

Dwarven scouts area (inside the Dwarven Clanhold)
Troll Cave near Bonegnasher lair (inside near the unstable blastglobes)
Bonegnasher lair
Eyegouger lair level 1
Eyegouger lair level 3

Chapter Two:

Well of Ember (directly behind bucket)
Crossroad Keep Escape tunnel
Duskwood cave (just past Kistral's room)

Crystal Heart area - two locations (one is on the west side)
Fire Giants area - two locations - (first watch tower and large encampment)
Red Dragon area
Wendersnaven glade
Sydney Natale Ambush
High Cliff

Don't recall hearing of any place called Redfallow Watch. I might have just glossed over it though ......

Sydney Natale Ambush - This is (or at least was for me) the Alchemical Sliver kind, and as far as im aware there is no use for this. As is one at the Fire Giants area, however I only noticed one there.

I wasn't aware that the ore locations were typed or that it made any difference. You could be right, though - I'll double check on my newest run-through. :)

Well, at those two locations when I went back to the Keep, I got an Alchemical Sliver Ingot (sp?) when going back and checking with the Miner(s) - and when I asked the armourer or weapon maker to make better armour/weapons for the soldiers, they said they would need ore first, so at least in my case it was worthless.

I'm in chapter one but I don't have access to the chapter one sites (such as Troll Cave near Bonegnasher lair, Bonegnasher lair, Eyegouger lair level 1, Eyegouger lair level 3)... How can I return there in chapter 2? I only noticed the "ore quest" in chapter 2...

Have you recieved the quest for thoughs locations yet?. If not, you won't see them until then. And I do believe you can go back to all these places for quite a while.

!!!!!!!possible spoilers that you have not finished yet!!!!!!

The Statues of Purification quest is not in part one. Unless you mean part 1 of a different chapter. I'm not sure how that is broken up though for each chapter. Which chapter are you in? I assume 2 or 3? I can't for the life of me remember if it was end chapt 2 or in chapt 3 lol However I want to say 3.

You lose a lot of areas during your "trial" You get some of them back after.

I have a saved game just as I entered the Ruins of Arvahn for the Statues of Purification quest
my travel list goes like this

Port Last
Ember
Duskwood
Docks District
Merchant Q
Ruins of Arvahn
Xroads Keep
Dwarven Scouts
High Cliff
Ft Locke

Thoughs areas you mentioned are not there yet. You still have them coming yet. "I think" please do not quote me. I am bad about keeping perfect order. However I checked my journal and there is nothing of these quest at this point yet or finished ones.

Hope this helps

Sorry man... big big mistake by me... a meant to say chapter 2, not chapter 1! :)

Yes.... I lost some of the locations after the trial... that's why I was asking how could we go to that places after chapter 2 initiated...

The simple answer is... you can't. They are designed to be inaccessable after that point.

Do you need any particular skill or equipment to mine?
Whenever I've come across an ore vein and click on it, I've ended up with a quick earned 50 xp and that's about it. Then when I've tried 'using' the vein, it tells me something like 'that item has no specific use' or similar useless phrase. I'll keep my eye out for a pick and head lamp then hehe :)

Isn't Redfallow watch the place Elanee was telling you about? If I remember correctly, she also says it was before your time and no longer exists.

I do not know how far your in game. However, just keep finding the ore. You never have to mine and you will know why later :) I don't want to spoil it for you. You will know when the time comes.

All the ores are of the same type.
I've found some ore location with some strange name, but i couldn't click on it.
Maybe a bug, should've been fixed by now since i haven't seen those again.
And sometimes, you have to give more than 1 ore location because the weapon/armor smith has enough ore, so you probably found the ore, but it wasn't enough.
I can tell for certain that the ore found in the Sydney area is normal ore.

You need to have found a certain number of ore deposits before you can do any of the upgrades. The number of ore deposits you found in chapter 1 and chapter 2 prior to getting the keep determine how many of the weapon and armor upgrades you can do for your Greycloaks before chapter three. The TYPE of ore is totally immaterial EXCEPT that you will receive ingots from Calindra the miner for each ore deposit you find. In my case I found all eight ore deposits available in chapter 1 and 2 and got a whopping 8 ingots from calindra - two each of mithral, cold iron, regular iron and alchemical silver. (There might have been a couple of darksteel ingots as well - don't remember.)

I think that the last armor upgrade and possibly one weapon upgrade can't be done until chapter three but not sure about that.

I had all weapon upgrades done before Chapter 3 and had one armor upgrade to go. If I am correct weapon upgrades take only one deposit each, and armor takes 2 for each upgrade.

Thanx. It is also mentioned by Bishop in a conversation that was, it would seem, not included in the game. I found it in a folder named VO, I think. Figures that one was meant to be his home village.

No. Only the ore veins that you find can be used to upgrade your Greycloak weapons and armor. The ingots that you find can either be sold for cash or used to craft items - they can't be used to upgrade the Greycloak equipment.
