When I take Qara with the group, and there is a battle. She relies a lot on the spell, Fire Burst. Which is fine, except it seems to last forever. All my enemies are dead, and the spell keeps on going for several seconds, 20 - 30 seconds, after the last kill. I sit there waiting, because you group won't follow until it stops. Wondering if anybody had this happen.

I tend not to let anyone use AoE spells, since it usually hurts the party more than the target :p. What I have noticed though is that other spells like haste, flame weapon and so on seem to last a LONG time, long enough that they only seem wear off when I rest, wandering around for what seems like hours still has them going. Also, the haste from the short sword of quickness (and maybe the scimitar of speed) affects everyone nearby, isn't it only meant to target the one holding the weapon? I've never needed to use more than one of the 5 uses per day since it lasts so long that i'll always have rested before it wears off (if it ever does).

My problem is, I can't rest. I get the battle music still playing, while this spell is still going. So the game won't let me rest. The game thinks we're still in combat.

Wow, wasn't this way for me. Haste and Greater Invisibility have been greatly shortened (ie, nerfed) in NWN2, although the former does affect everyone in the party. G. Invisibility is pretty disappointing in its duration, even Extended ones seem to hardly last anytime at all.

Qara almost never used Fireburst in my party. It was lots of buffages, then relying on one of the Issac spells (particularly Empowered ones) or Chain Lightning (yeah, bah-bee!). Also one of my favorites is Bigby's Interposing Hand, -10 AB to nasty bosses rocks.

Heh, it wasn't until halfway through the game that I realized the Issac's were hitting my own party as well. I just thought it was tough battles! :D (supposedly that's been fixed in the latest patch)

lol the higher your difficulty setting is, the more damage your characters will receive from area effect spells(IE: difficulty hardcore, fireball will deal full damage to friendlies and enemies within the area) that's part of the game. If you don't want them to take damage from AE spells like that, either move them out of the way or lower the difficulty setting

Yes, I generally expect AOE's to hit friendlies, unless it says differently - like Issac's, which is supposed to target only enemies, hardcore or not. It is one of the fixes mentioned in the 1.03 patch. Other spells, like Fireball or Cone of Cold - well, half the fun is in successfully targeting them :D

yeah, they changed alot in 3.5 because they needed to balance it.

for instance, the spell fly now has a minute/level duration, which is crap, because its a traveling spell, but everyone uses it so they can just sit up in the sky and cast fireballs down, because a lot of dm's arnt creative enough to find ways around it.

apparantly spells like haste and greater inadvisability unblance the game to much, because people have detracted from game mechanisms to game mechanics, if that makes sense... i should probably user different words there.
