Alright, so i dont know for sure, but is there anyway to take a character from one save (save a) and put him into another campiagn (save b) like the main character from save a and putting him into save b?

Let me know how its done if ya can. Thanks!

Yes, I did this when I wanted to re-class my main character from a previous save - however it is a rather long, and relatively complicated process.

I created a new saved game from my most recent save, one containing the main character - I transfered all his equiptment to a companion/helper/whatever you wish to call it and saved the game.

Then I opened an old save, with the character as I wanted it and saved this as a new saved game, used cheats to get it to the same level as my old one, and copied the compantion file (ROS-khelgar.ros in my case) from the saved game with the helper, to the new save game directory, then, moved all the equiptment over from the helper to the new character, and saved the game.

Then from my most current saved game, I opened "playerlist.ifo" using Gffeditor, I then copied the VarTable node - and made use to leave that window open, then went into the folder that my character I wanted to use had been created in, and then opened "playerlist.ifo" in that folder too. Deleted the VarTable node, then pasted the old one in.

Then, I copied playerlist.ifo, and player.bic to the new saved game directory, and the character was replaced and you did not loose any save game progress.

Note: for this to work, you must have access to the companion in the previous save to have access to your items.

As I said... fairly complicated but it worked for me :p - hope it's useful.

Fairly complicated indeed. I think that brain surgery would be alot easier. But then again I'm not very savy in the editing of files such as these. Kudos to you to taking the time to figure that one out.

It's amazing what you can do/figure out when you're trying to avoid working :p
Oh, and i'd never used Gffeditor til I downloaded it yesterday, I guess it just seemed pretty logical ;) - hmm, 2:30am... I guess I should go to bed now, considering I haven't slept in over 24 hours...

Was anyone else reminded of the scene in Wayne's World where Garth explained how to link Cassandra's music video to "Mr. Big's" limosine? Many props for figuring that one out though!

Good tip though, btcentral. Maybe you could edit the thread topic to reflect the question. It might interest some of the other members.

Has anyone tried replacing player.bic in the savegame folder?

Does anyone know a way to replace your main character with another...so for example you can take a character from your SoZ campaign and replace your character in the main NWN2 campaign with them?

Thanks,

Ferret

My way to change the main char during the campaign is to use the NWN2 Character Editor (http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=NWN2Tools.D etail&id=35) by ScripterRon.

It's pretty easy with that tool. Just be sure to strip of everything your char wears on his body and put it in the inventory. Then save the game with an unique name and use the editor. Open your old main char and select "import save character" and choose your new char. Her inventory should contain everything your old char had and the game variables should also be the same as before.

It's the easiest way to exchange the main character that I know.
