View Full Version : dwarf to monk - how?
hello.
i have the dwarf NPC and he wants to be a monk - how do i do all the related quests after i get them from the monastery? i don't see it in the walkthrough anywhere.
btw - is it worth it? is loosing the great axe he is using and the great armor worth it? this monk powers that great?!
you have to help the ironfist clan,
gain enough influence with Khelgar to convince him elanee or neeshka are ok,
and then do the trial...
i did the ironfist clan quest - the one where you get the gloves - is there another one? when?
how do i "gain influence" with him otherwise?

Once you did the ironfist glove quest talk to Tyr monk again and that will finish that 1 quest
you have to treat him nice and do things he wud do to gain influence with him

Not sure if there are other ways to do it but this is how it worked for me. The first one(Trial Of Justice) for me was right after the trial and I had to do the trial by combat with Lorne. While in the temple meditating for it, Khelgar(sp?) comes and offers to take your place if you have built up enough influence with him.
I also got one done(Trial of the Maimed) when I went to the area where the Ironfist dwarf scouts are at. The leader knows Khelgar and the dialogue options seem to make him have some change of heart concerning abandoning his clan to take off to be a monk. Anyway this meets the requirements of one of the other quests. At least once I cleared out the abandoned clanhold and got the gauntlets. Can't remember at what point exactly it happened but once I went back to Neverwinter I could talk to the priest of Tyr.
The quest where Khelgar has to stop being prejudiced towards his companions(Trial of the Even Handed). I have no idea what prompted the completion. It may be just traveling with them or it may be influence based or both.
Anyway when you finish all of them and talk to the Hlarr in the Temple of Tyr, he will offer to train Khelgar. If your influence with him is high enough he will accept and become a monk and you will then retrain all of his current lvls as a monk. If not he will say he needs to think about it.
In my first time through with my cleric I changed him to a monk and he was pretty tough still. In my current game with my fighter I don't have the influence with him yet to make the change but I know during the quest to complete the Ironfist set I will gain a lot of influence but may just leave him as a fighter to see which is better.
