View Full Version : Divine champion
I want to multiclass into Divine Champion, but I only have a base attack of 4. What can I do to increase this to 7?
Depending on your class the base attack will rise to 7 eventually. If you are a fighter, paladin or some other kind of melee you will get base attack of 7 when reaching char lvl 7. With other chars, as rogue or even mage it will take a bit longer.
Greetings
yeah, i did the same... multiclassed a ranger, lvl 13, and divine champion... it will get there, Once you get the base attack you need, make sure you have a weapon focus too... Divine wrath, lay on hands, and smite infidel are the shiznit

I'm on my second time through and am playing an Assimar Paladin (currently lvl 11) and was wondering if I should multiclass into a Divine Champion. Any suggestions?
Also, has anyone played through nwn2 with a Fallen Paladin or Blackguard and if so, would you recommend it?
Thanks,
DS
I think Divine Champion is an excellent choice. Bonus feats as a fighter and greatly increased saves.
You should also consider taking 4 fighter levels to get weapon specialization. Three paladin levels are basically enough - unless you want divine feats in which case you need four.
I played in blackguard in NWN1 and it worked fine, although you don't any special bonuses because you are a fallen paladin. But you don't lose any paladin abilities either. Divine grace stacks with dark blessing as do your turn undead abilites. You have the ability to smite good and evil creatures but your class levels don't stack regarding smite damage.
hmm - would it be good if you go 10 cleric - 10 div. champion?
Hmm, hard to say, but I think war priest is a better choice for a martial cleric. While the additional feats are useful, many of them require dexterity and/or intelligence, abilities which clerics are often rather low on. War priest gives you spell casting advancement in addition to a good BAB and W10 hit dice. A cleric 10/warpriest 10 is able to cast level 8 spells while a cleric 10/divine champion 10 is limited to level 5 spells - enough for rightous might and divine power but not for spell resistence or heal. Cleric/divine champion is still a decent choice however. Good, Earth and War are fine domains for warrior priests.
Fighter12/Divine Champion 8 is not bad either - the full number of fighter feats, greater weapon specialization and some useful bonuses from divine champion.
how much are 5 levels of Divine Champion good? Like 15 cleric (melee oriented)/5 div. champion.
you get lvl 8 cleric spells, (right?) & all class skills from Div. C.
you just don't get the full advantage of the +1 universal save for every 2 levels of this class...
Level 8 spells and 4 attacks per round, basically no bad idea, though I'd recommend taking an even number of divine champion levels, because you only get feats and save increases at even levels. So you'd better take 4 divine champion levels and a single level in an other class with a good BAB. Neverwinter Nine or Frenzied Berserker are good choices, and so is Dwarven Defender, if you have the right race and dexterity score.
You could also take just 2 Divine Champion levels and have 4 attacks and level 9 spells, although you miss out some feats. I'd still prefer a warpriest anyway, but all the builds discussed above seem to be quite playable.
I saw Waiden's post regarding the Ranger build and I'd really like to try it out. I am new to the NwN world (I had been playing Guild Wars up until now) and am very new to the game. Just wondering if anyone could give me suggestions (starting stats, recommended race) or tips for rolling this character, it sound like the exact sorta build I'm looking for.
TIA

Can u actually become a Fallen Paladin in NWN2?
I've been hearing conflicting things about this, and it seems like it would be possible, but very difficult to do.
isnt a fallen paladin a blackguard?
if so, then yes ... you can ..

focus on dex & the feat weapon finese would be optimal for a ranger Divine champion... (wielding a simple weapon tho)
If you start from a melee char I find Aasimar very good (+2 bonus on charisma & wisdom) since charisma is usefull for him - lay on hands, smite infidel & divine wrath :)
wisdom is good if you have some divine caster levels (armor doesn't cause failure of divine spells ;) )
hope this is correct xD
You can become a Fallen Paladin in the sense that you can no longer advance as paladin if your alignment is no longer LG. You do not however lose any existing paladin abilities for changing alignment, nor do you gain special abilites if you later advance as a blackguard.
yeah, the term "fallen" was a something given to Paladins and rangers in the Baulder's Gate games... it was given when you strayed from the required alignment... for paladin's it meant you were no longer LG... rangers on the other hand ment that you were not following a good or neutral path, not sure about that really...
**blah...double post
