I was wanting to try a run through the OC (and maybe motb) with a solo character. Is there an easy way to mod the campaign to get this to work? Maybe just through exploitation of some console commands?

In the same vein, is there an easy way to import epic levels into the OC? I don't think it would ever have come up in a real play through, but with all the experience going to a single character, I would probably hit epic levels before the end of the OC.

You would have to find a way to spawn in the forced NPCs at various plot locations: Zhjaeve or Ammon Jerro when encountering the Shadow Reavers,
Shandra at the pre-combat vigil, Zhjaeve when you reforge the silver sword etc. So while it's probably doable, it sounds pretty tedious to me. :)

The OC is capped at level 20 and my understanding is that it is hard-coded. So while you would accumulate the extra xp I don't believe you can actually progress past level 20.

Actually, I don't think it's even possible to avoid the forced companions, like they are already preselected and greyed out, so you can't kick them out, or you get the message that you must have companion X to travel to location Y. You could however put them in puppet mode and do all the work.

So, I've started the campaign. Since it's like my 5th time through, I don't feel so bad about using debug mode to configure everything to my liking. It turns out that I can pretty easily solo-ify the campaign.

rs kr_roster_edit lets you kick out most of your party members most of the time. Interestingly, you can kick out Khelgar and Neeshka as soon as you get them (but not Elanee). Leaving an important party member out of a script will break the script, so people keep reappearing briefly so that the campaign can advance.

For party members that I can't swap out, GiveXP -100000 and puppet mode ensures that no one is doing anything, and no one is leechign experience.

To keep myself from hitting the level cap, I'm playing a half-celestial (ECL+4), though I wish I could use the half-celestial models from the menagerie in MOTB instead of the aasimar models that come default.

The campaign definitely loses something without all the extra party members, but it's fun to play it in a different way.

PS: Does NWN2 handle the 1st level of ECL classes correctly. I had always figured that eg. an ECL+4 character would need 5000 XP to reach level 2, but here you need 15000 (ie 1k+2k+3k+4k+5k). I was pretty sure it didn't work like this in PnP, but I don't quite remember.

I'm not entirely sure if PnP handles it the same way, but I think it does. If I get some time I'll check out the d20 org notes and see what they say.

At any rate, it does handle all of the ECL races consistently. :D

After getting reasonably through act 1, I've discovered some wackiness with the OC and how experience is handled. I want to post here to see if anyone else has played around with it.

In the OC, it seems like:

-ECL races do not affect experience gained. A level 5 drow and a level 5 human will earn the same XP for beating a given fight.

-The number of party members has no effect on the XP for a given fight. If 5 level 10 characters each earn 350 exp for defeating an orc, then a single level 10 character will earn 350 exp for defeating the same orc.

On the other hand, this second point doesn't seem to be true in SoZ.

My tests were as such:

(in the OC)

Fight Moire and friends solo with my half-celestial (55k xp, level 6)
Moire gives 117 xp
Friends each give 22 xp

Fight Moire and friends with a party of 4, all at 55k xp (ie: 1 level 6 2 level 10, 1 level 9)
More gives 37 xp
Friends each give 8 xp

Fight Moire and friends with a party of 4, all level 6
More gives 117 xp
Friends each give 22 xp

(in SoZ)

Fighting 4 Air elementals in the Djinni ruins with 3 party members.

First elemental dies, 3 party members alive: 50 xp
Second elemental dies, 2 party members alive: 75 xp
Third elemental dies, 1 party member alive: 150 xp
Fourth elemental dies, 1 party member alive: 150 xp

(I don't remember the actual value of the XP granted, but it definitely increased as my party died off)

Has anyone ever looked into this? I got a little annoyed when I figured it out and decided to houserule my solo half-celestial's ECL down, to compensate for his lack of friends. It seems wierd that the xp system would change in between expansions (and i might just be on crack, which is why i'm posting this here). I'd really like to port over the SoZ xp system to the OC, but i'm pretty sure that'll never happen.
