Preferred classes and PrCs Poll at bioware forums

Here's the results of that poll:

Thanks everyone for participating. I will have another poll up pretty soon.

For base classes, 23% of respondents preferred Bard over the Wizard (21%), and the Rogue (14%). The rest of the responses were spread among the remaining classes.

For prestige classes, 14% of respondents preferred the Eldritch Knight over the Stormlord (11%), and the Arcane Scholar (10%). Again, the rest of the responses are spread over the remaining prestige classes.

I wonder what the purpose behind the poll is? Maybe figuring out what new classes or prc's to add in future content?

Or, since the poll was limited to one class and one PrC, as I understood it, they are trying to prepare us for 4E rules? :confused:

Fear not, this is what Rob McGinnis had to say about the poll:


The poll served many purposes, one of which was to sate pure curiosity.

It helps let us know what people like and what could be overpowered.

It helps us know what people don't like and what could be broken.

It helps us know what game play people like, and what they don't like.

It helps us steer patch fixes to the classes people like most.

It helps us steer patch fixes to the classes that need the most fixes.

That poll told us a lot. But, obviously, it leaves a lot of things open and in need of clarification. But it was important, for this first round, to not bog the data down with subjective feelings about the classes.

We will be having a dev chat soon to discuss the upcoming patches and to help refine the class fixes.

the bard has always been the least favoured class, of at least every aDnD player I have ever met. what did obsidian do to it to make it popular?

wizard is to be expected. especially since you don't get all the awesomeness of actually having to worry about spell books (i love storytellers that actually do this. so many rp opportunities).

Rogue and Wizard are easy to understand. :D

My guess about the Bard class is that it is used a LOT in character builds to qualify for the Red Dragon Disciple Prestige Class. I can't believe that there are THAT many people playing PURE bards, or even multi-class bards that do not take RDD.

But that's simply a guess.
