My game chrashes pls help

Plese help me and quickly. My game chrashes and throws me right out to windows (xp). I'm going to crossroad keep and no matter what i do the game chrashes :mad: , ok i tried to go there only with my main character and ofcourse shandra jerro (that worked on other occations , i had this problem since entering merchant quarter). I have also tried to free alot of harddrive space, but nothing seems to help this time :wtf: ok game lovers you now have a holy quest - to help me so that i may continue on my glorius journeys in neverwinter :) i really wanna play, preferably later this day

I've heard of people that have managed to avoid crashing while travelling to Crossroad Keeps by removing all party members.

Also, how much free space is on your hard drive? Is it defragged? :confused:

I agree with Elias - this sounds like a hard drive space issue to me.

How large is your hard drive and how much free space is available?
Those area files are very large, and a lack of HD space will cause the game to crash as it loads the new area.

The problem might also be caused by having summoned familiars in the party when you try to transition. That was a common problem in the earlier patch versions. You should make sure you are fully patched as well.

Custom contents such as haks, overrides, even no-cd cracks can cause problems in the game as well. DO you have any of those?

Thank you so much for helping me out it means alot to me i really love this game and i dont know enough to solve the problem myself. I just tried again and it wont work. I have left everyone at the flagon except Shandra Jerro, i'm a rougue so i dont have any familiars and i de-equiped my weapons.

I'm not sure about motherboard all i know is that it's a built in soundcard and i'm using that.
Game version is 1.13
Processor is a AMD Athlon dualcore 4600+
Graphics card is ATI x1950 series
Direct X must be the most recent version i think
and i'm using Windows XP
Harddrive space on C: is 179 GB not defragmented
that's all i know about my trusted friend:)
no hacks or any stuff like that not that i'm aware of anyway only the clean patched REAL game.

The problem first started when i entered or was about to enter merchant quarter, so i looked around on neverwinter nights 2 main forum (bioware site) and found some clues there how to solve the problem and i found a thread which helped me. The first thing i did was to leave all party members at the flagon, enter the the new territory, save when i got there and then go back for my mates and continue with them this time in the new area. At that point i didn't have more than 50 GB free harddrive space, but the problem didn't go away so i removed lots of unused files. But now i'm completly stuck grr. Anyway love you alot for helping me out.

Ok, next to check is:

Possible save file corruption: You would have to go back and find a save where this never had occured before and replay from there.

Last remedy:

Clean reinstall of the game: backup saves and localvault folder in the NWN2 folder in My Documents (XP) or Documents (Vista). Uninstall the game and wipe out any left over folders, both in installation directory and in My Documents\NWN2 folder. Reinstall the original game, don't patch yet, install MotB, then run the autopatcher to patch the game to the latest version. ;)

50 GB is more than enough. I play the game on a 80 GB drive with 40 gigs free so you're fine. I DO defragment regularly though.

You fellows are better than gold to me ok i may sound a bit silly but i really mean that i will try to follow your directions and if it doesn't work i shall have to start over from the beggining.

hehe hello there fellow adventurers.
It didn't work i followed all the advice you gave me and it still chrashed on me.
But i made a new rougue, human this time (last time i was half-elf) and i hope it will work this time around. And i'm more satisfied with this character.
To be on the safe side i shall save a new file for each new area so that if it still chrashes on me i can go back and try diffrent combinations and ofcourse consult you on this wonderful site. :)
