View Full Version : Really great problem at Koraboros Quest...
Hi people, please I need you help at this.... the problem is:
I was at Jarros Haven and at the moment when Koraboros ask you to free his Imp, when I find him, get the book (ancient book) and I have to read this to know the words to free him.. but, when I use the especial ability from this book nothing happens... and for now I can't make nothing, I cant free the imp and I need this to open the portal... Someone know how to fix this stupid bug? or someone can tell me if the stupid is me? hahaha please Helppppp! Thank's for now!
If you activate the books' special power on yourself, then you will be able to read the book and discover that it contains an assortment of magical phrases. A successful spellcraft check (20 pts) will tell you that the phrases will do the opposite of what their translations say they to do. A successful Lore check (20pts) will allow you to translate the phrases to learn more about them.
If you read the book, there are seven phrases in it. Even if you can't translate them, you can still select one to use. The third one, Tilo ut lon, if translated actually means imprison. So you need to use the third phrase to free the imp.
It sounds as though you are trying to use the books special power on the imp, and that won't free him. Only the third phrase will. :D

The special ability should allow you to see the phrases in the book. And then it's just a matter of picking the third one.
Since that is not happening, this sounds like either you aren't fully patched or you might have a problem with a conflict from custom content. Try removing all custom content from your override and hak folders, and see if you that solves the problem.
I don't have any custom package in the game.. just the default things.... it's so strange because I never saw this kind of error... is the first time, and I'm playing as always....
It's not the first time I have seen this problem reported but I haven't seen a reasonable explanation for the cause OR a solution that solves the problem.
If your custom content folders are empty, and you are fully patched, that doesn't leave a lot of options. I would suggest backing up to an earlier save, preferably before you enter the Haven and replaying. Try defragging your hard drive before you start. I know it sounds silly, but you would be surprised how often that solves problems.
The only other way I can think of to solve this problem is to try using the console to free the imp or at least set the proper global variable in the globals.xml file so that Koraborus THINKS you have freed him. It might also be possible to set the globals so that the power counter for the Portal is increased so that the "Free the Imp" Quest is successfully completed. The journal entry might persist however.
Unfortunately I don't have a saved game anywhere near that to be able to look at the global variables - I'll check a much later game and see what I can find.
Edit: I checked a saved game and I can't find ANY global variable that particularly relates to the Imp being freed or to the number of demons who have helped. There are a number of globals labeled like this:
__conv2640_blooden3
which are tied to specific options within the dialogs for the demons. Sorry I could not be of more help.
well well... so the problem is.. i have a other save, yes, i've started from this save again and for my "great luck" the problem keep happen... I've already get off all the equipaments that have "immunity: mind spell" but still nothing happens.. well.. I'll try to defrag this and so try again... :(
Obs: I have some crafted armor/weapons but without them stiil have the problem so I don't think this is de reason....
Items with mind altering protections shouldn't be the problem, neither would custom crafted weapons etc. I was thinking more of things like The Complete Craftsmen or other haks / overrides like that.
IIRC you should be simply getting options just to open the book, or rip a scroll out of the book to use that - are NONE of those coming up?
no, just use especial ability, examine and drop... nothing more... he use especial ability, show me the message "you have used item especial ability" but nothing more.....

What patch level are you on, Ravnus?
I recommend updating your game thru the official updater. Sounds like you are playing an un-patched version.
Have you registered your game? If so, update and let us know how it works for you.
well.. I'm full patched... can you believe? I don't know... I've already started a new campaign, and once more I get this problem.. I don't know what to do
On a related subject, aren't the scrolls supposed to survive and remain in your possession if you rip the pages out? Somehow they always vanish from my pack.
