I just can't take all the bugs in this game. Too bad. I can't handle items not dropping and places on the map not showing up.

Maybe next time they will work out the kinks.

So long NWN 2.. I wish I could get my money back.

I don't encounter many bugs ...

Have you installed the latest patch?

Sorry that you are having so much trouble. My experience has been completely different. Aside from a couple of bugged crafting recipes, and one ore vein that failed to register in a the initial release of the game, I have encountered only one serious bug which was solved with a simple reload.

All I can suggest is that you make sure:
- you are properly installed
- fully and properly patched
- you are using NO custom content
- you are using the correct drivers
- you have defragged your hard drive (sounds silly but it does make a dif)

I to only had a couple of bug. One that will never get fixed it seems "follow issues" Always having to tell my companions to follow me once finishing a battle or coming through a loading screen. And some cut scene hang ups. That is about it. Even from the very beginning.

I'd try a clean install.

Install nwn2
install MoTB (if you have it)
Then patch all your updates

Updated drivers (as kgambit said) Everything from Video card to mother board and sound. I even had updates for my gaming mouse and monitor. Which probably made no difference. I like to stay updated

The correct DirectX (9)

Windows updates Not sure if those matter, but always good to be up to date

And lastly and typically a given (System Requirements) Be sure your system is able to play the game. There are minimum and recommended requirements. We had a PC that only had minimum and it did not do very well with NWN2. The game does seem to memory hog quite a bit.

If your playing any community modules that use overrides. Be sure not to have multiple overrides in your folder. Create a folder to store ones you want to keep from previous community modules before switching to the next mod. For some reason, they seem to cause conflict. Not always. but often. I'd also not have any override files while trying to play the OC or MoTB.

If none of these solve the problem. Maybe Atari as some suggestions :rolleyes: Well maybe anyway.

I wish you the best of luck in your plight to play NWN2. I know it can be frustrating to pay for a game that seems un-playable.

Regards
Liso

Also make sure that there is NOTHING in your hak or override folder when you update, and have your AV protection turned off when you autoupdate.

Best of luck. :D

Sorry, you feel that way. As a last effort before ditching the game, I would recommend the following:

Save your saves and localvault and anything else custom made somewhere else or just rename the Neverwither Nights 2 folder in My Documents folder to something else.
Uninstall the game and wipe out all left over folder in both installation and My Documents folders.
Clean up your drive (removes all temp files, emptys recycle bin etc.)
Defrag your hard drive. Even if Windows tells you, it does need to, take note of the percentage of defragmentation and of the files most defragmented. My advice is defrag anyways.
Shut down all unnecessary processes and programs running in background. I use a task killer program for this.
Reinstall NWN2, don't patch yet, install MotB, if available, run the autopatcher to patch the game to the latest.Anti virus programms disable at your own risk. My anti virus programm is well behaved enough to not interfere with NWN2 or any other installation at all.

If the OC and MotB are too bug ridden to be played for you, there numerous user mods to play out there. Have you tried that? There are also numerous PWs out there. Have you tried that? :confused: ;) :cool:

Just in case you weren't aware of how to do a good clean-up on your windows, here's how. :D

'How to' do a standard windows cleanup

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

just for the record..

for Windows XP Home/Pro and Windows 2000 Pro

- delete the temp files ... do a standard windows cleanup.

(1) from run box, type
%userprofile%\local settings\temp
and press enter or click ok ... delete every file and folder that is possible to delete in the new window that opens [don't ask why, just do it];

(2) from run box, type
%userprofile%\local settings\temporary internet files
and press enter or click ok ... delete every file you can delete in the new window that opens [don't ask why, just do it];

(3) from run box, type
%userprofile%\local settings\temporary internet files\content.ie5
and press enter or click ok ... delete every FOLDER and ALL of the files in all those subfolders ... it wont let you delete index.dat so delete all the files you can if there are files in that window after you delete all of the folders and their files [don't ask why, just do it];

(4) from run box, type
%userprofile%\UserData
and press enter or click ok ... delete every subfolder and its files that is possible to delete in the new window that opens [don't ask why, just do it];

(5) from run box, type
c:\windows\temp
and press enter or click ok ... delete every file and folder that is possible to delete in the new window that opens [don't ask why, just do it];

* Your computer could have 100s of MB or 1+ or more GBs of temp files and following the above will kill all of them.

(6) Run Disk Defragmenter in Windows after the above steps.
* Start | All Programs | Accessories | System Tools > Disk Defragmenter

- reboot the computer

You now have a much better running system, should probably do this every few months if you game and surf the web as much as I do.

What's wrong with just running disk clean up from explorer folder, right click on drive, 2nd tab clean up. Select all. Go. Finished.
