View Full Version : Character Help?
Hi, guys! ^^;
So, um, I need help. Very badly. I haven't been on here in a very long time, not since school got out and I was dragged away from my beloved class computer. -sobs-
And I'm completely at loss. I want to replay NWN2, but I can't make a character that I like no matter how hard I try. D: I go through at least five a day, with little results and no satisfaction. So I need you guys' help!
I want to be a dark elf, I know that for sure. But I don't know what class to be, and drow level up so slowly.
Advice, please? ;-; I need character ideas. Not exactly technical stuff, just... concepts and personalities.
And should I be a guy or a girl? :confused:
There is a thread in the Character Optimizing forum about a Drow/Duelist/SD, there is the Drow Arcane Trickster, there is a Drow Rogue15/Fighter14/SD1, there is a Drow Wizard6/Fighter4/EK10/ASoC10 and there is Drow Rogue17/Fighter12/SD1 (multiclass xp penalty included)
Does that help any? :confused:

If you work you're way down those links, you will hopefully get a lot of inspiration. Otherwise, tell us a bit more what you like in a Drow or better yet just experiment, ever played a Drow Bard? :confused:
Drow are 2 levels behind from start, and if you multiclass in any way that gives you xp penalty too, be prepered to be 3 or 4 levels behind later in the game.
To avoid xp penalty you must be a wizard, pure or multiclassed with max 1 base class and 2 prestige classes. If you wanna play another class as drow you can still multiclass prestige classes, but if you multiclass with another base class they must be max 1 level in difference or there will be penalty. You get 20% cumulative penalty too all xp recieved for each base class that gives penalty.
On the positive side you get bonus to DEX, INT and CHA. You get racial spell resistance and some racial spells. You get a penalty to CON. Keep the ability bonuses in mind, when using drow. DEX and INT are good for rangers, rogues, bards and wizards. CHA is for example good for sorcerer and bards, a drow paladin sound strange but would benefit from CHA too. Penalty to CON is bad for a tank.
Maybe yo can make a Drizzt Do Urden build like Ranger 11, Fighter 12, WM 7 :p
Well good luck
Shadowmar,
Please alter the following text string under the "location" text
"I was born under a coral reef in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. I'm really a mermaid."
It's FAR too long and causing the forum page to overrun horizontally.
Thanks, guys! :) -changes Location info- Sorry about that. oO I didn't realize it was causing any problems.
I've actually made a Drizzt Do'Urden character before. xDD But just as a joke. He annoys me too badly. A Drow Bard would be fun, though. My first (and only) successful character was a Half-Elf Bard, and I took her all the way into MotB before my dad wiped the computer and totally killed everything.
Yesterday, I had a good Drow Druid going. She was great. Everyone was at least two levels ahead of me, but I was still tougher than Elanee just because I was smarter when it came to using my spells. I got all the way to Neverwinter. But when I tried to reload my game today, it said that it was corrupt, but I hadn't edited my character or done anything else that would corrupt my file. So I tried to reload the Autosave -- which was all the way back before I'd even met Shandra -- and all my companions had mysteriously disappeared off the face of Faerun so I couldn't get to the Highcliff Castle Ruins. :pissed: So I completely lost all of my game progress.
I guess the question now is: Should I take this character all the way back to the West Harbor Harvest Festival and start all over again?
I'll be lurking the forums looking at stuff, I guess. D:

You're welcome! :D :vine::D

Yep, same here, guilty as charged! :D I never played him, just made him in a trainer.

Druid and Bard are good choices too, because both classes need you to invest a lot of levels, 20 for Druid and about 26 for Bard. Druid10/Warpriest10 is a nice combination, too. I'm currently working on Rogue/Fighter/SD variations and so far i have come up with: Rogue15/Fighter14/SD1, Rogue17/Fighter12/SD1 and Rogue10/Fighter12/SD1/WM7.
Try playing a Deep Gnome where you are 3 levels behind everyone or think about poor Kaelyn, she's 4 levels behind everybody.
When file corruptions happen, it is usually high time to defrag your hard drive. Needless to say, that a corrupted save game file is useless and should be best deleted, unless you need to salvage some data first. Go back a save, if that is corrupted, too, keep going back until you find a good one.
Save often and in different slots. One good advice, give to me back in my newbie days, was save once on arrival in a new area and once at the end when you have cleared the map. Although the latter, can be scraped, since NWN2 and MotB don't throw monsters at you on arrival. Always save at the start of an Act, so you have always a save to go back to, if something happens.

Yes, if you don't have good saves to go back to, just start over. Make sure that you're game is patched to the latest game version, too. Latest game version no: 1.13.1409.
Drows make excellent Wizard and wizard hybrids, like EKs, Arcane Tricksters. Have you tried one of those? :confused:
Well, the thing is, this is my dad's really nice computer that never glitches or runs slowly. D: I wasn't expecting anything bad to happen. When I'm on the downstairs computer, yeah, I have at least four saves for the same character because the game'll crash or the computer will freeze -- the downstairs computer is at least ten or so years old, but this one is relatively new, so I didn't think there would be any problems. Knowing me, it's probably just my luck.
Gah. -sob- Starting over again. I hate starting over again. I've played the beginning of NWN2 so many times. I can quote almost everything that any character in the game has said all the way to your arrival in Neverwinter.
I've only ever beaten the entire game once. xDD
But if I'm going to start over again, I should probably get going, shouldn't I?
This'll take a while...
