Help please with casting a spell

Hi again!
I am at Skymirror and i need to cast a spell onto a tree. Now, I know what to use but I don't know how to do it. Each time i try to use the spell I can only seem to either drink it or drop it. This is the case for all my characters.
What am I doing wrong??
Please help.
Oh, and did I say how much I appreciated everyone's help from last time...:o

when you get to the skymirror, you have to have Eleene with you... click on the trees, they will tell you what symbol is on the tree, correlation to what spells to cast. while controling eleene, open your spell book by pressing "B" and click and drag the appropriate spells to your hotbar at the bottom... rest if you need to, if you had to memorize the spell.. then click on the spell from your hotbar, this should change your cursor..then click on the tree the spell relates to to unlock it...

Ok, Skymirror - a place that was told to you by a druid in wolf form, asking you to go there to activate the skymirror and find out what's happened to the other druids... so, you have to have Eleene with you when completing this quest.

When you get there, there are 4 trees that you need to cast nature spells on to unlock them. the exact spell names escaped my mind at the moment, but it's fairly easy to figure out.
Once you know the spells you have to use, make sure that you have Eleene memorize the spells into her book... done simply by hitting "B" to open the spell book while Eleene is being controlled..
from there, you will see a list of spells inthe left window organized by spell level. the level of the spells you need, i believe are in rank 2 or 3... by left clicking on the spell you can memorize it, and it will appear in the blank slots on the right side of that window.. from here you can left-click drag the spells down to your hotkey bar, located at the bottom of the screen...
once you have all 4 of the spells needed, rest so that the spells are available to cast.. to cast the spells, while controlling Eleene, simple left click on the appropriate spell from the hotkey bar... this will change your cursor, and then just take your cursor and click on the tree to cast the spell.

hehe... the druid is located in an alley within the docks district, fairly close to the weapon's smith... probably have to have Eleene with you as you go there, too... let her heal the wolf and it'll start talking, starting the whole side-quest

i have gone ranger this time because if elanee gonna keep making passes at my character i might aswel make 1 that suits her :P

I think the first three spells are bulls strength, cat's grace, and barkskin, i forget the fouorth

And it was kindly given. I'm doing everything adviced to do - making Eleene memorise the spell, (I have bought the "potions" ie cats grace I presume this is right?) dragging the spell and potion to the hotkey bar etc but each time I click she drinks!! Help, help, help!!!

Me again...I've also tried right clicking the tree and putting the potion/spell from the hotkey bar (using the mouse) onto the tree...this didn't seem to work either (and yes...I do have the right spells for the right trees!!!)

Why potions???

Just make Elanee memorize:
Bulls Strength
Cats Grace
Owls Wisdom
Barkskin

press "F" to bring up the quickcast menu when u selected elanee, right click on tree and cast the desired spell....
Or you can make sure nothing is selected by right clicking the ground,
then left click the spell and left click it on tree
