Ok, I've just installed MotB on my games computer - which is NOT connected to the net, so I can't download the update.

I was finding the interface in MotB very difficult to manage, so I decided to go back to NWN2 and start a new char with one of the new races - Half-Drow, because I always liked Drow, but not being 2 levels behind everyone else. I was beginning to get used to the interface - which is MUCH trickier since I installed MoB - but, when I picked up the first shard in the ruins, the video didn't trigger, I had to walk back home, and Daeghun asked why I had come back without the shard, even though it was there in my inventory.
So... went back to a save from before we entered the ruins, tried again, same problem.
So... exited the game - tried again, still no joy.
So... exited, switched off computer, turned it on again, loaded, tried again, same problem.

Any idea what I can do, without the the update, to fix the problem?

Oh, and are there many bugs you can't get round in NWN2 as a result of installing MotB, and is MoB buggy? Makes me wonder if it is bugginess that makes the interface so bloody awful?

Any suggestions would be VERY WELCOME!

The shard issue is known bug and you HAVE to update to v1.12 to get rid of it.

Try NWVault - they should have the entire sequence of manual patches required to take you from v1.10 to v1.12. Your only option is to download them on a system that IS connected, copy them to a dvd, transfer them to your machine with MotB installed and then patch that way.

Here's the link:

http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=NWN2Article s.Detail&id=230#english

You'll need the following patches:

nwn2_pcx1_english_from110 1115_to1101116.zip

nwn2_pcx1_english_from110 1116_to1111152.zip

nwn2_pcx1_english_from111 1153_to1121295.zip

OR the appropriate language for your machine

One of the mods here has posted that you ALSO need to update some of the OC modules as well. scroll down the link page I provided for those as well. I have NOT done this myself as I am able to autoupdate so I can NOT verify that any of those files are required or not.

Those files are as follows:

NWN2_PCX1_MODFIX_FROM1048 70_TO105912.zip

NWN2_PCX1_MODFIX_FROM1038 40_TO105912.zip

NWN2_PCX1_MODFIX_FROM1007 88_TO105912.zip

According to the description, one or more of those files are required when you do NOT patch the original game before installing MotB. Since I don't know exactly what you have done with updates so far, I can't provide more detailed help.

Thank you for the advice. But it means I need to install a disc writer, and I doubt if this old machine I use for on-line has the capacity for it. Reasons why are a long story, to do with viruses and putting Win2000office on a machine meant for Win 95.
But I can try. If I manage to install the disc writer, can I download directly to disc?

I'm not sure if you can download direct to the burner or not - I usually download all the files I need to HD first and then burn a cd/dvd.

The three patches that you need are each around 48 MB, and the largest mod fix is 32 MB, so you will need a total ~180 MB free disc space for the zip files. That's not a lot but it sounds like you may be dealing with extremely limited HD space.

Is there anyone you know who might be able to help out?

Yes, VERY limited! I suspect it couldn't deal with that much...

Hm. I could have a word with my ex-son-in-law. Very helpful chap, but also very busy.

Thanks, kgambit. :)
