View Full Version : OC Companions updated
We've just finished updating the OC Companions section so it now includes the following information:
Alignment scores
At start HPs and AC
At Start Skill levels (modified for STATS but not equipment)
At Start Feats
The skill ranks are included for those of you trying to plan ahead and utilize the companions for crafting and enchanting. :D
Note: you may get slightly different results depending on your xp level at the time you encounter the companions, but they should not vary significantly.
Nice work, but (captain pedantic to the rescue:D ) shouldn't bishop be after casavir?
Yes, he should and now he does. :D
Back Where he belongs!(never did like Bishop:D )
Nor did I. I actually replayed the initial sequence in the inner sanctum one time JUST so he would NOT leave and I could have the satisfaction of killing him. :D :D
Qara was a spoiled brat, but Bishop was a total sociopath and ends up EXACTLY where he belongs in MotB. :D

To right! I just tell 'im where to get off at every avaiable juncture!
The pity about Qara is that just being a brat isn't really reason for her to get killed. There was content that was deleted where Sand witnesses Qara unleashing her full pyromanic power. He realizes that with her power and no constraint or discipline that she is a horrible threat to the realms. Pity that they cut that. It makes the end game decision a LOT easier imo.

Me want BIG boom! lol. I don't realy like Qara either, but she's uslualy good for a laugh! Sand's just to fussy for my tastes (Hmm... might be a bit to like me:D ).
True. Sand is a bit stuffy, but his closing arguments in the trial when he likens Torio's dress to something worn by a hooker is simply priceless. :D THAT alone makes him worth keeping. :D

Musta missed that one! I'm gonna try ALL the paths through the trial now. just to see if I took the wrong one to get that.

You get that dialog if you let Sand take over in the Trial, D.0.a.
Personally I think Chaotic Evil was a more fitting alignment for Qara.
She didn't cared if anybody got hurt as long as she could show off her own ego and power. And she didn't cared for anybody but herself.
It was a fitting end for me to cut her and the deranged eyelined ranger a new one. :D
And I agree, Bishop ended up where he belonged. The Abyss or the Nine Hells would have been to good for him.
How people can make romance mods with Bishop is a puzzle to me.

1, agreed.
2, ditto.
3, he'd probly LIKE those!
4, Baffling, mate.

Because Bishop is the antithesis of Casavir. Casavir is rigid, righteous and good ... and Bishop is what every good girl wants - A bad boy.
:D

Looks more to me that every good girl wants a guy who wears eyeliner....

THAT must br where I'm going wrong!:D

Haha! >_< Nah... it's not about the eyeliner... it's as someone above mentioned... Bishop is the complete opposite of that uptight, holy paladin. Seriously... he makes me sick '-__- ...and I'd like to think Bishop is not as 'evil' and mean as he shows... or at least he's capable of change... (lol yeah slim chances on that..oh well nevermind... )
So... my point is that he has a 100 times more original, interesting and entertaining character than Casavir. :p

Yeah, no chance that he will ever change and thinking that Bishop is NOT as evil as he appears is wishful thinking. The last dialogue with him in the Inner Sanctum is proof enough of that.
As for interesting? It isn't until that very same dialogue that you really find out what makes Bishop tick - but he's still nothing but self-centered and self-serving. The only thing that matters to Bishop is Bishop. I'll concede that Casavir is wooden and almost a caricature of a paladin, but Bishop isn't a lot better. The ONLY time Bishop appears in my party is when he is forced there - otherwise I left him to wallow in his own self-indulgence at the sunken flagon. :D

You got Bishop's character right on the spot, kgambit.
But if I was a woman, I would be more concerned about why all my makeup is disappearing when having a relationship with Bishop....

ONE look at the guy should answer that question with little doubt. :D

ROFLMAO!!!!
True.
But you are right, Bishop isn't interesting even as an evil character. He is a stereotype just as much as Casavir is.
Interesting evil characters are more complex, like Ammon Jerro, or Sarevok or Jon Irenicus in the BG series.
Black Garius is not very interesting either. Just another evil powermonger.
Lorne or Torio is much more interesting since it's their background and fear of Garius who drive them to evil acts IMHO.
And a Lex Luthor, Professor Moriarty, Emperor Palpatine evil mastermind is for me always entertaining.
Bishop just p:pissed:sses me of every time. It doesn't matter if my character is a L/G Male Dwarf Pal or a C/E Female Human Rgr I avoid him like the plague. I agree that Jerro/Torio/Lorne are far more interesting (a friend of mine suggested that it was possible to convince lorne to join you after the trial/fight but i've tried all the options with good ranks in all the skills, NADDA!) and would much rather have Jerro in the party. On a side note, why is there no L/E companion? All the other align. are there, some more than once, but no L/E. Pity...
Lawl wow. So much hate for poor Bishop haha. Though not that I am surprised... I sorta understand your point of view... but imho if we compare the two character's personality we can safely say that Bishop is much more entertaining than Cas.
Hmmm if we look at their abilities in combat well... yeah... Casavir is more effective (or so he was at my party) but I'd still rather have Bishop with me than him... (yep duh! I'm like that lol.)
Imo the other quite musing character was Sand and Neeshka. A pity I rarely picked them up in my party since I was with a sorccerer/rogue char and there was really no need for the two of them...
And on the whole the best character was by all means... hmm... there wasn't really 'best' character I think.O_o Most of them were messed up and were obviously designed in a rush... or at least that's how I felt it...
Perhaps maybe Khelgar... he was a great help for me in combat and he had a good temper too haha. I liked that grumpy old dwarf. ^^
1, Between the two? yeah, I suppose your right.
2, Same here.
3, I'm mostly warlock (unless I'm trying something specific) so I rarely have sand either. But Neeshka is a must for me (loadsa fun to).
4, very true! Needed more time spent on them. most of their side quests just tail off into obscurity! E.G: I fully expected to run into Johcris(sp?) or Qara's Dad at some point. Nothing.
*sighs* Yeah I know... they've screwed up the game with that quite a bit. Why bother to make side quests with the companions when there's no conclusion at the end of it all?! It's like a waste of effort and time... uhm...well except for the exp we get for them... that's sweet ^^ ....but I think most of us decided to get into those quests out of pure curiosity... which is why it is so damn annoying. -___-
I've heard MotB is different. Unfortunatelly I didn't have the chance of playing with it...(yet...but I'm working on it lol =)
I really hope so it's as great as I've heard. :)

I don't think you'll be disapointed. I've played it countless times and got a slightly different ending every time!
You're right about the side quests. I only do them for the xp/items these days, and often don't even remember them unless I'm nearby anyway. They, mostly, smack a bit of an after thought.:(
Haha is that so? Ah well then... I'd better get my hands on it ASAP! Hopefully in next month only though... :((
Yep, they are just freakin annoying... I'm glad to hear the expansion is not like that. ^^
Myself, I like side quest that fill me in a little more about the folks I'm adventuring with. I want to know everything about them...are there people they double crossed? Is there a bounty on their heads?
I just think it really helps to flesh them out, they can become more than just a cleric for healing, a rouge for traps, or a mage for FIRE FIRE FIRE. heh heh
Absolutly. The "henchmen" side quests in NWN, while not terribly immersing, where at least specifficaly about that character. You got some background on them and felt like you knew somthing about them. The ones in NWN2 could be about any one (in forgoten realms,of course!) but happen to be about the ones you met. No immersion, no involvement and, personaly, no real enjoyment.:(
