Lurchman here. Just figured I'd make this thread for anyone who has a comment, suggestion, hot tip, question, etc. :)
Edit by BTCentral: Please PM me (btcentral) not lurchman if you find any typos or grammatical errors in the walkthrough, and I will try to resolve them ASAP. Cheers.
good idea.
a huge thanks goes out to lurchman here who is the author behind our very own walkthrough! :)
cheers
Damn, that walkthrough rocks...let's see u in act 2. Keep up the good playing-pen-paper work...
Thanks! Part 1 of Chapterer 2 should be out any time now. As soon as the boss gets it in the file.
I didn't let Tavorick die and I went past that place long ago. I don't think anything more can be influenced by Tavorick's well being.

Hi. In your walkthrough, you post this in Act 2, chapter 1:
Also, there is a drunk named Elgun, who claims to have at the village when it was attacked.
From what I gathered, I think he is lying. If you find out anything different, let me know.
Yep, he is indeed lying. There are a couple of other people in that bar who will give you information that conflicts with what Elgun says. I believe you have to start the process by talking to the barkeep (right when you walk in the door), then talk to Elgun, then to the other people in the bar. Once all those conversation threads are complete, talk to Elgun again and he'll eventually retract all his statements.
Cheers!
CM
Ya, I determined later on that he was lying. In the trial you could tell. Thanks for the comment though. When the walkthrough is finished, I intend to redo it and make some changesadd, ad few things. I will always be updating it.

This is not true:
**I am going to interject something important here. I went through these next few events 3 times before I figured out what was wrong. Tavorick must die. If he survives, the game flow will be disrupted. And you will not be prompted as to the next part of the quest. **
After saving him you just have to talk to him and he will tell you that he lied and you gain more xp by saving him:

In Port Lake there are two guys that we can talk to but i still can´t make anything with them (thougth that i had to have Grosnar in the party but he didn´t understood it either.
Making a good tutorial to this kind of game is complicated since there are several ways to play it and diferent consequences for your actions. Its also nice to know how many points either way wins (or items) (like in duskwood you can kill Nyssa but you wont earn 1000 xp, if you have Elanee in your party the beasts wont attack you, etc.).Each dialog can be dealt differently according to your skills (ex: i have lots of diplomacy so i win several dialogs that way)
You haven´t mencioned the competition with the bard (i made it before the trial...and made the Collectors Mansion before it)
Quests i have until the trial:

A far as Tavorick, no matter how many times I tried to talk to him, I got no response. I tried several times.
The Bard competion is a side quest, since there is no specific order in which to do them, I do the as I see fit. Besides, I'm playing as a fighter, and can't seem to use it. And even having a bard in my group didn't allow me to do the quest.
Understand this. In order to make a completely thourogh walkthrough, you either need to obtain all the info from Atari, or you have to play the game with several different characters and several different ways. Which is what I am doing. Not all things will work with my current character.
Also, here's an interesting tidbit for a side quest, that i thought was kinda fun.... in Duskwood, you come across the 2 guys outside a cave, that collect bugs, you go inside kill wolves and find a body, when you get to the body, the 2 NPCs from outside come in and are now werewolves, kill them and loot the insect collection. when you come back to the caves later to look for ore to provide your keep's blacksmiths with, there's a giant spider that wasn't there before, that i remember, anyway.. the spider isn't hostile and actually seems scared.. **keep in mind, i'm playing a good aligned ranger and have elene with me also** when you talk to the spider, is tells you that it's hungery, give him the insect collection. It will also tell you it's name and that it likes you..You can ask it to join you and it will accept.. It will then walk off, later to be found in your keep basement, and you can continue a conversation with it...
Hey Lurchman.U made a mistake in the collectors quest.As i ve posted before , u dont have to kill him to get his key.U just have to threaten him with the painting in his left...but u re excused,as u sais u r in 4 places at the same time...
I believe Lord Tavorick not talking to you is one of those bugs that occur if you're not in control of your main character at the end of a battle. If he survives and you're controlling a companion, you'll get stuck and have to reload (that's confirmed by personal experience). This annoying bug crops up all over the place, such as after you save Shandra from the Githyanki and before you meet up with Casavir.
Q : in the walkthrough you mentioned "Shandra decides she can trust you and returns with you to the Sunken Flagon."
& then : "After several cinemas and much dialogue, Shandra insists of being part of the party. She will always stay with you, but does not count as one of the party. It will increase your number to five. "
I have rescued Shandra & returned to the Flagon but right after I speak with her I see a cutscene where she is abducted - so my party size stays four & not five. did I misanderstand something?
Olivne,
that's true, when she returns to the Sunken Flagon with you, some dialogue and cinemas will occur, then she says she's going to bed.. when the game gets back to play mode, you're in your back room alone and have to fight your way and kill all of the Gith that's raided the Flagon. once they are all dead, there will be another dialogue sequence, and Bishop joins up with your party, it isn't until you track down the gith and rescue Shandra from the gith, that she becomes a perm part of your party, allowing the 5 members...
side note:
part 2 of chapter 2 is online for your reading pleasure ;)
cheers ...
As kind of a blanket statement to everybody. I'm playing the game right now as a straight up fighter. So the game will play differently for me. There will some things I can't get to work for me. The more I play, the more I become aware of this. I am laso becoming aware that if things are not done in a cetain way, they won't work. I can only write the waklkthrough in this way, right now. Jost know that once I am through, I am going through again as another character. And I will continue to do so, until I have found and done everything possible. I will tell you this, I saw a copy of the "Official Game Guide", shopping at the store the other day. And for all it's fualts, my walkthrough has a lot more in it , than that guide did. So lookat the bright side, you are saving yourselves money. But I do realy want to thank you for your comments. They make me aware of what I have missed, and will make sure they all get in my next rewrite.

Thanks for doing the walkthrough - it's really helping me out (I'm a new timer at PC games - ashamedly for a 31 yr old!!)
But you don't say HOW to cast the spells in Skymirror.............!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!:o
when you get to the skymirror, you have to have Eleene with you... click on the trees, they will tell you what symbol is on the tree, correlation to what spells to cast. while controling eleene, open your spell book by pressing "B" and click and drag the appropriate spells to your hotbar at the bottom... rest if you need to, if you had to memorize the spell.. then click on the spell from your hotbar, then click on the tree the spell relates to to unlock it...
Just a question with regards to the walkthrough. Are you going to concentrate on doing the main quests before doing all the side quests.
I am struggling with the side quest you get from Axle. (Behind a gate in the house across from Deekin in the merchant quarter). He asks you to get some gear or something from a black market weapons smuggler in the Blacklake district (Lord Gannish I think). But I cant find the weapon smuggler. It might be related to another quest where you pose as a weapons smuggler but since I have done that, have I botched Axle's quest or am I missing something totally?
Another unrelated question. I am weapon-master with the Katana as my weapon specialization. I got Weapon focus, specialization, as well as greater focus/specialization(With Katana, have triple checked this), but when I try use the Weapon-master abilities like Ki damage it says I need to use the weapon I am focusing in. I do have a magic Katana (Base weapon is a Katana). Do I have to use a non-magic Katana like a Katana +3 for e.g or is there something else I am missing.
Thanks
Just a nerdy quickie... Elenee is found when attacked by a group of bladelings and duergar, not lizardmen, as the walkthrough states.
Thanks for a very thorough walkthrough.

Wildcat asked, Just a question with regards to the walkthrough. Are you going to concentrate on doing the main quests before doing all the side quests.
With my current character, some of the side quests are not going to work for me. So I am concentrating on the main quest and doing the side quests that I can do. When I finish with main quest, I am going back through the game as a different character to pick up what I couldn't get the first time. As a note, the official game guide has no side quest coverage at all.
Thanks
Great work (including quick precise replys to questions), what more can one ask for?
Thanks
Just to let you know, I did leave both soliders upstairs at Tavorick's mansion and he still died.
Good walkthrough.

Great walkthrough. The only thing I would add would be some more details about what influence shifts you can get with certain party members at certain points. Other than that, VERY complete. :D

Thank you for the positive feedback. Although I feel that there is a great amount of detail that I didn't get in this version, that I want to get in the rewrite. Even more that what you suggest. I just wanted to get a good outline for the main quest, and some details in this version.So I've been going through it, just to get it out. But I'm looking forward to doing the rewrite, as I have many things I want to add.
great walkthrough - but what about the solution for making the dwarf into a monk?
I didn't find the Dwarf quests in the tutorial. He wants to join an order of fighting monks and for that he has to pass 3 quests. I done the first (retrieving a glove) but stuck on the other 2... perhaps its too soon.. (I'm in the beginning the chapter 2)?
hi...i real ur walkthrough and its great
im now at chapter 2....
DUSKWOOD QUEST
ur walkthrough....its Lyssa not Nyssa...
Now go back to the cave where you exited. There you can see the trail goes down and to the right. Following that it leads to an open field. On the far side you meet Nyssa. She tells you who gave some Powder of Alteration to Lorne, the Luskin. That is the last piece of evidence you need. Only she doesn't want to give it to you. She wants you to steal the Glowstone from the Goblins. So, you have a choice. Fight the Goblins, or Nyssa. Nyssa has a Dire Boar, and a Dire Bear to help her. Either way, it will be a tough fight. Once you have the powdeer, then you can go back to the Blacklake District. Go to Castle Never, and speak to Sir Nevalle. This will begin your trial.
to easily defeat Nyssa just bring Elenee with ur party (remember she can control animal!!) so Nyssa must fight alone ....with ur party....and her animal didnt do anything
I'm concentrating on the main quest right now. There are too many things in the game to get the first time through. I just figured to get the main part out the first time through, and do all the small quests and details, the second time through, because it will take me quite a bit longer. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Thanks for the note. I got quite a few posts on that, and I will make sure it gets in to the rewrite. Along with a thousand other things. With the rewrite, I'll be going in to a lot more detail. I have part 3 of the last Act to finish and I'll get started on the rewrite.

It will be done, but you need to gain influence on the dwarf, and after that you will visit the temple again, and then you can choose if he will become a monk or not.
If you get your main character to speak with the dwarf again about some of his companions (scroll down the list) you can get him to admit to making judgements about people. You can then go back to the temple and get the 2nd of the 3 quests. Im still working on the 3rd.
Thankyou lurchman for your walkthrough, i got stuck in the collectors mansion with the fireplace. :)
The third part of the quest happens automatically after the trial and before you fight Bevil`s brother, Lorne .
You'll know it when you get there.
I wanted to provide some clarification about Riverguard Keep in The Ruins of Arvahn.
To open the door to the statue, you need to have three things in your possession: The masters sword, the masters shield and the masters scepter.
The sarcophagus you see when you first enter the keep tells you what the items are.
The leader of the Bugbears on the first floor has the sword. I talked to him and agreed to kill the Ogre leader on the bottom floor (Ogre mage not trolls)
When you exit the keep, you will encounter him with multiple bugbear companions and if you have then head, he will leave you in peace.
If you reenter the keep, he will be in the first room and I was able to get the sword by using diplomacy.
I replayed that part and fought him out side the keep and the sword was on his body.
I got the shield somewhere on the second floor, IIRC. I don't recall if it was from a body or a chest.
The ogre mage on the bottom floor has the scepter.
If you have all three, the door opens.
You can pick up one influence point with Shandra at the locked door.
Right after you fight the ogre mage if you try to open the door without all the masters items, the prisoner you freed on the second floor (Ribcrusher?) will appear.
If you ask him to open the door and then tell him to stop before he kills himself, you get the influence point
During this side quest, as you refer to it as "Some Naughty Children", you can also convince Savanna to turn against Raven and the others through diplomacy. If she survives the battle and you talk to her and send her home you are granted extra experience. Anyway, keep up the good work on the walkthrough! (PS: Raven and Kyli Bryce are both female... Just thought you should know :P)
I appreciate the information. I already have several pages of info for my rewrite. I will make sure this info get in there. A la copy/paste. Thanks again.
Near the beginning of Ch. II in the part about the goblin cave there's a bit about a smart spider, and the walkthrough says that they were unable to understand the spider with their party... I just got to that part, and apparantly my being a Drow allowed me to understand it, at least somewhat. Apparantly others of it's kind are picking on it and it's hungry...

It's true.
You can later give him the insect colection you find on the two werewolf-gnomes & he will offer to join you (he will spawn in your keep).
While you need to be a drow to understand what he says, you can complete the quest without understanding him if you have the druid.
you can understand the spider if you are a ranger or druid also. :)

I do that first and saves the running around ;)
or just kill everyone on the way down, and the ogre mage too... take the scepter and open the door... :p
I am stuck, I am angry , I am frustrated.
I get the message of : *failure, unable to use object while in combt .
Attempting to activate the purification statue no 4.
(at the begining of the purfication map location).
This is after I have activated the gem mine/ season temple/ and keep ones.
There is just nothing to fight or do anything that will allow access to the portal.
or pass this message
Please help, I am frustrated with the problem.
Note:
I have loaded the location from the (begining) twice and it will not activate even before I get to the other statues anyway. i DID IT just in case it was a order thing.
I looked and killed everything in sight on the map.
All walktghroughs suggest there is no order and www awake-at- night.com suggest there is. However it still did not work when you do.

I have a saved game of every map location before I leave and go to a new location.
I have tried it out but even as I load that save game, it comes up with the same msg even before I interact with anything on the map .

great walkthrough - but what about the solution for making the dwarf into a monk?
SPOILER-SPOILER-SPOILER
there are three quests related to the D2M (Dwarf to Monk) :
1. Get the dwarf to understand that fighting for a couse is more importent then just fighting - When you are at the temple,after the court trial & before you face Lorne, The Dwarf will come to ask to take your place becouse he is infuriated with the lack of justice - after the fight talk to the Dwarf & the priest to finish this part of the quest.
2. Trial of the Maimed - On the Worldmap SouthWest of Old well you should see a Dwarven Scout encampment - Go there to find Ironfist Scouts looking for their old home. Explore the map, kill the Bugbears (& rescue some dwarves) & you will find the Ironfist Guantlets - Return to the Scouts & after some conversation The Dwarf will understand this part as well - Talk to the priest to finish this part of the quest.
3. Get the dwarf to respect other races - This is based on your influence with the Dwarf - Hpwever if you let him fight Lorne (Trial) & complete the "Trial of the Maimed" (See abouve) you should have enough influence for him to state that he has respect for the Theifling & the Druid - Talk to the priest & you should finish this part.
After performing all three quests you will have a choice of making the dwarf become a monk, letting him choose his way (he will become a monk) or ask him to stay a fighter (you need a lot of inluence, but even should you fail he will just delay the decision).
I hope this - While not as through as Lurchman's work - will help

Yes, Elanie can understand what the spider wants too.
Also, its possible to talk your way past the encounter with the dryad in Duskwood. (In my case by bluffing, but diplomacy and I think maybe intimidate also were options). The line was something like: "Yeah and I need some more powder to get the stone from the goblins". (Not accurate, but you get the gist of it).
Also, its quite possible to play the good guy when doing the Shadow thieves version of getting into blacklake. Well, as good as a thief gets that is. (I.e You can run into the burning militia HQ and warn the ones inside that theres a fire (That you set :D), and letting Fihelis leave town rather than assassinating him.)
part 3 of chapter 2 now online
Just want to take a moment to thank everyone who has submitted their posts on corrections and clarifications. Keep 'em coming. The rewrite is under way, and you find it much more informative. In particular, I appreciate all the info on the side quests, and any little "special finds". To one and all, thanks again.
Does anyone know how to get in the locked ruins in the Swamp Ruins? I just started a new game again and noticed them... Bevil says Georg says only one person has been known to find a way in, but never came out.

They will not open up until later. (ritual of purification)
Hope that helps

Yeah, thanks...When does this occur though? Because in chapter 2 the ruins were no longer accessable to me.

If I am not mistaken and please do not quote me on this. After you find out that your in charge of rebuilding the Xroads Keep. I think this is torwards the end of chapt 2. Maybe someone else can quote for sure though. I am such a wandering player and I hardly do things in any specific order lol
Regards

You'll have access to them when you do the rituals of purification, at the end of chapter 2. A these take place at a location called The Ruins of Arvehn. I don't want to spoil it for you, so I won't go any further.
Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but i had a different experience from what is described in the Crossroads Keep section (link just above the walkthrough on the left side of the screen).
In the section on weapons-armour-ore it had this to say about the Red Dragon Lair.
When you return to the Keep after this encounter. Kana will tell you that the guards and peasents went out to recover the stash and brought it back, but was ambushed by bandits and they only got away with some chests of items. Anyway, congratulations you just added 170,000 gold to your keep coffers.
I had already had the Greycloaks patrolling the roads by this time and they had improved things somewhat.
Kana told me that due to those patrols, they got back to the Keep without encountering any bandits and I got over 200,000 gold.
Thus it would seem to be a good idea to hold off on that quest until you had managed to improve security on the raods.
hmm... thanx O P T, i'll make note of that and get it into the section.. :)
Not sure if this has been mentioned yet but I thought I could add something re: the side quests.
(In chapter 2)
Before I went to trial I had 2 side quests in my journal (among others)
Neeshka And Leldon
Neverwinters Greatest Thief
I happened to do Neverwinters Greatest Thief first out of the 2 and towards the end I got a cut scene with Leldon asking for his coin. This made me think that perhaps I had to do the other one first. When I completed the task I got a task completed in my journal, but Neeska and Leldon was still listed. (So it couldn't be done?)
I reloaded and did them in order and got both quests completed.
Perhaps this will help someone who is trying to complete all of the quests.
I also read earlier that some were unable to start the Bards Competition with a Fighter as a main character.
I was able to start and complete the task as a Pure Fighter, I did have Grobnar in my party but he wasn't much help! So it can be done as a fighter.
Thanks for the walkthrough lurchman, and everyone else helping out.
I did pretty much the same thing. The only thing though is, I have all this gold and only one upgrade left to do. Somebody needs to make a mod so you can do more upgrades. Build a whole town around the Keep, or turn it into a castle. Be kind of col if you could keep on building.
You'll have access to them when you do the rituals of purification, at the end of chapter 2. A these take place at a location called The Ruins of Arvehn. I don't want to spoil it for you, so I won't go any further.
Ah...that explains it, I decided to restart during the rituals of purification...because I missed a few sidequests in the first chapter. (Such as the Skymirror.)
Also As i'm playing a wizard/Rogue DROW i could understand the writings of the spider since (even not grown in Underdark) i, somehow, understand Drow languaje. I invoked the Spider Queen Name and all that and the spider became my friend (Lets see about that keep encounter (I don't even have a keep :)
On another note in the walktrough: TRIAL
I was able to WIN the trial i had all the side qests in Port and Enber done and i had to do some influence rolls on Shandra too and after that Torio will anyway claim the right to finish this on a fight (Everybody seems unhappy with this but Torio) So even if u Win the plot remains the same. I can't paste a photo of the quest because i'm running a Spanish version of the game.
In the walkthrough of chapter 2 part 2 you wrote:
"...you will come to Riverguard Keep.
Ruins of Arvahn There will be numerous Orcs and Goblins there. Once inside, there will be more Orcs and Goblins, and some traps. Clear the floor and head downstairs. More of the same, but a little more powerful. You will find one room with some Orcs who are unhappy with their current leader. If you kill him, they will leave you in peace. Suddenly things will change. You are no longer attacked! It seems this leader wants to meet with you. So move straight on through to the main chamber. You will find three Trolls, and one is particularaly large and armored. He asks what you want, and you tell him you seek a statue. He tells you that you must kill the leader of the other group, and he will let you see it. More choices.
I refused, and he attacked me.
Whatever you do, you come to a door which has a ward on it. It only opens to the Master of the Keep. Make sure you have a few good health potions. If, and when you do, start trying to open the door. Yes, you will take damage, but keep trying. After 4-6 tries, it will open. Now approach the statue for the next blessing."
That's not exactly true... The door opens without hurting you if you have the three relics: Sword, Shield and Scepter of the Master. For that you must kill the two keep Troll leaders (or Orc...don't remember the race but are the ones the talk to you) and one of the captains... I will find these relics among their things.
In the part you refused I accepted and killed the other leader... I met him again in the courtyard outside of the keep and gave him the head of the dead leader and he said I could walk around the keep has a guest... When I returned to the keep I asked him about the sword of the Master(the remaining relic that I didn't had) and I told me he had it... so I killed him and claimed it! Then when to that door and open it!
BTW what's wrong with that ribcrusher (or was it ribsmasher?)? He was mad... crashed a lot of chests and doors... Mad I say... MAD! :) :) :)

Chapter 2
Bard's Challenge
You don't have to be a bard for this to work, you just need at least 1 point in Perform (e.g from an amulet or a bard item via UMD). The Bard on stage challenges you to 3 tunes, you just have to replay the tunes, if you win you keep his lute, if you lose he'll insult you and laugh you off the stage. This is not an easy challenge since you have to play it by ear (at least with the little perform my rogue had). With a few points of Perform you are able to remember the tune and keep replaying it back to yourself but you still have to figure out the notes for yourself. Grobnar is useless for this, he's no help at all since you have to do all the work yourself. For the final challenge you can tell your party to try and help you out, however even if you lose (and are evil) you can always just set fire to the bard and steal his lute anyway, the funniest event in the whole game.
Chapter 3
You'll have trouble recruiting the dancer/bard for the tavern if you're evil. Allowing 'anyone' to join your army puts off the dancer, she'll tell you your keep isn't a safe place with very unsavory types. Of course with enough charisma skill points you can probably persuade her to still join you.
Elanee learns of the remaining druid circle, you can travel there to see the members of her circle corrupted by the shadow and holding an uncorrupted member prisoner in a tree. If you're evil and/or have poor influence with Elanee she will LEAVE you after the imprisoned druid is freed. Don't worry, you can demand she give all her equipment back (unlike Shandra who just dies, with all the items she has still on her body) you can even attack Elanee for her 'betrayal' if you want. It may be possible to avoid this with enough points in charisma skills.

Actually, when Shandra dies. Ammon jerro has Shandra's gear in his inventory.
At least its there with 1.0.3 patch. Not sure about other versions.
Ok, I'm stuck on 3 quests at the moment.
#1 The Blade golem quest. I found the book and rune needed for the gnome Grobnak. Where can I get the glowing liquid so he can finish it?
#2 Alliance with the lizardfolk. How do I defeat Batha. He is invinsible. I think I heard somewhere for u to let him read your mind but, I've tried every option and I've still had to fight and died 5-6 times. ack. If someone beat him. who was in your party?
#3 Mere of the merdalain (sp.) After defeating the Luskan witch (forgot name) I get a scroll of the true names of the shadow reavers. Back at the keep Kana tells me they found where a reaver might be and denoted it on the map. Also talked to Guylven who gave me a better tactic when facing the Shadow reaver. So, I go into battle and you will need Zendia (sp.) or Ammon Jerro or both in your party to recite the incantation. Problem is, everyone dies before the lenghty incantation is finished. Any help here as well? Died 4 times here so far.
Thought about the cheat commands but want to do this without it if possible. Any help on this would be appreciative. Thanks.

((( Where can I get the glowing liquid so he can finish it? ))Take the gnome down in the Ember well with you. Go back to the glowing rock thing (can't remember what it was called. There is a second small pond of water in the same area. Walk around it unitl he spots it.
Betha is one of your hardest foe to beat. I had Sand, The dwarf, Elenee (sp)? and the gnome. I have a druid and used defensive spells for protection (stone skin, scabbered of bless, drink all the potions that help you. LOTS of healing pots, spells and healer kits. I wish you luck, I had a hard time as well.
Killing the reavers is also a pain. Keep the Gith or Jerro back far enough out of harms way. You really need some serious fodder here. Use your melee henchman. The dwarf, The pally etc. Get defensive. Bear skin, stone skin etc. buff all your henchman up and your own PC. While they beat or cast on the reaver, switch to Jerro or the Gith start reading asap. Timing is everything. Get them started on the true names, then go back to your pc to manage healing.
I hope this helps. It is tough to get through some of these. I'm sure someone else will have some helpful ideas as well.

where do u find regents for making items? like essences and king`s tear?
i want to make bracers and natural armor amulets, but only have the metals
where do u find regents for making items? like essences and king`s tear?
i want to make bracers and natural armor amulets, but only have the metals
gems are found randomly from monsters and chests... essences are found off elementals and shadow reavers
My first problem,
I want to summon the devil mephasm but i can't find any faint power essence
the rest of the ingredients i have but only this one i haven't got.
My second problem,
I'm stuck at making the bridge when i need to go to the scar in West Harbor to forge the sword and i don't know how to make the bridge but i have gathered all of the logs...

not sure what exactly will produce this, but you can also distill objects using the alchemy bench and the mortor and pestle... by distilling objects you will sometimes produce essences, and there are a few that have been reported to make a power essence..
My second problem,
I'm stuck at making the bridge when i need to go to the scar in West Harbor to forge the sword and i don't know how to make the bridge but i have gathered all of the logs...
you have to have the survival skill and rather high to create the make-shift bridge... or you just just walk through the river and take some damage...
For the first problem:
Open Console (~ or ` depending on your keyboard)
Type: DebugMode 1 (then hit enter)
(Make sure it says something along the lines of DebugMode active in the chat box - otherwise it hasn't been turned on)
Type: giveitem cft_ess_power1 (then hit enter)
Type: DebugMode 0 (then hit enter)
You will now have 10x Faint Power essence in your inv.
For the second:
Just walk through the river, or use a character that has a survival skill of 20 to construct the bridge.

i'll try thanks for the help so far
I've just added Chapter Three part two to the site, be sure to check it out here (http://www.thieves-guild.net/index.php?pid=205) - enjoy!
THANKS!! i was looking for that ty vm
OK, few comments on Chapter 3.
The Neverneath
There's another thread here about finding the door behind the tapestry that you might want to use as a basis to add to this.
When I played this I spent 20 odd minutes stumbling about because of my not "seeing" things right.
When you leave the guardroom and turn right, and meet the first set of bad guys, the passage you need to follow is down a set of stairs. There appeared to be a doorway at the bottom of the stairs, but it actually was just an arch that lead to another corridor.
Since I didn't get a door icon when I put my cursor there, I didn't go down the stairs. You don't see the corridor until you do go down the stairs.
When I got to Lord Never's tomb, having the ceremonial sword in my hand seemed to make a difference on having the dancing swords attack me if I got close, but I never was able to avoid a fight with them.
Mt. Galadrym and the Firegiants
I was not strong enough to push the boulder down (even with Bull's strength cast on me getting me to 21) and was a bit annoyed that I couldn't try using another NPC to do this. Kelghar was at 25 and I wanted to see if he was strong enough, but if I took control of him as soon as I clicked on the rocks, it reverted to my character. :mad:
I met with the Giant King before going to see the dragon and agreed to kill the dragon.
After many reloads of not winning the battle against the dragon, I lied to him about helping him with the giants.
I helped the giants against the dragon (after getting killed multiple times, I figured I needed the help) but the King turned on me after the battle anyway.
You didn't explicitly mention the Drow prisoner who if you ask properly will become another merchant at the keep, she'll set up shop in the same building as Deekin.
Also, it appears as if the amount of gold you recover from the dragon depends on the status of the roads as I mentioned before.
The Wendersnaven
When I found the poet's body I was told to tell this Guyven.
Highcliff and the Lizardlings
When I had resolved the situation with the Lizardmen, I went down the stairs to the docks and there were multiple chests filled with goodies to loot. Unfortunately I don't recall exactly what they were.
Nolaloth, the Wyrme King
I didn't even try to fight the two black dragons after my futile efforts with Tholopsyx, I simply destroyed the heart and both dragons dropped dead. They did drop some loot (one or two items, IIRC) so I'm not sure if its more or less than what you get for killing them outright.
Reforging the Sword
Another case of not being able to use an NPC with the requisite skill to perform a specific task.
I couldn't build the bridge even though I found all four logs. I poked around the Bioware forums and IIRC, it is a sufficient survival skill you need to build this bridge.
I simply walked through the water and I don't recall getting any permanent damage.
You don't mention the sub-quest concerning the small boy (Bevil's brother I think).
You see him a few times and eventually you'll see him being approached by his mother, who is of course another wraith. I was able to work through the conversation tree and have the wraith reveal itself and allow me to kill it, then talk the boy into "passing on" or some other such phrase to find final peace.
Ammon Jerro
Couple of additional things here.
During the cinematic conversation with Ammon, we discussed Shandra.
The key conversation point seemed to involve me providing information about how well I knew here (it was labeled Shandra influence IIRC. This worked for me since I had a good influence with her I suspect).
This made a big impact on him and a glitter appeared in the background. He picked up Shandra's amulet which was a +4 AC, +10 HP and some other nice bonuses, IIRC. I also suspect this conversation made a big difference concerning his reactions prior to the final battle.
Also, search around the scarecrow there are two crates buried there along with a chest or two next to the house.
Hey
I would just like to Add to chapter 2 Part 1. In duskwood if you have Elanee with you when approaching Nyssa to fight her, she will call off all the Animals and tell Nyssa she is on her own. I cant remember if you have to have a good influence withe Elanee or not. But it worked for me, so I didn't have the fight the Animals at all just Nyssa.
Regards
Repline;)
Two things about the Chapter 3 part 2:
1)You will meet up with Daeghun, who will update you as to what is happening and the forces will be up against. You will have the two companions you chose, and three archers or fighters. Just down the road, the battle is already raging. After speaking with Daeghun, go and help the troops that are fighting. Further down the road, there is a Shadow priest and some un-dead. There are only a few, so it shouldn't be too bad. There will be more small parties of various enemies as you move down the road. Upon reaching the third and last bridge, prepare for the toughest battle yet. There will be a few cinematic sequenced leading up to the battle. A Shadow Reaver will appear, but he will not fight you. But there is a shadow priest and many skeleton archers and fighters, and ghasts. Before he leaves, the Reaver will turn them all into giants with a spell. As the battle begins, Daeghun appears with a few archers to aid you. As I said, this is a tough fight, so make sure you are prepared. Once all the enemies are destroyed, a few cinemas will carry you through destroying the bridges, and returning to the Keep.
Before crossing the first bridge, to the left, you will find a hidden camp of vampires in theirs coffins (protected by shadow priests and skeletons). It's about 10 coffins and for every coffin you open, the vampire inside dies and you get 200 Xp.
2) You'll speak with Kana briefly, and she will tell you to retire and get some rest before tomorrow. But a soldier awakens you in the middle of the night, and tells you that the enemy is gathering outside the Keep, and are preparing for battle.
Here is when Elanee revealed to me that she liked me and we sleep together.
Just a random comment. If you backstab Lyssa and you have Elanee with you on your party, Elanee makes some comment like "Even the animals, though twisted as they might be, will not aid you any further against me" so all you have to face is Lyssa, while keeping the Glowstone as well. Very nice!
big problem, the king of shadow wont die. when he transform to minions, i die. everytime he kill me. they just keep coming and coming. how can i kill him??
Hey,
I just thought I'd mention that in the Riverguard Keep, you don't have to force your way through the door to the statue. You can pick up the Blade, Scepter, and Shield of the Master in the various levels of the keep. I don't remember exactly where, except the Bugbear leader has the blade. With these in your inventory, the door just opens for you. gk
Hi!
About the big non-hostile spider in chapter two, you can understand it if your character is drow.
Forgive my bad english!
I'm back to work on the walkthrough. Had a little run of bad health there fro a couple weeks. Flu or some damn thing. I should have the last part done in a day or two. I've been doing a copy/paste of all your posts into my program at home. Soon I'm going to sort them out in order of which they occur. I have started three games, with three different characters, alignments, stregnths and weaknesses, etc. You'll find the rewrite far more infomative. The first one I wanted to get out quick, and I did. It was the first one on the net. Now I want to make the best one on the net. And with all your help I'll do it. Thank you very much.
Lurchman
Edit: Just saw a similar post -_-
about the talking spider in Goblin Cave;
Afaik the only way to "understand" the spider is to be a drow.
You will then recognize it to be a child of Llolth.
After some talking i ended up getting a quest where i have to bring food the the intelligent spider. Im still looking for the food...
Thats all i have to fill in on this matter, il post where to get the food asap.
Or... you can just have Elanee and she'll tell you it wants food.
The food is in the cave near by, there will be two characters outside it who tell you not to go in... one of them has a bug collection... go in, and you will find the answer to another quest, and in the end have something to feed the spider ;)

Will you be including what you can steal from people in the walkthrough? For example: I stole the Gladiator's Sword from the Weaponsmith in the Neverwinter Docks...oddly though it sells for 0gp. :eek:
Jonsey asks, Will you be including what you can steal from people in the walkthrough? For example: I stole the Gladiator's Sword from the Weaponsmith in the Neverwinter Docks...oddly though it sells for 0gp.
I will include what is found in chests and other containers. Also what is found on major characters corpses. Shadow reavers, shadow priests and alike. Listing everything you find or steal would take far too long and take up too much space. Besides, I'm not sure how much is set, and how much is random. I'm pretty sure the container loot is set, but not positive. The same with major enimies. The rest I think are random. I kow that a few times I've played the same part over a couple times, and picked up different things off the bodies. Besides, much of it becomes repetitive. I mainly want to get as much little stuff out. Side quests, chance encounters, the odd meetings, and things like that. Those kind of things you might pass over, even if you play 10 times. I love playing a fighter, because I find every enemy I can find, just to fight them. Hate to leave one left standing. I think most people are like that, but for different reasons. Just want to find everything there is. But I gotta leave a couple of things for you to find out for yourself. ;)
Couple of walkthrough additions for you:
Chapter 2:
Sidequest: In the Blacklake district there is a Temple of Lathander. The head priest there wants you to deliver a tithe box to Brother Merring in West Harbour. It's a straightforward FedEx delivery quest as near as I can tell. The quest must be finished before the Temple of Arvahn sequence however - before West Harbour is destroyed. I completed this after I had defeated Lorne in the Arena. Combining it with the Rhetta Starling's quest to find out about her son makes it a convenient trip. :) Or you can wait until after you get the keep and combine it with a recruiting expedition for Orlen. When I get the name of the quest from my journal I will edit this.
Random Encounter: After the trial and the fight with Lorne, I decided to return to Port Llast on a shopping trip. En route, the party was waylaid by a group of 4 bounty hunters sent from the Brotherhood of the Arcane Hosstower in Luskan. It's an easy encounter, relatively speaking, and the would be assasins drop some decent loot. Not sure if the encounter is triggered by Sand's presence or not. Occured before the Tavorick Mansion sequence - at least for me.
Tavorick's Mansion: This plot quest may have been fixed with the 1.03 patch. I was able to complete the quest AND save Lord Tavorick at the same time. I kept two guards with him upstairs, barricaded the front doors and kept the rest of the men on guard inside the main hall. After defeating several waves of Fire Mephits, you hear a scream upstairs and fight off another group of Fire Mephits. Tavorick tells you that the crypt downstairs is warded and we should all head for the crypt where we will be safe. Return downstairs and you are met with MORE fire mephits but this time they have company - Erinyes and Succubi have joined the festivities. Defeat them and head to the crypt. Fight past through another group of demonspawn into the warded crypt. A cutscene ensues where Quaggoth Yeg batters down a door and the big fight ensues. Defeat Quaggoth Yeg and Tavorick tells you that Melia actually has the shard. I was able to complete the fight without losing any member of the party OR any of the guards. :)
"Now there is Brevil. He is quite shaken with all that has happened. He really doesn’t want to go with you. If you convince him to go, you get 100XP. I let the wimp stay there with the children. Didn’t want him with me if he’ll turn and run."
Are you sure about this? I was never able to convince him to come with me :(
bevil just kinda "showed up" at the Keep at some point, i don't remember even seeing him on my trip back to West Harbor, later on...lol

Bevil should just show up at the keep but enlisting him once he is there is a different issue. Bevil has *issues* (apparently some Lizardmen beat him up, made him wear a dress and started called him Nancy*) and it takes some convinving to enlist him. I believe it may require a certain level of diplomacy and/or influence. You only get ONE chance at influencing Bevil and that's during the tutorial it's eithr +5 or -5 depending on whether you bet on the outcome of the final combat match against the brothers. (Remember the rules said no betting and Bevil is lawful).
The last part of the walkthrough will go up today. Now I can devote my full attention to the rewrite. Got a ton of info from you folks to sort through and arrange. It will take a little longer to get this one out. So keep the tips coming. I really appreciate it.
Edit by BTCentral: The third and final part is now online!
Speaking of the keep, if you keep sending those adventurers out to do stuff will they finally die? :p Lol.
I sent them out twice, but then I got soft. Sent them packing. I'll find out for sure then next time through. It's hard for me to play a evil type. Sending them to their death was something I didn't want to do. One of my next characters is an evil thief, she'll do it. :p
I sent them out at every opportunity... to real places (not the ones you can lie about) and they didn't die.
Speaking of the keep, if you keep sending those adventurers out to do stuff will they finally die? :p Lol.
I never even realised that there was the opportunity not for him to be enlisted, he just turned up and I asked him to work for me... and soon enough he was trained.

I see you haven't included a "dark side" walktrough in act1.
I've played the OC twice now, one good and one evil, so i'm quite familiar with both sides.
Anyway, if you need info about the dark side in chapter1, i suggest you check out Gamespots walkthrough, as i think it's one of the best walktrough of chapter 1 so far.

Hm... does this count as advertising for another site? Because that was not my intention....
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Also:
On the road to the fort, you’ll encounter Galen, from your village. He’s on his way to the fort to do some trading. But he has encountered some bandits. Help him fight them off, and you get 100 Gold.
Actually, he is betrayed by his own mercenaries/body guards.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
10. The Collectors Mansion
...Talk to the collectors girlfriend in the bedroom, she will offer to play as a hostage to get the other key from the collector. If you take her offer you will be moved to the collectors room. Where he tells you to go ahead and kill her. He won't give up the key without a fight. You must kill him to get the other key.
Actually, you can find out that he values his panting really high. If you take the panting you can bargain with him to give you the key.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Grayson takes you to a Solace glade, where you must stand vigil. A test to become a squire. During your vigil, Shandra will show up, and you will talk with her. Then you are both attacked by Luskins thugs. You kill them, and loot the bodies.
Actually, they are not thugs, they are Luskan assassins. (sorry for nitpicking)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Also, there is a drunk named Elgun, who claims to have at the village when it was attacked.
From what I gatthered, I think he is lying. If you find out anything different, let me know.
Yes he's lying. Find him in the inn, and confront him.
After you've asked him about many facts he can't anwser about Ember, he finally admits that he lied
and confess you everyone in the inn about it. You stopped the rumor and gain some exp too.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Also, there is a huge Queen Spider. She does not attack you. On the contrary, she tries to communicate with you.
With my group, I couldn't tell what she was saying. Maybe, if you had a Druid with you. If anybody finds out what she says, let me know
If Elanee is with your group, you'll understand that the spider is hungry.
Remember the two wearwolfs you killed in Duskwood? They were collecting insects right?
After killing them, take the insect collection to the spider.
After the spider have eating the insects, he happily thanks you and walks away. It says: "you get the feeling it's not the last time you'll see Kastra (spiders name, something like that)"
The spider appears in the basement near the summoning circle after you get the crossroad keep.
There she starts to make a cloak for you. (which was disappointing imo, but better than the average cloak anyway)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Only she doesn't want to give it to you. She wants you to steal the Glowstone from the Goblins. So, you have a choice. Fight the Goblins, or Nyssa. Nyssa has a Dire Boar, and a Dire Bear to help her. Either way, it will be a tough fight.
Actually, you have the option to not fight at all. If you succed on bluffing to the druid that you are Lorne, she'll give you the powder without a fight.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Whatever you do, you come to a door which has a ward on it. It only opens to the Master of the Keep. Make sure you have a few good health potions. If, and when you do, start trying to open the door. Yes, you will take damage, but keep trying. After 4-6 tries, it will open. Now approach the statue for the next blessing.
When entering the castle, you can examine the sacrofag there and it tells you about the "master of the keep" and her sword, scepter and shield.
When you've gathered all these items the door will open to you without you having to bash it and take heavy damage.
The shield is found on the leader of those big troll-like monsters in the keep.
The scepter if found on the big ogre currently controlling the keep.
I think the sword is found on the orc leader in the orc camp.
If you can't find them, there is another alternative.
If you've freed the "ribsmasher" in the keep, beside from smashing everything in that level, you also aproches you when you try to open the door.
If you encourage him to open the door, we'll smash it for you. Keep encouraging him and you'll lose a little influence with Elanee.
Unfortunally, smashing the door and take the heavy damage kills him, but at least you've gotten the door open.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There you meet some Demons and more kids in robes. Eventually, you reach a room with a boy called Raven. The ringleader of this band, and he tells how they are going to join with the King of Shadows. They attack you. When the fight is over, take a key from Ravens body. It will unlock the next door.
Raven has a friend with her, and if you diplomatic skills are high enough, you can convince her to switch side by saying things like: "you're too pretty to die" or something like that.
If you succed in that, rush to heal and buff her, because the others will immediatly focus on her.
If you manage to kill everyone and save her, you'll get bonus exp for convincing her to come back from the dark side.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
At the theater near by, there is a minstrel, who is taking all who wish to challenge him.
Since my character is a fighter. I could not get the quest to work, even though I had a Bard in the group. I'll try to get more on this later.
If doesn't matter what class you have.
If you challange him, he'll lend you an instrument, thus enabling any character to participate in this challange.
It's worth mentioning though, that you won't have much use of the reward unless you're a bard.
You could always give it to Grobnar though.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Make your way through the small gysers quickly. At the end click on the large gyser, and you will recieve a container and fill it with acid. This will cost your health dearly. Once the container is full, return to your companions.
Not exactly. You have a choice to either use your dexterity or tumple to try to avoid the acid geyser. Only when failing do you get damaged.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Head back toward the last brazier, and look to your left. You should find a trail leading up the hill there. At the top of the hill is a Shamen. You can kill him or spare him. If you kill him, you'll get some neat loot. If your spare him, he will set loose his minions on you, Undead Soldiers, about 8 to 10 of them.
Aren't they barbarians? Hm... undead barbarians maybe... -.-
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Before you go to Koraborus, keep to the left as you go down the hall. You will find a library and an Imp who his transfixed on a book. Leave him for now, and go to Koraborus. Straight down the hall, you will come to him. Speak with him. He will tell you that he will help you if you find his missing imp. Obviously, you know where it is, so head back to the imp.
That is not necessary. You can free the imp before talking to Koraborus. Doing so, you will gain an option of chosing "I've already meet him. I set him free" or something.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
9. Blooden
When you reach Blooden, her minions will attack. Speak to her afterwards. She will tell you that for her aid, you must convince Koraborus to send his Hell Hounds to attack her. Okay lady, whatever. Head back up to see Koraborus.
Not really. You need to entertain her. For example, you can use perform.
Or diplomacy to tell her that she's the most beautiful woman you've ever seen.
Be careful though. If Elanee is in your party, she'll get madly jealus and you'll lose alot of influence (not so strange, since she's intrested in you (if you're male)).
On the other hand, if you tell Blooden at the conversation start that her succubus tricks won't work on you, you'll gain an equal big amount of influence with Elanee.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Your guide is good, but it's far from perfect.
I'll continue to comment on the walkthrough when i notice something off.
A lot of what you have just stated has already been said in this thread before if you read it... I myself mentioned Raven's friend Savanna.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After you have dispatched the Druids, the imprisoned Druid is the leader of Elenee's old circle of the Mere. He explains what happened and then leaves. Return to the Keep for now.
It might be worth mentioning that if your influence with Elanee isn't high enough, she'll leave your party for good and join her leader.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When it's over, Jalboun will approach you about his money. You can, kill him, pay him, or offer him a position as a gargeant in your Greycloaks.
Typo
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You come to a marker for a canyon, enter it. And get quite a surprise on the other end. You arrive finding yourself face to face with a rather large Dragon. It's name is Tholopsyx, and he is curious as to why you are there.
Actually, i think Tholopsyx is a she.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In the end, you will have to fight Koroboras and several of his minions. It will be a tough battle, so make sure you’re ready. When you have defeated them all, you will find out that Jerro returned here to retrieve something he left here long ago. He doesn't say what though. Your business here is finished, and you may return to the Keep.
You must make Ammon Jerro feel remorse for his sins. Doing will grant you exp, along with "Shandras Amulet" (or jewel). Which is by far the best amulet in the OC, hands down. That amulet is wicked, so make sure that Ammon feels really sad ^^
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is a good time to have the construct with you. When the giant skeleton attacks, deal with him. Once he is down, Black Garius will, with a Nightwalker, who is an agent of the King of Shadows.
The nightwalker is actually an Avatar of the King of Shadows, not his agent.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Once you are ready, open the portal and release the King of Shadows. After fighting him for a short time, he will appear to be falling. What happens is that he reappears in the form of many small KoS's. There will be three by each guardian light statue. Kill the three by each statue, then "bash" the statue until it is destroyed. If you don't destroy the statue, more mini KoS's will appear from it. Do this until all five statues are destroyed. And no! You’re not done yet. He will appear one last time, as a giant version of the KoS. What you must do here is have your companions deal with him, while you destroy the portal. Once you have destroyed the portal, the King of Shadows will fall.
I think you should be more specific about how to beat the king of shadows.
For instance, the second part with alot of mini KoS's is pretty much impossible without Ammon Jerro's "Web of Purity".
And the last part you should use your shield skill you got from the rituals (forgot it's name).
Otherwise your entire party will take heavy negative energy damage, killing everyone quickly.
With regards to part three of CH3, I was able to rest in the vale.
Once you killed everything in an area, you can rest.
One thing to remember is to make sure all of your party is close to you when you try to rest. If they are too close to an uncleared area, it will spawn monsters.
The locations I know I was able to rest are as follows.
The area you first appeared.
The room on the far let of the map.
Near the black fog on the right upper level (the last one you use).
The area this fog transports you to, where the mummy lords are.
The area you fight the three shadow reavers.
One thing I did that helped, was to have my rouge/shadowdancer go stealth mode and walk around getting rid of all traps, while the rest of the party stayed in the rear.
This made the battles that then took place much easier since I didn't have NPC's charging through high level traps and taking beaucoup damage.
If you don't have any rouge skills you might be SOL on this tactic since Neeska is kidnapped by Garius.
Also, I was able to have Bishop not fight for Garius, but simply walk away.
It all depends on which choices you make in the discussion tree, and I can't recall which exact choice I made. :mad:
I don't think it was influence based since I didn't have much with Bishop in the first place.
It was different for me. Even if I cleared the whole area, it would spawn a bunch of shadow demons if I tried to rest. And Neeshka was my rogue, so I was out of luck when she got snatched.
I was able to rest anywhere as long as everything was dead in that room. I am not sure if this was just by chance or not, I would take my party close to some wall and rest. I made sure we were all grouped close together and use rest. I never had a problem with it.

Speaking of the keep, if you keep sending those adventurers out to do stuff will they finally die? :p Lol.
Actually. If you send them out on all the quest. You will find them attacking you in the KoS dungeon with your final quest. :)

Hey, I once told them to go do something stupid (the Good choice), and the second time I sent them on a mission that sounded quite like suicide. Never heard of them again. :D

I never noticed them in the KoS dungeon before my last run. I played a Wizard on my last run so I right clicked often to cast spells. This is when I realized they where there. There true self showed in the portait. along with there names. I never sent them on anything until that run through. I wanted to see what would happen. :p

So they attack you? Bleh! Oh and btw, I just discovered something, right before you talk to the Dryad and give her the glow stone, command neeshka to pickpocket her. Then while you are in the conversation, you get the glowstone back. :D Make sure you had already pickpocketed the Lesser Magic Bag from her beforehand though, or you might end up with it...

I remember somehow ending up with the glowstone. But what is it for?

You give it to the Dryad for the Alteration Powder evidence. You probably just killed her for it instead. :p Other than that...it can cast Searing Light 3x per day...

How did you know? :D

Maybe it is because you are an evil, psychopathic Bard? :p Lol. I agree though, we need some evil smileys.
More on companion quests and known bugs with solutions if known would be extremely helpful; also specifics with areas in the manner of a lot of GameBanshee walkthroughs would help. Also less linearity with a sidebar menu so you can get quickly to a specific spot would be good.

I am doing a rewrite now, and it will have several of the things you mentioned. Including more indepth coverage of side quests.

I didn't get the bard troup in the end and I sent them on all the adventures (or at least I thought so). You can get Bishop to walk away by using the "That sounds like an order." comment. He then says he isn't anyone's pawn and walks away. In my second try I made sure I'd get the chance to kill that evil bastage. ;)
Sorry Bardess but I hate your boyfriend.

Really? Because i had problem with resting. Everytime i tried to rest, a couple of demons or whatever appeared and surounded me, interupting my rest.
And shouldn't it be that way too? If you would be able to rest, then it would've been too easy...
According to the officail source, you can't rest. But I guess you can try to. But I had the same thing. If I tried, shadow demons would appear and interupt my rest. Possibly there might be a bug allowing rest in certain isolated areas, but I haven't found any yet.
Hey lurchman. I went through this board and I noticed that the things that were already mensioned (you can talk to the spider, being a drow character/ if you win the trial which I did, I guess because of a high lore skill and the fact that I had a high influence on shandra, you still have to fight the big dude/ Travorick musnt die. He did not die and as already mensioned you get some XP for it). So for now I cannot help anymore but I can say, no I must say that your help and walktrhough rules. On gamebanshee they are not even past the first act and you are already fully completed and are busy with full revisions. And it is very complete in fact!

Thanks for the compliment. Ya, I learned early on that what character you play makes a difference in what happens. This time I'm playing 4 games, with 4 different characters, to try and make sure I get all of it. I appreciate all the help though.
In the "The Collectors Mansion" side quest you don't have to kill the collector, after reading his journal go to his room and take the Ocean painting, then when you talk to him again he'll give you the key if you don't destroy it.
I was wondering, has anyone found out a purpose for the Scarecrow you can interact with at Shandra's Farm when you are with Ammon? :confused: I examined both the Scarecrow itself and the ground but found nothing... perhaps if you need to have a certain level in a skill?

There are two chests burried there.
IIRC, finding them was based on your "spot" or 'search" skill.
As far as resting in the Vale, below is a map of the areas I succesffully rested in during my first play through (blue circles)

Nice catch on the chests OPT! That definitely qualifies as an "Easter Egg". Do you remember what was in the chests?
at the Vale, resting is a thing of chance. If you try to rest it is possible that you are going to be attacked. Sometimes you get attacked sometimes you dont. What I did is I just tried to rest, got attacked by some quite easy characters to beat, rested again got attacked again or not and in the first case I killed them again and finally could rest. But maybe being able to rest is a bug.
Hey all,
How do I get past the barriers in the final battle with Black Garius? It is like I am stuck behind the blue walls looking at him :-/
I answered in your topic about this ;)
We at Thieves-Guild.net hope you find the Walkthrough remake (part 1) both useful and informative - please make sure as always to post your comments and suggestions here.
Lurchman (the writer) and I (coverting to HTML for the website, spell checking etc.) have worked hard to get this up for you! :)
If you find any typo's or grammatical errors in it, please PM me and I will correct it.
Cheers,
Ben
I hope you enjoy the new walkthrough, version 2.0. It's been a lot of work, but worth it. I tried to cover a lot more varied and in-depth material in this one. Including all the side quest and other things. But like I said before. I believe a good walkthrough is never really finished. Ther will be a version 3.0, where I will dig even deeper for things like influences. More different character choices, and their effects on the game. So if you have any comments or suggestions, please post them here, or PM me. And thanks to everybody who helped me with their comments for the first one. I do appreciate it.
Lurchman
Thanx lurchman. If it wasnt for the great walkthrough,... the site would lose quite some good points for sure!
indeed! :D

You get The Sly Blade, Spellchain, a Greater Scarab of Protection, and a Ring of Elemental Resistance.
silly question on the bard competition... asking grobnar for help gives a failure, does that have anything to do with not having enough influence on him perhaps?
*bard competition.. if you take grobnar and ask him to perform the last tune with you, you gain +3 influence on him when winning*
also, some people seem to have trouble finding a place to rest. I usually put on the track mode to check enemies on the big area map and walk into an empty room as far away from the orange spots as possible. sometimes it is possible to leave a building completely and rest outside to restore spells and health. :)

It's more likely that Grobnar fails a skill check against his "perform" skill but I would have to check out the scripts in the game to make sure of that. :)
Would that be the PC's Spot and Search skill, or would NPCs help?
Would that be the PC's Spot and Search skill, or would NPCs help?
Not sure exactly what you are referring to here. I know of a couple of places in the game where the PC's spot or search skill is the ONLY one that matters. But for traps, Neeshka's skill is the one used. I guess it depends on the circumstances. :)
Im sorry if this has allready been pointed out, i didn't read all 14 pages of the thread. but in the walkthrough in the section chapter 2, part 1. regarding Tavoricks mansion you write:
"I am going to interject something important here. I went through these next few events 3 times before I figured out what was wrong. Tavorick must die. If he survives, the game flow will be disrupted. And you will not be prompted as to the next part of the quest."
I asumme you went the long way, got him down into the dungeon and defeated the Demon Lord and his underlings, where upon you got stuck with Tavorick and the surviving guards in your party and a quest entry telling you to head down into the dungeon and protect Lord tavorick. this bug is easely fixed by holding shift and right clicking lord Tavorick.
This opens the drop down menu on him and you can sellect talk to, when you do this he whil fire a similiar dialog as his death dialog and tell you that the shard is with melia in the moonstone mask and so forth. He will then tell you that it is probably best for him to stay in the dungeon with the guards and they will leave your party, your quest-journal will be updated and voila the game continues and you have saved lord Tavorick.
I hope this help to update the walkthrough.

where can i find the assassins hideout on the mission "The only thing worse than luskans"
Iirc, it should be nearby the Warehouse in the Merchants Quarter. On the left side, when facing the warehouse entrance.
Hope this helps,
Sicar

EDIT: Somebody already compiled everything, putting this file (http://rapidshare.com/files/2565550/24_p_talk_statue.NCS.html )in your override dir should solve your problem.
You have a couple of options. You can try patching, if you haven't already (which I would heavily recommend doing anyway). You may need to revert to a save before you arrived at the Ruins of Arvahn. (When you arrive at a new module, it gets incorporated into your savegame, and so the savegame would have the old buggy script embedded in it.)
Your other option would be to compile a fixed version of the script using your toolset, and then to put that in your override directory. Will take a few minutes, but I believe it would fix the problem without you needing to revert. Here's how to do it:
1. Open your toolset.
(This is NWN2ToolsetLauncher.exe inside your NWN2 game directory.)
2. Choose File->New->Script
3. Click the "Script" tab. Should be somewhere near the tabs for "conversations" and "areas."
4. Right-click "Script 1" in that tab. Choose "Rename"
5. Rename the script to "24_p_talk_statue"
6. Copy-paste the following text into the script:
#include "ginc_debug"
int GetIsPartyInCombat()
{
object oPC = GetFirstPC();
object oFM = GetFirstFactionMember(oPC , FALSE);
while(GetIsObjectValid(oF M))
{
if(GetIsInCombat(oFM))
{
return TRUE;
}
oFM = GetNextFactionMember(oPC, FALSE);
}
return FALSE;
}
int GetIsEnemyWithin( object oTarget, float fDist)
{
object oNearest = GetNearestCreature( CREATURE_TYPE_REPUTATION, REPUTATION_TYPE_ENEMY, oTarget);
if( GetIsObjectValid(oNearest ) && GetDistanceBetween( oTarget, oNearest) < fDist)
{
return TRUE;
}
return FALSE;
}
void main()
{
object oUser = GetLastUsedBy();
if( GetIsPartyInCombat() || GetIsEnemyWithin(oUser, 15.f))
{
SendMessageToPCByStrRef( oUser, 83352); //"you cannot use that item while in combat."
return;
}
ActionStartConversation( oUser);
}
7. Hit F7 to compile the script.
8. In your game directory, go to the "modules" subdirectory, and open a folder called "temp0." Your toolset needs to remain open while you do this.
9. Select the file "24_p_talk_statue.ncs" and copy it.
10. Paste that file into your My Documents\\\\NWN2\\\\Over ride directory.
Whew. That should do it. Let me know if there are any problems, and please download the patch if you haven't yet.
By the way, this bug will not occur if you restart the module and do the ritual at the outdoor statue first. It only occurs if you kill every monster in that area before you do the ritual. When I say "restart the module," I mean go back to a save from before you got to Arvahn.
Thanks to Eric Fenstermaker for pointing this out.
nice!! the script works :D:D thanks guys thanks sicar :D

I found the ore things to be a little ... off. It's perfectly working, script-wise, afaik. The conversations just don't seem very helpfull at times.
Unless you haven't given Calindra any work before yet, and this is your first try to give her a 'Go mining!' order. Then you're prolly having a bug.

how come calindra cant recognize that i have found an ore? is this a bug or am i doin somthin wrong?
As long as you have actually recruited her and she is at the keep, then she should run off and begin mining the ore when you report a new find. There is an ore vein that is bugged in various versions however but it's only one vein so it shouldn't affect the Calindra dialogue.
If you found all or most of the act1 ore veins, you shouldn't be having this problem. Sounds like either a game glitch or a conflict with another hak or custom content in our override folder. Try clearing out the folder and reload from an earlier save.
The OC Walkthrough is currently undergoing a major revision with some changes and additions and links to relevant maps. Currently Chapter 1 all 3 Parts and Chapter 2 Part 1 are finished and available in new form. All other parts still remain available in old form, but will be updated part by part as the work progresses.
update no. 1: Chapter 2 is now completely finished. All that remains is Chapter 3.
The Walkthrough Revision is complete and all Chapters are online now. Please, post suggestions, corrections or comments to the Walkthrough sticky (http://www.thieves-guild.net/forum/showthread.php?t=82). Thank you! :D:vine::D:cool:

[QUOTE=kgambit;3300]Couple of walkthrough additions for you:
Chapter 2:
Sidequest: In the Blacklake district there is a Temple of Lathander. The head priest there wants you to deliver a tithe box to Brother Merring in West Harbour. It's a straightforward FedEx delivery quest as near as I can tell.
TG> Is there any way to open the box without it blowing up?
Ok, I figured out what I was doing wrong. In the Mac version of the game, whenever you try to open the box, the attempt is always made by the main character--you cannot have someone in your party (like Neshka) do it. So your main character has to have the necessary search, disable trap skills.
Possibly missing from the walkthrough. Chapter 2, Tavoricik's House. At the end, if you kept all of Ballard's Squad alive you get a message to that effect and 1000 XP.
