View Full Version : Crafting Issue
Hi all,
I have read through numerous forums to find a solution to my problem, but I haven't had any luck.
I seem to be unable to craft anything, even though I am using the right materials, have high enough intelligence and skills(intelligence = 30, craft weapon = 48). For one I am trying to make a alchemical silver falchion, so I have two alchemical silver ignots and a falchion mold. I have tried using the smithing hammer both on the blacksmith's workbench, and the enchanter's satchel(when i use the smithing hammer on the satchel is asks what I want to rename it to?), with the ingredients inside, and still no success. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Here's some things to check:
1) Make sure that the ingots and the mold are the only thngs you have inside the workbench (or satchel).
2) Double check the mold description for to make sure that it requires 2 ingots. I'm pretty sure that 2 is the right number but I don't recall ALL of smithing recipes off the top of my head. :D
3) STACK both ingots into ONE stack. For some strange reason, the recipes can misfire if the ingots are not in ONE stack. (i've actually seen this issue posted fairly recently in the Bioware forums).
and lastly,
4) If you have ANY custom content in your override or Hak folder, except for TonyK's AI, but PARTICULARLY the Complete Craftsman mod, Remove it.
I'm guessing it's either issue #3 or issue #4 that's biting you.
I actually haven't tried smithing with the satchel, so try again with the workbench first.
Your craft weapon skill is definitely MORE than high enough. :D
It's indeed 2 alchemical silver ingots and Khelgar with a craft weapon of 21 at level 18 just made one.
I don't think you can craft a weapon in the enchanter's satchel; you have to use the blacksmith workbench.
Thanks for the quick reply you two.
I tried making it again in the blacksmith's workbench, with the alchemical silver ignots in a stack together and seperated, it just says "player uses item's special power"(which it was saying before), but they remain unchanged. I checked both my hak and override folder and they are both empty. Thanks for the advice, keep them coming. :)
Hang in there! I'll go check again with a party in MotB.
You're not the first person who has reported this problem, and it's puzzling.
You have the recipe right, the ingots are stacked, there's nothing in the satchel or workbench except the ingots and the mold, the override or hak folders, your skill level is high enough and yet the process simply is NOT working. As near as I can tell YOU are doing NOTHING wrong.
It's either a problem that was caused by the v1.12 patch OR something else that I can NOT figure out for the life of me is causing the crafting to fail.
All i can suggest at the moment is to check out the item ID database to the left, get the item code for the alchemical silver falchion, and spawn it in using the console and see if you have any better luck enchanting it.
This one is a REAL puzzler. I'm going to check this one out a bit more.
Sorry we've haven't been able to help more on this one Kothar.
That's quite alright, again I appreciate the help. Hopefully they will fix this problem soon....
Works fine here! Put the mold and the ingots into the blacksmith bench. It does not work in the Enchanter's Satchel, 'cause it's use is to enchant stuff. :D
No luck looking at the Bioware forums.
I know that I managed to get it to work for me using the blacksmith's bench to smith a suit of Mithral full plate for my paladin. :D
I FINALLY found a link that might explain the problem.
The other people who have reported this problem have patched the game out of sequence.
The correct installation / patching procedure is as follows:
Install NWN2 (do NOT update)
Install MotB
Run autopatcher to update autoupdater
Run autopatcher to patch the game to v1.112
Although other patching sequences have been reported, the above sequence IS the correct one to use. If you are manually patching make SURE that use the patches appropriate for a NWN2 / MotB installation and NOT the ones for the NWN2 only installation. Those patches are coded with pcx1 in the patch file name.
I suggest that you consider totally uninstalling and reinstalling the game and following the above patch process. Make sure you back up your saved games and characters first.
