game keeps crashing when trying to leave haven

So at the end of the whole haven thing in act two, The game gets to the second loading screen and just freezes. I tried it many times and it keeps doing this :( .

1) check your override folder in "my documents" in your NWN2 folder and be sure to either save anything you may have in there and remove them.

2) What is this patch? 11.153. You should have patch 1.12 .

3) You may have to go back to a earlier save. It really stinks. but it is possible.

4) make sure your audio and video drivers are up to date. I had to update both of mine when I first got the game.


After that. Someone else will have to have some ideas. That is my limit of things to check :)

2) What is this patch? 11.153. You should have patch 1.12 .

Patch from version 1.11.1153 to 1.12.1295 its a single step in the autoupdate.

Take EVERYTHING out of your override folder and hak folders before you patch. If the autopatch fails for ANY reason, take a note of exactly WHICH file it is choking on. It could be a sign of a corrupted module or file in the game.

After you patch, DEFRAG your hard drive.

Then try and reload from a previous saved game as Liso suggests, but do so BEFORE you reinstall any custom overide or hak content.

It's probably not a driver issue but you should check and see how far out of date they are.

I believe if you rename your override folder, say to overrideold, the update will make a new one.

Oh, and remember the version of your updater is different than the version of your game. I made the mistake of stating the wrong version before when asking for help.

I checked both the hak and override updates but they are both empty. As for updating my drive, I believe they are up to date. I was able to transition through the previous cut scenes so I don't think this is the problem. Thanks for the responses, any other input is welcome.

Before patch 1.12, this happens typically when you have summoned creatures and/or familiars and animal companions in your party after the fight with Ammon Jerro. So, before stepping into the teleporter that takes you to Ammon Jerro after the fight unsummon everything. Patch 1.12 fixes this issue.

I've seen a couple of instances reported where the game will freeze (or crash) with Norton AV running in the background.

I've also seen some reports of issues with Vista and quad core machines.

Improper installation and patching can also cause this problem.
