Here's an official link I found to a basic outline of the upcoming 4th edition version of DnD.

All I can say is the world as we know it is about to change.

We will survive. :D Personally, I've seen ADnD evolve to DnD 3.0 to 3.5. I'm not worried much about 4th edition. Sure it will be a major change, from what I read, but I'll adapt, I think.

LOL I've tracked it back from 1st edition - so THAT should date me. I haven't seen ANY mention of prestige classes yet for 4th edition. That's ONE omission I could gladly live with. :D

"Here lies DnD ... buried in a world of MMORG"

From what I've read, 4 edition came about due to desire to streamline the system, with the MMORPG people in mind. Granted, it was just an opinion I read.

Good thing they decided to make this change after Gary Gygax died...

Otherwise he would have.

The more I go back and look at it, the more I think you're right. :(

I always wanted to get into D&D. But this change to the rules changed my mind.

My friends and I have already agreed to stick to 3.5. So much better for what I've seen, plus we've already got about 40 of the books between us!
