View Full Version : Cheaters Never prosper
I was recntly given a little cheat by one of my friends which ups all your stats and skills to 20, sounds great but i can't level now because all my skills are higher tham they should be for my level, so i can't spent any of the new skill points meaning i can't complete the levelling up process.
Does anyone know of anyway to reset your skills?
yeah, you have 2 options....
1) Load a saved game of before you put this cheat in, or..
2) your going to have to enable debug mode and edit the stats one by one... back to your original numbers, or as best you can remember.... ***note that if you do this, you will have to have YOUR character highlighted

Thanks looks like i will have to do the saved game thing, cause it is the skills that is the problem oh well there goes 3hrs playing time :P
yeah, i'm not aware of any skill editing commands in debug mode... sorry i couldn't help you man.. hehe.. thank your friend for wasting 3 hours of your game =P... i know personally i've lost several hours of play due to not saving from the main menu... quick saves do not carry over if your computer crashes or locks up.... lmao
Ouch I learned that one well from the first game. Think i sm going to have to start again :S got no saved games before it happened. Real shame am halfway through Act 2 as well
I've modrated a few sites over the past few years, and I never cared when someone cheated a little. But I could never figure out why someone would use God mode. Why even play the game.
I Think God mode is pretty pointless too... unless you just want some random barbaric fun. In games that you have no use for, its sometimes fun to put it in and recklessly kill everything in your path with your worst weapon or character or whatever.
Im thinking Doom God Mode was pretty useful.
I made a save game *just* to try out the rolltwenties cheat after looking at this post (or w/e is actually is) - really not a good idea (well I suppose it could be useful if you're already at max level), you also get one of the dev weapons when you enter it.
At the end of the day, don't do this on your main game, unless you want to spend an hour or so fixing your char using Gffedit. :p

The only use i've had for god mode is testing modules to make sure things spawn and act as they should around players. Aside from that there's no point in it really.
Technically you're 'cheating' if you play on any setting other than D&D Hardcore since the easier modes give your party spell/damage immunities which the enemies don't have and the harder mode gives unexplained bonus stats to the enemies which they probably wouldn't need if the AI was any good.

use the same thing but put it back to where it should be.

the cheat that he used was " irolltwenties " once entered there's really no way to go back to your original settings without some serious character debuging, or just reloading a save prior to the cheat. since it makes EVERYTHING 20: stats, skills, and a few feats, plus a super dev hacked weapon.

I used resetstats, saved, loaded and then was able to level normally. I wanted to try the papyrus blade. :D

You can also use SetINT to drop your intelligence down low enough to level up. Still leaves you w/20 in all skills though.

ive used god mod in games where i havent cared about the game at all, or i was just board by the combat, and run through (turning the ai off makes this easy) just to get the story.
Cheaters prosper all the time :D
You just have to do it right ;)
Bah, cheating takes all of the fun out of a game for me, I only cheat when I get bored with playing the normal way. :D

Note fo info. Not just quicksaves do not carry over. It can happen that all your savegames suddenly get corrupted. Don't ask why but I have started like 6 times now due to glitches like that. And yes I took the hint "Save often and in different places" seriously 10 saves in ten different slots. And still none of them worked after the one or other crash of the game.
The game crashed when I was saving the other day... I only lost one save though luckily... and there had been a recent auto save... so I only lost about an hours play time.
Never heard of anyone loosing all their saves before.

the trick is to work around that. am on my way to the end now even though Atari has placed many many obstacles into my path :P

Why blame Atari? It is a Bioware product, Atari just sells it.

Actually it's an Obsidian Product, not a Bioware product. Bioware is kindly allowing Obsidian to use their forums for bug reports, tech issues, spoilers etc. Bioware should get kudos.
Atari gets raked over the coals because of their lack of customer support and follow up on issues like faulty key codes for pre-release orders. :D
My bad, I actually ment to say Obsidian but had Bioware on the brain ;) Thanks for the correction :p
Just a side note for anyone still watching this thread: if you input irolltwenties just as you are about to do your lvl 17 level up you should be able to continue progresion as you will be able to put up to 21 points in your skills next lvl. be careful with how many class skills/former class skills you have, as any points you spend this lvl will be added ON TOP of the twenty you get for the code. this means you may not have room for your points, even though you are now high enough to spend them.

Personally, I have never been able to see the point of cheating, in games or any other field.
For example, if you cheat in an exam, you cheat yourself, because you do not really qualify and will thus have great difficulty if you need to use the skill qualification at a later date.
In games, where IS the fun in in having an overskilled, overabilitied character that you have spent no time at all building up for yourself? It's just plain boring, imo. :p
I agree Fljotsdale, although I do have one uber character with consoled stats, but he's just for testing purposes. It's a lot more fun to play a character with at least one weakness.

Agreed but there are legitimate uses for the cheat codes such as resurrecting lost plot items. :D
Yeah, used to go all out with console commands, but the game got boring! I, too, now only use them to spawn in lost or unavailable items (like Nefris' ring), or to correct glitches (I'm sure I've mentioned my warlock with ranks in perform, elsewhere). I just thought I'd impart some of the info I picked up during the "munchkin year".

Well, yeah, I can see the point for respawning essential items that vanish for no reason but a game glitch! Or for correcting or working round bugs. Although I would prefer to go back to a previous save and try again, first. (Happily, so far as I can remember, I only had it happen to me once, and I scrapped the game and started over, and it didn't happen next time round).
But not for creating Ubercharacters or weapons, etc.

:) I agree. For me, most of the pleasure in games is the actual creation and building of the character. The game-play, while fun, is almost incidental, lol! :D
Exactly. In pnp, I nearly always find that creating and planning a character is as much fun as, if not more fun than, playing it. Be it an Uber-caster (once played a character who, at lvl 27, could cast as both Clr 27 AND Wiz 27!:) ) or completely for fun (changelings rule!:D ), sitting down and thinking about how it will interact with the other party members, practicaly and role play-wise, is the best bit. My cheaty charcters for nwn2 realy were just to get through the game, which wasn't much fun at all.:(
Still, the commands do stop "oh dear, I left that important key in that place I can't go anymore!" type situations, so there not all bad.

You seem like a person of my own mind!:D
But I learned long ago to lug everything around with me 'just in case'. Rarely heavy stuff, just keys, rings, etc, and aything that seems ambiguous. :)

Maybe its a British thing?:D
I, too, always keep as much as possible for as long as possible. However, on one particular ocassion, I, it seems, accidentaly pressed "drop" on a particular extra planar pebble while in a certain sub-aquatic-elemental-infested dungeon. :o Aaaargh!

OOPS! I've done things like that, too, but have noticed and picked up again. If you don't notice until too late...
Exactly. And on this occasion, poor Mini-Minsc (Halfling barbarian, lol) didn't have a recent save game to go back on. D'OH!

Mini-Minsc Halfling Barbarian, huh? :D Sorta like Minnie the Minx? You just had me in a fit of the giggles!
