View Full Version : Time of Troubles
What actually happened to the Lord of Fire, Kossuth, during the Time of Troubles? Does anybody know? He wasn't seen when all gods were banished to Faerūn and were forced to walk as mortals ...
Cheers
"Kossuth's name is not among the deities spotted in Faerun during the Time of Troubles, which suggests either that he somehow escaped Ao's wrath or simply kept quiet as the world fell apart around him. "

Wow!
I vaguely remember Kelemvor taking over as the God of Death... but after reading what he did with that position... WOW!
He actually turned what is traditionally a dark and evil role and turned it into almost a "healing" role where his clerics comfort those who are dying and their survivors and try to assist people with the transition between life and death. What a twist that was...
I think I shall now try to play a Paladin of Kelemvor... hehehe...

If I remember from when I was there months ago, Wikipedia has a section on the Time of Troubles...but then again, Wikipedia has about everything. :p
Update: Just checked...they say nothing on him in the Time of Troubles.

Faiths and Pantheons says that Kossuth's fate during the Time of Troubles is unknown - as far as I remember, and there are no stats for his avatar form. He definitely is not mentioned in the Avatar novels. Nowadays he is most commonly worshipped in Thay. While the red wizards are mostly obeyed out of fear, Kossuth's clerics are quite popular. His church has a strict hierachy, many clerics are LN. He has 3 monastic orders, one for each lawful alignment. Of the 4 elemental gods he is the one most concerned with his mortal followers - if this spared him Ao's wrath is uncertain however.
And for Kelemvor: He has a paladin order called the Knights of the Eternal Order, which is specialized in destroying undead. Some take a level of ranger to take undead as favored enemy, so they can better track and hunt undead creatures. Kelemvor is a strict but just judge of the dead and a grim hunter of those who try to cheat death.
