hi there,

didnt know where to post my problem really. anyway, im having some sound issues while playing. anytime i click on a character potrait to select someone from my party the selected char's voice sounds with an echo.
second, if my camera is on the top and i try to talk to an npc i can hardly hear his response .. some say things like "its been a long day" just like back in NWN1, but i can hardly hear them ...

i just have the feeling that any envirenmont sounds, like opening or closing a chest etc is very low ... does anyone of you experience the same?

cheers

How much ram are you running? They recommend 1Gig, and I would say, with this game, 1.5G would be better.

1GB RAM i have ... but i doubt that my sound problems derive from my installed RAM?!

Must be a driver or configuration problem...

It very well can. Both the graphics and the sound taken from the software are quite often put in the ram for quick access. If there isn't enough, then you can have issues like you described. I was over this alot with Oblivion. When the manufacturer recommends a certain amount, it does not mean that the game will run perfect with that amount. Oblivion recommended 1g, but it didn't really run well unless you had 1.5G. It ran even better with 2G. One thing I've learned about these games is, whatever they give as an amount for ram, increase it by 50%. That's why I put 2G in my new one. I can run both games maxed out, with no problems now.

well, it could be possible that my sound issues i described derive from my low RAM installed, but i actually really think its a configuration problem.

i have onboard 5.1 sound and 5.1 speakers from logitech ... i chose EAX2 from the game menu ...

ive attached screenshot showing my configuration in game.

cheers

At first i wasn't getting any sound from the characters, only enviromental and NPCs. then I was having the same issue when i chose any of the EAX options in game... i finally picked the 2d sound at the very bottom, and the echo problem was solved for me, and the sound was normal.. everything else is run at defaults for my system, which happened to have been maxed graphics

Ill look into this one,
BUT...
if you have a 3d sound control panel,
you may have echo or a surronding effect enabled, say like stadium or something,
just disable it and all should be well

change your surround settings...
NWN2 works on where your camera is placed and not your character,
so the further away your are, the quieter it gets

There may be advanced controls in your config file to increase ambient volume...
ill look into this one too

With my old PC, I had the Soundblaster Audigy I. And I would have to set the EAX to 1. I'm not sure which card your running, but if it's an older one. You might try that. I also had 5.1 surround. I have the have the X-Fi now, and game settings are preset.

I have a Soundblaster X-FI Xtremegamer with Logitech Z-5500's and often have the same problems. For me its all configuration, what kind of THX or Surround settings I use. I had the echo you described (and liked it, actually), everything echoed, including mouse clicks & all.

My problem is I'm at a loss to configure the speakers correctly right now. I don't see how you can place the "rear" speakers actually behind you unless you put your computer in a closet or something, or a corner of the room with a bookshelf to your back. As it is, my rear speakers are actually the ones closest to me on the left and right, with the "front" ones elevated and behind them. I need to finger out how to reconfigure & swap them (I'd really prefer not to rewire them but will if I must).

IMO, Euphoric has a finger on it, its a configuration problem.
